    I love this video so much! When I feel bored of my own city I will have to watch this to find the passion again.
    The weather segment cracks me up it is usually so dry! Yet some days are 'Four Seasons in One Day'.
    I used to buy $5 woodfire pizzas inside industrial estate near the airport which I loved. Next door there is an amazing cake shop.

    I am from Melbourne and I can say with confidence ... you really understand what this amazing city is all about ... welcome to Melbourne and I can assure you we Melbournians would be happy for you to stay and become one of us. Lots of love from Melbourne!

    Great vid!
    The weather in Melbs is mainly controlled by a friggin' big cold ocean south of us and a friggin big hot desert to the north west of us.
    Melbourne's beach starts in Port Melbourne and ends at Portsea, 100 kms away.
    Public transport is like a bike wheel. Going along the spokes to and from the hub is easy. Wanna go from spoke to spoke? Catch a bus and pack a lunch.

    St Kilda is not the only beach. It rains in spring a lot but it has hardly rained for 4 months this summer/authumn. It is dependent on the time of year.

    The pronunciation of Melbourne was so perfect I first thought you were an Australian faking an American accent. I thought you were a bit harsh on Dominos pizzas. I think they compare well to any wood fired pizza :-) Great video.

  • @beceh23
    @beceh23 6 лет назад +5

    As I'm from Melbourne, it was interesting to see your perspective. Did you manage to get to Williamstown Beach? Bit quieter and nicer than St Kilda IMO.
    Myki effin sucks. They should have a tourist version. It's ridiculous that it costs $6 to even use it.
    3. Yep. Weather's kinda crazy. Lately it's been super nice, but... yeah. I have been at work and a storm comes over and we're all like shiiit kids are screwed. And then it's sunny by recess. Yeah. My bro's a meteorologist too. He has fun at work.
    You don't always need your umbrella. You just stand under the verandah for 10 mins and the rain is gone hahaha.
    Re: Coffee... yeah. Don't order a "coffee", like my husband did for the first year. It will be followed by a withering look... "yeah, which coffee?!"
    Like you said... latte, flat white, cap, long black etc. Don't just say, coffee please!
    And yeah. Bimbos. Thumbs up. Glad you enjoyed Melbs.

      Bec Allinson I’m so happy you’re from Melb and enjoyed my video!! By unfortunately I didn’t :( my time spent there was during the winter which was WAY colder than I anticipated. But Ik!! I used to always pay for the $45 for 7 days on the myki because $4.20 is so much for 1 trip!! But yes! Coffee is way more intricate than people think these days haha! Thank you so much for the support!!💖

    • @beceh23
      @beceh23 6 лет назад +1

      Veta Parco ohhh no. Yah, winter here is shit. Nothing like a Canadian winter, but it's still shit if you're expecting a Qld winter or something! It's crazy, it's cheaper for the two of us the drive in and find parking than take the train (we live a few ks out - like 10 mins on the train.) Which ain't right.

    • @VetaParco

    By your definition of an 'Australian city' no major city in Australia is an Australian city. All you need to do is visit a country without taking stereotypes with you and you'd find that you'd be less confused about the way things are. No city here has a beach in the CBD, excluding the Gold Coast I suppose, although the only people that really classify the Gold Coast as a city are the people that live there. Australia is basically a mash up of the US and the UK, we have almost the exact same land area as the US but instead of the 320 something million people that live in America we only have 24ish million. For comparison, the city of London in the UK has the same population as the entirety of Australia. Depending on the state/territory or even the city, a lot of our architecture was European influenced (new developments not so much). We use the metric system of measurement like every other sane country in the world and drive on the left like the UK. However a lot of our words are picked at random from either country, a lot of the time we could use either the British or American term for something and still know exactly what the other person is talking about. Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra (the capital of Australia for all those Americans that think the capital is Sydney) do get quite cold, even in summer. For example, it is summer now and it is only getting up to about 22C (~71F for Americans) in those cities where as in Queensland it is 35C (95F) and higher everyday in the same time period. In winter, even in Queensland it gets cold, like below zero at night and single digit during the day cold and Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra are all colder on average than that. When we get storms here, we get real storms, with deafening lightning that honestly makes the ground shake when it strikes and can knock out power for days on end, rain blows sideways and wind strong enough to uproot any tree. We have government subsidised healthcare (that hasn't ruined the economy, looking at you America) and gun control that means we don't wake up every third day to the news that there was another mass/school shooting. We have some of the toughest work place laws in the world, for example out minimum wage is A$18.30 per hour, full and part time employees are given four weeks of paid leave every year and we have paid sick days too. Yes, perhaps to the average American shopper our prices for items may seem higher, but that is due to the fact that the price on an item INCLUDES tax. Sure, to the average American restaurant goer the price for food here may be higher, but that is because restaurants here actually pay their employees a liveable wage so there is no need for tipping. Australia is basically a bigger version of the UK without all of the terrorist attacks that incorporates all of the best parts of US life without all of the gun toting psychopaths running around the streets.

    Melbourne is nowhere near the Arctic Ocean. It is somewhat north of the ANTarctic Ocean. / Melbourne has a great number of beaches other than St Kilda. Go and try them. Sydney doesn't have beaches in the city either./ Australia IS NOT A BRITISH COLONY. It was previously made up of six British colonies. That ended in 1901./ 'If you don't like Melbourne's weather, wait 5 minutes.'/ Why is Melbourne NOTORIOUS for having arcades? 'Famous' would be a much better word. Out with your dictionary. Notorious means 'famous in an unpleasant way.'./ Not every suburb has a city of its own. Many suburbs make up the various cities, such as Stonnington, Port Phillip and Darebin. Is there any other suburb that you know about except St Kilda? Sorry to appear a bit negative, but these are major mistakes that should be rectified.

    Every suburb has it's own golf course. Its insane. Check it out on Google Earth.
    I lived there for 10 years, I would say its definitely a fantastic place to visit. Livable, no. There is nothing there to do once you've seen the handful of attractions. Everything that's there is done better pretty much everywhere else. But I will admit is way better than Sydney if you need to drive there. Sydney the city of red lights and one way streets.
