This channel is the hidden gem of van conversions RUclips. Great stuff. I am currently building out a Promaster and I consult your videos for each step
Thanks so much for the compliment!! So happy to hear my videos have helped you on your build!
Heck ya the OG van that started it all!
It all has to start somewhere!
First time I've seen an external key holder, that's a really neat idea 💡
It’s such a small addition but so handy!!
Mini fridge seat = best mod
Absolutely!!!
Love seeing your first van! If you decide to build yourself a new one, let me know so I can get a less expensive van and still be supporting you! I am 75, adventuresome, fun, and serious too:) I am hooked on watching your new builds too. You are really developing your skills for sure!
I’ll let you know !
@@AnkeneyVanBuilds Hmmm, this offer was before knowing about the use of denim insulation. .... Would need to think about that. But I can for sure see you in a new awesome van. Maybe it is better to be able to show people your humbler beginnings that you still love? Great thought. Still considering. Cheers
aanndd binge watching! great build!
YESSSSSS
I came across your framing vid, then checked out your videos and was pleased to see how your build turned out. Awesome job, and thanks for sharing your knowledge. I also love your Encinitas sticker. That’s a stop I’ll make for sure on my van journey.
Thank you for the compliment!!! I grew up in Encinitas! Great place
Great first build, looks fantastic. Have you had all the wax on your board melt and cover your bed?
It happened to me in 1974, in Encinitas. I had created a camping sleeping area under my Chevy truck topper, my Mexi blanket was unique after that.
Great observation Don. I put a front traction pad on the board for that exact reason ;)
Ps I grew up in Encinitas!
Thanks for sharing this. While I am still impressed with this build, it is amazing to see how much your skills have evolved from this build to your most recent (which is stunning and I encourage those who haven't yet seen it to go check that van tour out)
Thank you Wendi!!! You're right, there has been a lot of improvement since my first van! But you're correct, the most recent build is much better!
@@AnkeneyVanBuilds Hello again! Surprise! I have another question :) It looks like you used the beams from Ikea for your bed support (I only recognize them because I have some in my garage waiting to be installed in MY van). Are the wood boards along the sides just screwed to the beams themselves or do you have them attached to the van walls as well?
@@wendistraight6425 Great eye Wendi! Haha yes they are from IKEA. The wood is screwed into the body structure of the van, and the bed supports are are screwed into that wood!
@@AnkeneyVanBuilds Including the two boards running parallel / attached to the length of the Ikea beams?
@@wendistraight6425 The parallel wooden beams are screwed into the van.
The Ike’s beams are screwed into the wooden beam!
I'm making my way through your videos. Thanks for posting them, they are very useful. I love the dog bed under your bed. I'm definitley going to incorporate that into my build. I have two big dogs.
The dogs LOVE the van! And I know they’ll love yours!
I like see diy on a budget. Has everything I need to live in a van.
This one cost about $7400 once it was all said and done. However that was in 2019 and things were cheaper then lol
@@AnkeneyVanBuilds much cheaper even now if you have someone else build it.
Stoked for you buddy. Gotta head out west to visit y’all sometime soon.
Yes you do!!! Miss ya buddy 🤘🏻
Love your builds.
Thank you so much Don!
Outstanding build!
Thanks dude🤘🏻
You guys did a great job!! And this is your 1st or 2nd build??? Really good space ideas, I also like the stove/oven combo, again great van build.
Thank you!! This was our very first build!!
love the color palette! What stain did you use for the wood and paint for the kitchen galley if you dont mind sharing :) Still deciding on what im going to go with for finished surfaces.
Thanks Andrew!! The counter tops are walnut butch block coated in toung oil, the walls and ceiling are cedar with a natural stain and poly clear coat!
@@AnkeneyVanBuilds Thanks dude!
@@AndrewLaBreck of course!
Notification bell gang!!! Best way to help me out is by LIKING AND COMMENTING!! Thanks in advance!
glad I came across this view, it is more my level as I am on first build a few questions guess you use tong groove pine for walls and roof, really like the mini fridge and placement for swivel seats, what support beams did you use for bed, was really worried about where to store boards so will be using this idea, also how did you secure boards by front roof storage bin
amzn.to/3yOkr9g Here is the link to the bed frame! I used rope and eye hooks into the framing of the roof!
It looks very spacious!
That was the goal!!!!
Colton
Would you please do a segment on the Inergy Solar box. Please pretty please. I’m using the same box and want to know what type of connection I can get to make puck lights work or just any other tips and trick that may help me out. Thanks 🚐🚐🚐
Hi Susan!! The goal zero and apex are very similar! What you can do is get a 12v plug and connect that to a fuse block! And wire your electrical to that. Check out my Goal zero vs Induction cooktop video. And my Ceiling / 12V puck light install video!
Let me know if these help or if you have any more questions
@@AnkeneyVanBuilds will do! I did buy the fuse box. Thanks and keep up the good videos 👍 I really enjoyed your build series.
@@susangriffis4122 thanks so much! I appreciate you watching and following along!
Liked and subscribed. I didn’t see a video explaining all of the wiring on your channel
Hi, I have a few videos talking about wiring! this van specific I just have the fridge, heater, and max fan just plugged right into it
@@AnkeneyVanBuilds thank you for your reply🙂 for the utmost simplicity that sounds super easy. Could I run extension cords for basic appliances like lamps?
@@hollon1697 you absolutely could!
What an awesome video! 🔥
Thank you 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Halfway through the video, awesome first build. What’s the length of your Promaster? 159 (not extended)?
That is correct! 159” high roof. Non extended!
@@AnkeneyVanBuilds perfect! Thank you
@@danzbeard you’re welcome 🤘🏻
What do you think about the foot pump for water vs. electric pump? For small water containers (5-7 gallons) would you still do a foot pump?
I’m actually going to discuss this next week! I would go for the 12V pump! The foot pump doesn’t push out a ton of water so filling up water bottles and stuff is kind of a work out lol
Do you have a video on how you made that space for your webasto heater?
My very first video I ever posted (about installing the webasto) I talk about it at the end. Also in my “Finishing touches” video I posted about a month ago I talk about it there too!
Awesome video! I saw in one of your other videos that you are a 6'2" guy. How are you sleeping in the van? It looks like you have the bed head at one side and foot at the other.
Yeah I have to sleep at an diagonal. If you watch my build series on the newer van I created a better set up to allow for more room
@@AnkeneyVanBuilds I watched the other build video, and I know that was one to sell. Did you get a chance to sleep in that one?
@@sobenson I didn’t sleep in it but I did lay down in it multiple times. Much more comfortable!
sweet build!! do u have a link to the plates and knives?
I can't find the exact ones on amazon but they are made of melamine!
You did great 👍
Thanks!
MRE’s! Been a long time since I’ve seen those! Haha. Some are good, some are disgusting!
*Some are bearable, most are disgusting*
😂😂
I have a new Promaster 2500 on order, it has been seriously delayed with Covid and the chip shortage but will hopefully arrive early January. I have been watching your videos with interest. One question (probably more to come) I have is your floor. I have ordered the factory floor and plan to put vinyl plank over it. Did you anchor your cabinets only to the walls or did you also anchor through your finished flooring. Thanks Tony (ps liked your video on installation of your Maxxair vent.)
I anchored it to the walls and a few through the flooring to subfloor just for extra support. Congrats on your van!
I like everything that you talked about and I like the hooks and I like the shelf but it was to pay attention because of your gorgeous white teeth people would die for those teeth LOL no I really did enjoy your talking
Hahah thanks Karen
Can you pls link the stove/oven
What did you name your van
Bogus 🤘🏻
