So like, Danny is a retired royal guardsman. And he left court life coz the princess soon-to-be queen had a thing for him. Years later, the Queen sends him a message that an old rival of his has found him and plans to kill him. He knows his past has caught up to him. Instead of waiting, he goes to face his rival. In an epic game of spacechicken defeats his foe. Now he realizes he is still strong and capable.
I feel like it’s kind of bitter sweet. He repeats “I don’t have long” three times at the end. I think he wins the battle but is ultimately injured and dying as just flies along and then the music and sound cut out as he dies. Idk. Haha
Sung playing a sinister robo-villain is SO good and I wish we got more evil Doctor. Him and Danny's contrast with the optimistic spacey synths vs. the Carpenter Brut-style heavy droning noise is so much fun to listen to.

They literally started work on it all in March of this year, so almost 7 months of work? It's honestly fucking mindblowing, this is probably their best album yet imo
Dude, if you're THIS troubled, I hear there's this flashy brigade of heroes crossing the stars. They might be able to fit in another member. "Assassin joins heroes battling former employer for redemption" is classic. But can Danny portray both and harmonize with himself? (Yes, the answer is yes.)

The part where Danny sings "My heart is racing Full speed right through the field of stars I can’t resist the deadly charge The light I’m chasing The fire that makes us what we are I close the distance from afar" Best vocals I have ever heard in a long time.
3:00 The best part of the song, and arguably the best part of the album. I'm getting huge Device vibes, and I'm really happy TWRP is making music that sounds like that again.
Definitely much more serious. I'm happy for that! As much as I love NSP, I really wanna hear Dan try and _write_ something serious. The closest thing to that is Danny Don't You Know, and that made me cry upon listening. I'm just saying, it would be so dope to get a song that doesn't bother to tell a fictional story but rather a lived one. Maybe about how he defeated depression and OCD, how he went through so much of life directionless and high, and all of a sudden shit worked out for him, or how the online machine makes him feel, good or bad. It would be so, so interesting.
ThatOne Fangirl I know what you mean! I tend to fall into the trap of saying "modern music sucks, our parents' generation had it best" But then...stuff like this. It's a beacon in the dark, a diamond in the rough. This touches my soul in ways I haven't felt since being a teenager. This is flaming lightning soaring through the cosmos and cutting deep into hearts and minds. Its spectacular. Keep it up, you beautiful weirdos.
here's the key difference between the two generations: back when our parents were kids, radio stations often went through trial and error. They'd play new music. If the listeners liked it, they'd play more music by that band. If they didn't, they'd move on and try something different. Nowadays, more research has been done into the science of music. And, long story short, the music industry has found it to be more profitable to throw all their money at a handful of musicians and bands, having them constantly play on tv and the radio until people just accept it and become comfortable with it, than to risk wasting money on a band people may not like. . There are still amazing artists out there. Just like our parents had. The only difference is that the music industry isn't taking "risks" and are instead placing all their cards onto "safe" artists/bands that are more comfortable. That's also why the sound of pop music has scarcely changed over the years. They found something easy and profitable instead of molding to the people's interests. . So the key difference between our parents' generation and our own is that we have to do more hunting to find these amazing artists.
Try out a band I really like right now called the Main Squeeze. Random plug but they don't get nearly enough love and everything they do sounds like a classic to me.
A lot of the reason for that is because they try to base the composition and really work hard on the lyrics so it sounds as angelic and from the 80s - 90s. The way this song was made is pretty much inspired by QUEEN's Bohemian Rhapsody.
@So tired of this. oh i don't deny that they had tons of shitty music too. my statement was really just talking about the changes made to how certain radio stations choose their music & how that doesn't necessarily correlate with the type of music their listeners typically enjoy listening to.
I can't believe I only just thought of this, but next time I get it on my head to try and write something like a short sci-fi story, I need to listen to TWRP. Maybe the adventure of their stuff will help me make something I wanna submit somewhere!
i badly need a cartoon about space travel based off these songs. like fully voiced 'n everything. they make me recall my youth and the sweet space operas of my childhood. keep in mind I was a child over 30 years ago.
I've heard Danny a lot before but something about the mix of the vocals and the instrumentals in this song is just so pleasing to the ears. Love these guys
If anybody was wondering (because I certainly was), from what I looked up, a black swan is symbolic of either spiritual freedom or a person going from a victim to the victor, and a swan song is someone’s final performance before their retirement/death. I LOVE the symbolism in this
I'm back, still one of my all time favorite songs. I would pay an irresponsible amount of money and wait an unspecified amount of time for this to get an animated music vid by knights of the light table
I've always liked to imagine this is a prequel ti starlight brigade, the story of the father from the music video, and why he doesn't want his son to ever become a pilot
I've been waiting and hoping Dan would start writing more "serious" lyrics, it's awesome to hear him talk about loving rush so much and now he's starting to flex those muscles and it's wonderful! Great job!! The band sounds great too!!! Congrats!!!!
Nice, I thought to myself how similar the singer sounded to Dan, then i saw the title of the vid. Pretty cool that he has a distinct voice and singing style that can be recognized right away.
So what I get from the lyrics is that this song's about a retired bounty hunter who's been given a high priority target to bring him out of retirement by a literal Queen of a galaxy. The assassin target finds him first, sends him a message to taunt him, and then they both wind up in a kind of 'joust' in their space fighters. The Black Swan wins, but his ship is so crippled it's not really recoverable. The Galaxy Queen sends a transmission to thank him for getting rid of the assassin but his halcyon days are actually over because there's no hope of survival. He doesn't have long.
After this, Magnum Bullets, and Starlight Brigade, I can only hope that TWRP and NSP are building up to a grand crossover or something like that. It'd be the magnum opus of our time.
Magnum Bullets was actually Night Runner, not TWRP, but TWRP have done the instrumentals for most NSP tracks since Under the Covers 1, and of course we can't forget the other spectacular crossover hits The No Pants Dance and The Hit
I'd give a teste for this to get a music video, this song is FIRE. The transition between the absurdly dark sounding bits mixed with Danny's triumphant ass portions. *chef's kiss*

Lighting up an empty screen
Beamed from the planet of the galaxy queen
“This is a black sky bounty
There’s an assassin on the run
I want him dragged down and brought to me

I dusted off the mantle
The weapons of my trade
Faint with the echoes of my past accolades
Ooh, I challenge you
Let’s see what you can do
If your legend is true…
Scared of a black sky bounty
I’m blasting off into thе dawn
And like a black swan
My halcyon days are over
Now I’m just flying along
Thе radar locked
On targets long gone
You are mine
For war, it’s time
All hope gone
For you Black Swan
My heart is racing
Full speed right through the field of stars
I can’t resist the deadly charge
The light I’m chasing
The fire that makes us what we are
I close the distance from afar
Past your prime
With pride you’re blind
I feel your fear
Now feel my wrath
First shots are fired
My past and future lives collide
The target turns to meet my eyes
One joust required
I find the strength beyond the lies
And ride as my enemy dies
Don’t stop! Halcyon’s not over
I’m just flying along
Grateful to be so wrong
Don’t stop! - I’m inside this
Overwhelming high tide singing along
My black swan song
Don’t stop! - Halcyon’s not over

i badly need a cartoon about space travel based off these songs. like fully voiced 'n everything. they make me recall my youth and the sweet space operas of my childhood. keep in mind I was a child over 30 years ago.
THIS SONG NEED 99999999999BILLION VIEWS
this album is the definition of "oops all bangers"
"I guess this one is the most popular because it has Danny..."
a stupid thought I had today before listening to this
This is awesome, but this rock is from another dimension
this was literally just one wave of goosebumps after the other
I've heard Danny a lot before but something about the mix of the vocals and the instrumentals in this song is just so pleasing to the ears. Love these guys
I clicked this accidentally and said: "why is this in my recommended?". But then I heard Dan's voice and everything made sense.
TWRP getting together with NSP is the universes' way to tell us about destiny
So glad I’m awake right now for this
2021's new alarm clock
This genuinely does have such a different feel from obviously NSP, but even Skyhill definitely. I really hope Danny makes music with you guys forever
This song is like the love child of Magnum Bullets and Starlight Brigade and I love it.
The dogfighting segment gives me such Perturbator vibes and I love it so much.
"Emergency transmission" is my favourite part. Don't know how to explain it, it's just so...*chef's kiss*
Ooh, I challenge you
Let's see what you can do
If your legend is true
OOF so much power
This song deserves a starlight brigade level music video, im already so in love
This is the best thing I've heard this year, holy shit, this band is amazing.
danny you have the absolute most angelic singing voice i find all your songs are great to sing
along too
If anybody was wondering (because I certainly was), from what I looked up, a black swan is symbolic of either spiritual freedom or a person going from a victim to the victor, and a swan song is someone’s final performance before their retirement/death. I LOVE the symbolism in this
I'm back, still one of my all time favorite songs. I would pay an irresponsible amount of money and wait an unspecified amount of time for this to get an animated music vid by knights of the light table
I feel you! I’ve watched a few peoples AMV’s and storyboards and it only mildly quells my desire for the Knights’ take on this song.
The way Dan sings “Deep” hooks my soul
I really thought Starlight Brigade was as good as music could get, but then this!!! I could weep for joy
I've always liked to imagine this is a prequel ti starlight brigade, the story of the father from the music video, and why he doesn't want his son to ever become a pilot
There's something with this guys, the music, i don't know, but i feel incredibly happy like a child when i listen to them.
I think this is my favorite song of TWRP of all time. It got me immediately and ai haven't stopped listening to it for 2 days
I've been waiting and hoping Dan would start writing more "serious" lyrics, it's awesome to hear him talk about loving rush so much and now he's starting to flex those muscles and it's wonderful! Great job!! The band sounds great too!!! Congrats!!!!
This song's music alone is amazing, adding Danny's angelic vocals makes it EVEN BETTER.
*SEVEN MINUTES* of Dan and TWRP? You spoil us!!
Can't wait for this to become a stunning animated music video 2 years later.
I don't have words that won't sound cliche or silly, so just, thank you for making music and making life better for me.
GOD this is good homework music
the album art is haunting, i just wanna touch it and enter it like a portal
This is easily the best track on the album. Easily. All of the others are phenomenal, but this is just breath taking.
I will do unspeakable things to get the chance to hear this live.
Sounds like Dan's character dies alone in space at the end of this.
The combination of dan/nsp with Twrp is my favorite thing ever...
what i like about NSP and TWRP is every song feel different. some band have every song be the same
After this, Magnum Bullets, and Starlight Brigade, I can only hope that TWRP and NSP are building up to a grand crossover or something like that. It'd be the magnum opus of our time.
Heh, nice
Magnum Bullets was actually Night Runner, not TWRP, but TWRP have done the instrumentals for most NSP tracks since Under the Covers 1, and of course we can't forget the other spectacular crossover hits The No Pants Dance and The Hit
And you’re just gonna sleep on Baby NYC? Blasphemy I tell you!
My favourite part is the first 52 seconds of the song, it just hits different
I'd give a teste for this to get a music video, this song is FIRE. The transition between the absurdly dark sounding bits mixed with Danny's triumphant ass portions. *chef's kiss*
You there!
Yea you! The one scrolling.
How many Times have you listened to this already?
A fucking lot
Not enough
This is surprisingly aggressive! I'm very down with this! Givin me some Device vibes
Im glad im not the only one thinking this is some kind of Starlight Brigade Sequel. maybe if were lucky we’ll even get a video too
god what did they PUT IN THIS SOUP BROOOO
That "yeah yeah yeah" in the backing vocals gives me chills.
This song deserves ALL the love
Sung sounds absolutely sinister in this song. I love it.
This feels like a throwback! 2012-2016 style. Dig it!
when you hit that 4:56 mark and your soul just ascends
How is this not an animated series on Netflix or Hulu. Come on guys, this is just ninja.
i can't handle how good this is, my brain cannot contain the dopamine
Yeah I'm going to need a dope ass music video to go with this dope ass song.
