Thank you for describing the city I live in a loving way. I always remember a quote about Melbourne and Sydney, "Sydney is the film and Melbourne is the book". Which I feel describes the two cities well.
As a Melburnian, we can sometimes be a miserable lot and bitch and moan about the state of our city. The roads are bad, the weather is shite, the cost of living is too high…whatever. But having people from outside get excited about Melbourne puts it all in perspective. It is one damn cool, eclectic and beautiful city. Have travelled around Australia many times and I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else! Thank you.
It's so strange to hear people with American accents pronounce Melbourne correctly.
Haha definitely had to listen to how you guys say it & make the conscious effort to not say Mel-BORN 😅 so thanks for noticing
Actually the correct pronunciation is the way it’s spelled. Australians say it incorrectly bcs they like to shorten everything and take away the vowel. Every other English speaking country pronounces it correctly even Australians 100 years ago
@@Cuddywuddles When I say "correctly", I mean as in the local dialect. Language evolves, and that's how it's evolved here. If you're referring to any of the Melbournes in the USA or the UK, do your thing. But the Australian pronunciation of Melbourne is correct for Melbourne, Australia. For example, I would never go to Boston and tell a Bostonian they should be pronouncing their city the way someone from Boston, Lincolnshire does.
Hahhahah
@@luhole slang English is not a evolution, it’s actually the opposite! The Australian language comes from the laziness of pronunciation. Australians are English! Melbourne was named after a village in Britain
Thank you for showcasing our beautiful city so wonderfully.
Thank you for watching ❤️
I appreciate SOOOO much that you're pronouncing our city correctly 😍🙏
As an old Aussie, my greatest joy has been, late in the afternoon with nobody around to sit by the Murray River and hear nothing except for birds or fish jumping. It's magical.
ken oath
So good to see and hear overseas visitors appreciating the City that I have grown up in and loved for over 60 years.
i never had australia in my travel bucket list until this video series!!! melbourne seems like the place for me ❤
Please Come, but visit in autumn, it’s the best season for beautiful weather. Melbourne is a beautiful city!!
Come over here!
This makes us so happy to hear ❤️ you must make the trip out here!! You will absolutely fall in love with it, just as we have 🥰
It's nice but the weather usually sucks
You'll love it and you want stay !!!
I remember as a child dad taking us to the Vic Market in the 1960s to buy a big box of fruit and veggies. Then he brought us all one of those donuts.
My Nan lived in suburb next to the city, Carlton, so sleeping over at Nans on weekends and nan taking me into the city was so exciting as a child.
As a teenager I remember often just sitting and reading in the botanical gardens.
I worked in the city for quite a few years. Now my daughter and husband have moved to live in the city in an apartment. Finally their 1st own home as he’s just retired from the army. Now she jogs around the parks and tracks before work.
Watching both of you in the city - virtually covered over 60 happy years of my life, connected to the City of Melbourne 💞
I can remember when the Vic Market sold really good fruit, veggies and meat. Then the cheap and nasty tat sellers heard what a good place it was to sell stuff and they took over the market, paying higher rents than the real food sellers could afford. The same thing happened in Acland St, St Kilda. The best cakes and pastries in the world. People traveled from Europe and the USA to buy their pastries. Then the landlords heard how well the little pastry shops were doing and they jacked up the rents. The pastry shops could no longer afford to stay there and cheap and nasty tat sellers took over. I'm sure that it happens anywhere there's something good and unique. Greedy philistines take it over and destroy it.
@@roadie3124
I had no idea of any of what you wrote, that’s terrible. It must have been the 1860s when dad went to buy fruit and veggies at the market. AND I remember we all got a jam donut when he’d finish. I remember the salesmen yelling, nicely at what they were selling and the prices. Vic market was great fun, a day I looked forward to spending it with dad whilst mum got some much needed peace and quiet lol. Great days - but sadly, after reading what u wrote, it’s all changed. But at least we had - the good old days 😊
@@bernadettelanders7306 I used to go to another local market from around 1998 to 2015. Tiny compared to the Vic market, but they had some really high quality ingredients. I remember queuing next to Stephanie Alexander at one of the fish stalls several times.
@@roadie3124
I haven’t been to any local markets, sadly. The sound and the smell of Vic market spoiled me for any other lol 😊
@@bernadettelanders7306 go to Dandenong market , good produce , but the tat is also there .
so insane to see you guys in my home city!!! like whaaat my mind is blown! walking up the streets i walk by everyday..makes me so excited!! i certainly cant wait for melb to greet you again soon and to see of course your beautiful content! xxx

as a guy who was born and lived in Melbourne all my life , i fully appreciate your love for our city ❤😊
I loved the energy in this episode... you both looked so rested and ready to explore!
Ahh so glad you love Melbourne (home town) 🫶🏻 We are definitely hot coffee peeps 😂 the food, art, music and theatre scene are our vibe here. But obvs lots of sport etc. and loads of gorgeous towns to visit for weekends down the coast. Hoping you loved the Great Ocean Rd trip. Anyway thanks for another awesome vid. We love you guys ❤❤
Melbourne truly is such a special city - we really really enjoyed your home town ❤️❤️ thank you for watching, can’t wait to share our Great Ocean Road adventure with you!!
@@thevannmann hahaha! I’ll give you that! Have been to WA a few times during summer ~ and I was sure I was going to die from the heat 🤣
I've been living in Melbourne for a few years now and I'm always finding new cool areas to explore. Best place I've ever lived in. Glad your having a great time :)
You’ve really nailed your Melbourne experience. What is even more amazing is that all the places you went you are places we interact with regularly. We often have picnics or light display at the botanic gardens, or ‘the tan’ as we call it, and regularly meet up with friends for a walk or jog around the perimeter. The art gallery has many reasons for us to visit. The State Library is simply inspirational to study in, they have art installations, or sometimes a special party.
This is arguably one of the best Melbourne vlogs I've watched! Glad you enjoyed it here!!
Thank you guys for the beautiful endorsement of our city. Continue having fun and enjoy this gorgeous country.
So nice to see my hometown through someone else’s eyes…and for them to love it too!
Also nice to hear you both pronounce Melbourne properly! 😊
I loved watching you both enjoyed our beautiful city! Glad you had a chance to try the delicious donuts at the markets 💛
I liked the video straight away when you said Melbourne correctly, music to my ears! Thanks for the awesome video, I also love my home city ❤
Thanks for a great review - in particular your respect for our city. Enjoy your stay!
Chefs kiss of a video guys! Pretty rare to see people actually go to the top spots all one after the other: Fitzroy - NGV❤ - Botanical Gardens - War memorial (underrated inside) - Queen Vic (south Melbourne market better but you went straight for the donuts, so well played) - state library ❤ - and the other places could have been anywhere after that. Perfect 1-2 days in Melb right there.
Waiting for the great ocean road vlog!! ❤️ great video as always!
Coming next week!! 😍😍
youre going to ALL the right places GUYSSS!!!
Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed my beautiful city ❤
Melbourne is not just a city, it’s a feeling!! 😉
this vlog was simply magnificent, you’ve been so happy in Australia, and that makes me so happy, I have been following you for a long time and undoubtedly you are my favorite content creators in the entire world, always putting out the best vibe possible. You’re a hugeeeee inspiration to me, hope you always get the best time visiting amazing places like this one 💞💞💞
Andrea 🥹 you make our day any time that we see a comment from you.. thank you so much for all of your love & support always!! You are just the best 😭💞
I absolutely love you guys and your videos. Your videos are so well made and always a treat to watch 🫶🏽🫶🏽
A couple of things, the NGV ( National Gallery of Victoria) is not the museum, that’s the Melbourne Museum which is next door to the Royal Exhibition Building. Secondly the Sydney Melbourne rivalry dates back to the early 1900 when our original government was trying to work out which city should be the capital. It was decided that Melbourne should hold the Federal Parliament and Sydney would hold the Stock Exchange. In the end it got so messy they created Canberra- which is in the middle of the 2 cities. Move onto the 2020’s and Melbourne is now the biggest city in Australia. Sydney used to hold this title…. So the grumbling will continue. I heard the other day a great description Melbourne is the book and Sydney is the film, I think that says it all.
That's not entirely true. The 'Significant Urban Area' of Melbourne has now overtaken Sydney... albeit marginally, as Melton is now officially included as part of Melbourne (should've been all along anyway). However, Sydney is still bigger in the 'Greater Capital City Statistical Area' category. Again, by a very small and ever-decreasing margin. Don't ask me how these two different metrics work. I'm just going off what ABS and Wikipedia states. Yes, it seems inevitable now that Melbourne is going to overtake Sydney outright judging from the trend of the last two decades (excluding the pandemic years). But for me as a fellow Melbournian, I don't really see that as much to celebrate about if our infrastructure isn't up to Sydney's standard. While not exactly world class itself, Sydney's public transport network is better than ours... in my opinion, despite not having much of a tram network. Been living in Sydney for two years now. Things just run a little more smoothly here.
So is a book or a film better? I think Melbourne is also a film. Melbourne has so much life and soul. Somehow it feels so intimate. I used to think Singapore is great as a food haven with cuisines from all over the world. But Melbourne is better. ❤❤❤❤❤
Rhylan is so beautiful!! obviously love you vlogs in general, but she always looks flawless
So exciting to watch you make our city look so beautiful - instantly made me want to get out and appreciate It more myself! also your pronunciation of Melbourne was so impressive I kept re-listening
I grew up in Melbourne, and having lived overseas, in my case in London for 12 years, I am now living back in Melbourne, in this case" Outback" Croydon.... And I do find it amazing that people come to Melbourne and find things that are interesting to see.... As I do remember in the early 1980s, having to take an Italian family around melbourne and struggling of things to take them to see... But then again people who are visiting a place always have a different perspective from those who live there.... As I found when I lived in London for all those years... And I remember visiting Kings Cross train station for the first time and it was like for me Howard Carter discovering the tomb of tutankhamun.... And then a year later I'll be passing through it and not giving you a thought....
I hope you had a good time in Melbourne... As it is now the biggest city in Australia and will be the most important Capital city of Australia....
PS: "Carn' the Pies!"
again a very wonderful vlog with this cute couple
Thank you so much 🥹❤️ Melbourne is amazing!!
Another well put together vlog by two very classy people. Thanks for the tour. From California.
Such amazing videos you guys produce. Loving your Australian content

Best travel vloggers on RUclips 😊
Another incredible video 👍🏼
Wow, thank you so much, that’s a huge compliment 🥹❤️
I’m so glad the food was a highlight of Australia.
Oh it definitely was.. the food is absolutely incredible here 😍
You really captured the beauty of our city. Glad you enjoyed your time here.
Great vlogs guys. Glad you are enjoying Melbourne.
really enjoyed this. very respectful and appreciative. took on advice from locals. you are more than welcome here any time!
Great video guy’s, keep up the good work 👍🇨🇦😎❤️
Thank you so so much ❤️❤️
Love your tour of Melbourne, and I'm glad you enjoyed it. The Fitzroy Gardens are nice, but the botanical Gardens are spectacular and are literally across the road from the war memorial. You guy's are really cool as well ❤
My hometown ❤ Beautiful video, thankyou for doing fellow Melburnians proud!
😭😭😭😭😭 my hometown my darlings!!❤ Glad you came here. The beginning your walking down the path and I recognised the fences and houses and that's where I walk almost daily! Ahh. Crazy! I wrote my book at the State Library, my mate worked at Hareruyu! I was having a picnic wth my friend at the Royal Botanic Gardens last week! Whattttt. Mind blown you guys are here. My little darling city. Oh, and you say Melbourne exactly right. Amazing. You've made my day. But, are you doves still here?
What you call a museum is an art gallery. The museum is a whole other thing.
yall help bring peace to my soul 🩷
🥹 this comment means the world to us ❤️❤️
I live here! Subscribing to your channel because the vibe is just so chill and positive ✨ ps: you guys also picked good spots
Loving the Australia series, can't wait for Japan! Hugs from Argentina
I loooove visiting libraries when I travel. New bucket list library unlocked!
Love your videos!
I would love to see a video about your make up routine rhylan🥰🥰
Make sure you check out the Mornington Peninsula, Surf Coast/Great Ocean rd, High Country and Macedon Ranges (so many cute quaint towns, throughout)…
Glad you got to experience Melbourne!
I'm from Brisbane and still live here, and have been to a lot of countries, but Melbourne is and always will be my favourite - it's our little bit of Europe all the way down here🥰
Omg I’m addicted to this series. Hope you both plan on visiting the apple isle (Tasmania)
I was just thinking
I hope they go to Tassie and go to Mona.
My family are from Launceston, they’d love the Tamar River and the Rosevears Pub on the river.
Thank you so much ❤️ sadly we won’t be visiting Tasmania on this trip, but we fully plan on coming back for everything that we miss on this go around 😍
walked right past my apartment block in this vid lol! i love this. makes me appreciate living here even more. i moved to melbourne only two months ago and it's such an amazing city. ❤
Awesome representation of Melbourne. Thank you 🙏
You are so right. Melbourne is a top tier City with all the favourite cities roll into One. Before Covid it was the most Liveable City for 7 years in a roll. And I love the expressions from both of you tasting the food. Because it makes me want to cry. 😂
Hey team, I was overly excited to hear your thoughts on Australia. I grew up in Tasmania, lived in Melbourne and the GC now residing in Sydney. You have done Australia well, done it justice and made an incredible story along the way. Thank you for sharing! Thank you for your opinions, thank you for showing our country to the world. I don't speak on behalf of immigration or the country but if it means anything, you are always welcome here! Bless you both. P.S I appreciate your perspective, the perspective of people into art, culture, natural beauty, fashion, architecture and food...... Based on your Australian choices your opinions are valid and worth listening to. Again, thank you!
So glad you enjoyed Melbourne…….. it’s my city moved here from Sydney in 1997 best move I’ve ever done ……
The vibe! ❤️❤️❤️🍃🍃🍃
You do such a great job. A joy to watch.
Thank you so much, that means the world to us! ❤️❤️

Well done with the pronunciation of Melbourne. Thanks for all the lovely compliments! Make sure that you take a picnic to Healesville Sanctuary (see wombats, emus, platypus, koalas, kangaroos and wallabies)
Cafe Culture is such a big staple of Melbourne, been noted as one of the best coffee cities in the world, love to hear you guys mention the coffee hits differently here 😋
Been dying to go to Australia since you guys have been there, especially Melbourne!! Love you guys and your content.
Also iced coffee all the way!
Ahhh you have to come, you will absolutely love it here!! It’s a dream ❤️ we love u too, thank you so much!
I grew up in Melbourne. I am pleased about your exploration of Melbourne, many other bloggers seem to miss the point. We are not all the sunclad, beach obssessed people you find North of the border.
Welcome to Melbourne Juan and Rhylan, Enjoy 😊
You guys really picked some of the best spots in Melbourne. Well done! Fitzroy is my favourite neighbourhood to wander around in for sure. If you're coming back some time and want to check out a market where you can do a bit of shopping, South Melbourne Market is the way to go! It's only about 10min on the tram from the cbd and very bougie but definitely worth visiting.
That doughnut van has been there for decades and FYI that line is actually short. You were lucky!
Good job showing off my home town...tastefully done..thanks
Thanks so much 🤍
first time viewer and I live in Melbourne.
You are one lucky guy dude!
Such amazing vlog. I can’t wait to see Japan vlogs (it’s my favorite country )💕
Coming sooooon ❤️❤️
Chinatown melbourne is incredible and of course the coffee culture is world class
Chinatown Melbourne was one of the most impressive chinatowns we’ve ever been to, behind only Yokohama & Bangkok’s Chinatown (from the ones we’ve been to)
You guys are so sweet. I'm glad you liked our city.
Every time I come back from travelling I appreciate it anew. At $5M people it has now attained critical cultural mass. Yes, different vibes to Sydney, definitely.
rhylan looks so stunning in this vlog especially at 9:36 and onwards. my jaw kept dropping every time she was onscreen🫶🏾
You are the sweetest 😭😭 thank youuuu
yay so happy you’re in my city!
The state library is a great building, I wish they still had concerts under the dome.
Melbourne market ( all the markets ) doughnuts 🤤🤤
My hometown. Glad you guys enjoyed
My lovely hometown, Melbourne. The art, sport and coffee capital of the world. I just hate the traffic and moved to beautiful central Victoria. Still love my Melbourne ❤️ oh those doughnuts at the VIC Market, I used to work at the old Police HQ in William St and we would go and get those for lunch and eat a whole bag. Heavenly!!
So lucky to have called this place your home ❤️ it’s truly a special place!!
Oh my. How absolutely gorgeous. I’m just a few minutes into it so forgive me for asking impatiently (in case you mention it later haha 😊), what month was this? The weather looks delicious. 😍💙. Thank you for sharing your travels. Also enjoyed your Paris vlog.
Love seeing travel videos about Melbourne. Hope you guys had a chance to check out the Yarra Ranges during your time here.
YOU'RE SAYING MELBOURNE RIGHT!! SO GOOD
Please come back to my home city Melbourne and explore more........Thanks the wrap. Amazing. 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
I live here in Melbourne for 10 years now and we love it here
We’d love to live here someday!
Been 7 times , lived there for a bit. Best city in Australia
In answer to the question in the title, yes (IMO, obviously). I love Melbourne so much. All our major cities are different (Launceston is probably my fav), but Melbourne is extra special.
BTW, in the brief shot looking at the city down the avenue of the Shrine (8.57) did you spot the face? That’s a portrait of William Barak on the Barak building. It’s one of my favourite things that people easily overlook at the time and only spot later in photos!
Loved seeing Melbs through your eyes. You’ve really done your research to order a magic! In answer to your question, I first started ordering a magic by description before it had a name, then about 12 years ago my favourite barrista told me that the combo I was ordering was gaining in popularity in other areas and it was called a ‘magic’!
You guys saying how Melbourne is like all your favourite cities in one just shows how diverse we are. That makes us unique ☺️ so glad you guys enjoyed my home city!
Looks like you missed the stained glass ceiling in the National Gallery. ( which is an art gallery, not a museum) . Glad you like Melbourne! 😊
I really loved your vlog. If you ever get the chance to visit the Treasury Gardens and Captain Cook's Cottage I think you'd love it. It's at the top end of the city near Parliament and (funnily enough) the Treasury :)
Aaah all familiar places to me, Melbourne is pretty cool. And yeah, HOT COFFEE
Jeez you blokes are getting around! Great video.
Not sure the Sheila would like being called a bloke 😂
Haha so much to experience here in beautiful Australia, wish we could do it all 🥹❤️
You are right, Melbourne is a cool city.
Yesss 🙌🏽🔥
Hope youve been enjoying the time spent here I've grown up and lived in Victoria all my life so far im only 26 lol but i absolutely adore Melbourne even though we've dropped a bit on the most liveable city list and despite problems honestly wouldn't want to live anywhere else! 😊👌
I'm very proud to have spent my entire life in Melbourne. I don't know nor care if it's the ''coolest city ever''. I've lived in several other cities, but home is where the heart is. I know that's cliche, but that's how I feel...
Did you spend your entire life in Melbourne or lived in several cities?
@@serpserpserp Born and raised in Melbourne and temporarily lived in other cities.
We want longer videos!!❤
You should check out sense of self for a soak and cibi around the corner for brekky. Also, I highly recommend hope st radio for dinner :)
