As an old dude with about 15 years worth of old hard drives, a massive DVD collection and an unabiding hatred of RGB lighting this could be the case for me.
Your review of this case explains the harddrive area way better than any other reviewer. This is the 4th review of this case I've watched and I'm only now understanding what is going on with the harddrive area and that panel that moves forward. Very good job Timmy. :)
GN STEVE'S review left me confused but knowing that I need a mesh front. Epos Vox and Wendell just showed me that it might be interesting. Then you actually explained what it can do. Keep up the good work.
Carter Wagoner there is an all white version of this. Check out BPS Customs’ channel, KitguruTech and OC3D. I believe they all three got all white cases.
I though I always wanted compact systems but there's something so awesome about long cases that make the components in my pc look small and create a huge space idk it's a small thing but the length makes me feel more badass
Bought the same case, Tuxedo version. I think it's important to take your time with a build in a case like this. Plan ahead, doing your best not to overtighten or strip screw threads etc.
This was the first review of this case I saw. Just picked it up because I love the possible future expansion into water cooling. I eventually want to go from an AIO to a custom loop, some day.
looks like I finally found a case to upgrade from my R3. I'm glad it has a Disc drive since I actually use mine quite a bit. I can't find it for sale anywhere
they do the same type of directions for the meshify c too which is why I will ALWAYS go with fractal design for my computer builds. They have the best instructions and the best cases in my humble opinion as a amatuer builder.
13:33 They don't have to. Since the R4 the front panel doors have been removable via two screws. I tired it with my R5 for a bit but I prefer the reduced noise the door provides.
9:15 So that answers a big question I had that Fractal hasn't gotten back with me on - so you *can* have it in Storage Mode AND mount an ODD in it at the same time; cool!
I have a whole Z690 system in parts waiting for a home, and I am getting FRUSTRATED! I'm 98% sure that this will be its new home. THANK YOU for a great review.
Wonderful review, thank you. I may splurge on 3 140mm Noctua fans for the front and take the door off entirely, if it's not too terribly loud. A mesh door would be killer. Possible thermal issues with air cooling and a 10900k are my only concerns in an otherwise perfect design.
So three changes from the define r6. The optical drive bay is a fixture for the define series i just changed my corsair carbide air 540 to the r6 usb c in white , still need to wrap front cover. You can just remove the front door or swap hinges etc
As someone who is looking after a new case for a friend of mine, this seems like a very nice alternative although my only complaint is that it has a glass window and not a metal one with ventilation from the side as a side panel is a rare thing to not see when chassis hunting. Would give this 10/10 if it wasn't for the glass panel.
I would want to use my own fan controller. It fits into a 5.25" bay slot at the front of the case I have. (A different Fractal case.) ... However the rotary-buttons that operate the fans are 9mm (1cm) long. I am not sure that I could use my fan-controller in the Define 7 case. By the look of it, the fan-controller buttons, would get in the way of the door of the case closing. Please can someone tell me if there is any way I could make it work? Like could the fan controller be set back 1cm? Or would the door close with no problem?
As I said in someone else's review of the same case. If they did do a mesh front panel for the xl I'd definitely buy it. It looks perfect for a watercooled threadripper build.
I have the 6 and This whole family of cases is amazing. It’s an R7-3700x/Quadro P4000 build with 8 3.5 HDDs at the front. This is my home server/plex. And I use it to with a blu ray player
What do you think about the cooling performance with the door closed ?` I got 2x LL140 and 3 LL120 from Corsair to cool my RX 5700 and Ryzen 3600... Works fine in the pure base 600.... Or is this case more for AIO´s ?
Just bought the Define xL in black^^ Planing to do a Atx build in red and black with aio cooling. Gone put a Warhammer 40k in it(Necrons, the silent king painted in red and black) to make it look nicer
I had the R5, loved it! but wanted something smaller, so after a couple of years went to a m-atx build. Still: define cases are some of the most versatile and quiet cases.
Nice it even has a 5.25 bay I love that feature DVD drives can be usefull sometimes Well you can also just put a SD card reader there that's much more useful Idk but I like 5.25 bays because there are so much accessories to it not just DVD I mean I have a cooler master haf 932 that has 6 5.25 bays and no one needs 6 DVD drives Seriously i want 5.25 back Otherwise I love this case it's cool and awesome
Looks like im doing a new build in this case. The Meshify C in white that i've been rocking for almost 2 years now is solid so I know this case is dope.
That would be a perfect case to build a liquid cooled Pentium G3220 with a GT730 graphics card mounted on a vertical riser... That would be friggin' sweet!
My question is: can I have a 360 mm rad on the top AND have the slide-out 3.5" shelf thing fully stacked with drives (and an optical one on the top) at the same time? How much does the drive focused build in this limit an aio water cooler and the front fans?
This case looks like a repurposed define R6 or Define C. I have a Define R6 that looks very similar to that case Timmy Joe and I am just about to get the last of my Watercooling doo dads.......... Watercooling build off? Also does this case have any kind of mods that can be bought from Fractal's Website?
I swapped outta thermaltake view 31 to the lian li lancool2 ..Timmy Joe talked me into it :) naw loved the case after he showed it off and swapped cases ..I'm enjoying the lancool2 nicely :)
Sweet ! Sounds like it's a good one ..haven't stepped up to doing custom loops n tubing n blocks n pumps n all that but one day ! Haha glad to see we all aren't rocking cardboard boxes ..haha gotta do what yah gotta do :)
Pretty neat case! I do agree on mesh tho :) my thermaltake view 31 I had like 15 fans in still ran hot because of gpu..gig aorus 2060s has the neon fans on it but stayed hot in that case ..the lancool2 swap helped!! Better air on gpu more directly..put 2 fans inside the psu shroud :)..I would love to see the front breathe a lil more ..cool options on it too :)
1. if there is zero option for optical drive, Pass on purchase. Years ago one chose a case for the number of drive bays 5inch and or 3 inch. for expandability. I have never liked any case that has the door façade front. Can the door be deleted? With that said, your presentation of this transforming multipurpose case is intriguing.
honestly with how the market is today in terms of sales a think a mesh front to start with an optional sound dampend door would have been better. but the base of the define 7 is just an everything case and the XL is an everything case for the threadripper. overall i am a big fracal fan since there ATX stuff has always been very good and in many ways perfected the ATX case. i just don't know how you can really improve what they have with the meshify c, define 7 and define 7 XL in these segments.
It's a beautiful case. Can't argue that at all. Nice features. Though I just bought the dark base pro 900. Hard case to build in, but also sexy too. Seriously the weirdest way to put a psu in a case (in the dark base pro 900)
That's my most hated of cases to build in for sure. I had my main rig in it for a long while and I had to Timmy Rig so many things in to it, This Fractal case takes the Bequiet to the cleaners :)
Just one, labeled for power led. But you can use the leads for hd instead, and use an led light light / strip in the case or even along the front side vents as an alternate.
keep in mind Timmy Joe, this case doesn't support EATX mobos, yeah i know it's big enough but it doesn't have the standoffs for the larger board. Plus it seems there's no standard for EATX as there are for the smaller ones.
hey there Timmy, a while back ago i commented u on another video on wat AIO i should get and u had recommend the castle 240. so, i didnt get the castle, but instead i got the fractal design Celsius 24. i do enjoy watching ur video and i know for a fact that u have more knowledge on computer part then me. The simplicity of the AIO was a big part of the reason why i decided on the fractal instead of the castle. It would be cool if u could make a review on the AIO and do a all out fractal design build using this case and AIO. Also to do a comparison on the AIO and if it turn to not perform better then the castle u can tell me how much of a idiot i am for not listening to u.
My feed just exploded with videos about this case. I don't really understand why though. It's a bloody case. It's not like this is a new Ryzen release. +1 for marketing though as they seemed to have every tech youtuber hyped about this.
Not just "server guys" want a 5¼ optical bay. Audio guys like to rip the full sound quality version of an audio CD, and videophiles want to rip the full 4K Ultra version of a Blu Ray, etc. Just because you may not have the coin for a great audio system or home theater, doesn't mean that other folks don't!
They left out one thing. Flippable motherboard tray and switchable side panels....ok, I guess that is two things. Due to my space my PC HAS to be on the left of my desk so inverted ATX is a must. This case looks great except for that.

outstanding case. more companies should take notes
the drive bay for a optical drive can easily be used for a 3.5" HDD or three 2.5" SSDs. Or you can slap in one of those multi-card reader things.
I wish fractal did a all white version of the case. I would definitely buy and they are half way there!
Carter Wagoner there is an all white version of this.
Check out BPS Customs’ channel, KitguruTech and OC3D. I believe they all three got all white cases.
Loved the review :)
I wish more cases would implement more modularity and have a longer lifespan for their lineups just by replacing modular parts.
This is literally the be quiet dark pro 900 rev 2 fractal design edition
I though I always wanted compact systems but there's something so awesome about long cases that make the components in my pc look small and create a huge space idk it's a small thing but the length makes me feel more badass
I love it when the reflection in the case looks like the left arm, and then all of a sudden a third arm and hand appears from behind the case lol
Bought the same case, Tuxedo version. I think it's important to take your time with a build in a case like this. Plan ahead, doing your best not to overtighten or strip screw threads etc.
Very flexible design and if you didn't plan so well it has you covered for anything.
This was the first review of this case I saw. Just picked it up because I love the possible future expansion into water cooling. I eventually want to go from an AIO to a custom loop, some day.
My favourite RUclipsr hands down.
That's very reasonably priced. I'm so glad entry level cases have gone so far to include premium features now.
looks like I finally found a case to upgrade from my R3.
I'm glad it has a Disc drive since I actually use mine quite a bit.

The Define Series is always a worthy buy.

Agree, when i was use Define C, i can feel the quality Fractal offer.
Maybe i will buy Meshify C, for compact and good air flow.
NO RGB is great, this case gets a big Thumbs Up, aswell as your video Timmy ; )
That PC wobbling on the edge of the table the entire video gave me a full on hernia

5.25" bay is incompatible with big aio like corsair ice h150.
It would be great if they could switch the bay to the bottom it would be perfect ...
got this case in white. no rgb no glass panel. comes with white fans. cleanest build ever

What I like about that case is that you can put a million hard drives in it using space in the front, or just use a few and leave the front open.
Very cool. So nice to see some innovation in PC cases. I might use this as a server case!

If you are just using a fron traidator and no custom loops what do you do with that huge space between the mobo and the radiator?
You could use the multibracket and mount a 3.5, or a theme item. It also opens space for a longer gpu.
So much drives to put in there for my pron!!!
As someone who doesn't want an RGB disco this case caught my attention. But the lack of a front mesh killed my enthusiasm.
This is a really nice case, and for the price, pretty reasonable. I might just get one. :)
Of course they did, all good cases need space for at least one CD/DVD/Bluray.
Would a 320mm graphics card fit in this case with the hard drive bays still in place??
Max is 315mm according to the manual, but only if you remove 2 or 3 hdd slots. 330mm without radiator cooling.
My question is: can I have a 360 mm rad on the top AND have the slide-out 3.5" shelf thing fully stacked with drives (and an optical one on the top) at the same time?
How much does the drive focused build in this limit an aio water cooler and the front fans?
