- In this video, Adam Knowles from Minn Kota joins us to unveil the exciting new Ultrex QUEST trolling motor. Anglers are now venturing into more challenging conditions than ever before, and that's precisely why the Ultrex QUEST was designed. Let's dive right into the features and see what sets it apart.
FEATURED PRODUCT
• TROLLING MOTOR - Minn Kota QUEST Series (minnkota.johnsonoutdoors.com/...)
COMPLETE OVERHAUL
Starting from scratch, the Ultrex QUEST is a completely redesigned trolling motor, while retaining all the beloved features of the original Ultrex. First off, you'll notice the larger brushless lower unit, offering 30% greater efficiency than the previous model and an impressive 50% more torque at 24 volts. Torque is the power that allows you to cut through weeds and maneuver your boat swiftly. To support this added power, Minn Kota has reinforced and reimagined the mount, bracket, shaft, and pivot points with enhanced durability and rigidity.
TWO DIFFERENT PROPS
Every Ultrex QUEST motor includes two props: the power prop and the weedless wedge. The power prop is ideal for open water, delivering maximum speed and torque. On the other hand, the weedless wedge prop features flare tips to efficiently shed weeds while maintaining performance across all RPM ranges.
ASSISTED STOW AND DEPLOY
The focus with the Ultrex QUEST was to make it easier than ever to stow and deploy. The new trolling motor features an improved the lift assist and even offers aftermarket lift assist cylinders for accessories. Once deployed, the motor automatically aligns itself straight ahead, allowing you to start fishing right away. When it's time to stow the trolling motor out of the water, it turns perpendicular to the mount, eliminating the need to step on the pedal. This feature ensures your forward-facing sonar transducer or other equipment remains undisturbed and facing upward.
NEW FOOT PEDAL
The Ultrex QUEST foot pedal maintains its familiar wire-to-water feel, but with an added programmable One-Boat Network key. This key allows you to engage autopilot, mark waypoints on a Humminbird fish finder, or deploy your shallow water anchors, such as Raptors or Talons.
BATTERY MONITORING
In the importance of maximizing your time on the water to gain a competitive edge, Minn Kota has introduced real-time battery monitoring through your Humminbird fish finder. You can also extend your day by activating eco mode when you reach 20% battery life, conserving power for essential functions.
NEW DRIFT MODE
GPS functionality has always been a standout feature of the Ultrex, and Minn Kota has taken it further with the Ultrex-Quest trolling motor. In addition to the renowned Spot-Lock, the new Drift Mode feature allows you to maintain a target speed and heading while slowing down to match wind or current conditions. It's perfect for fishing expansive flats or areas where you want precise control over your drift speed.
ALL IN ONE BOX
At Minn Kota, compatibility is crucial. All Ultrex QUEST models come with built-in dual spectrum CHIRP or MEGA Side Imaging and include the necessary cabling for connecting to Humminbird fish finders right out of the box. Whether you have an APEX, SOLIX, or HELIX unit, Minn Kota has you covered. Additionally, due to the larger shaft of the Ultrex-Quest trolling motor, you'll find an additional mount for your live transducer, making installation a breeze.

Absolutely amazing
I just installed mine the other day. Replaced my 80lb Ultrex. Storms have kept me off water but I’m pretty impressed. It is well thought out. Mega live / 360 bracket will fit if you saved your bracket hardware. It had the longer bolts and spacers. This thing is a beast. It weighs 14lbs more than my old one. Mount is wider and bolt pattern did not match the holes I used on old mount. It has less options. Mounting screws are thicker. Mount weighs 5 1/2 pounds. All the weak points of old mount have been improved. Just hoping it doesn’t rob MPH off top end with added weight on bow.
Correction. Mount weighs 5 1/2 lb more.
Correct. Ooops.
Time to upgrade from my 2004 MInn Kota Al terrain 24Volt trolling motor!! 😀😀😀
Hope to see a transom mount with the same lower unit. Looks good Minnkota
Minn Kota isn't currently extending QUEST technology to their transom trolling motor lineup.
GAME CHANGER!!!!! (In Mike Iconelli voice)
Sweet something else I can never afford
I've been waiting for this for a year. Didn't want to go with lowrance because humminbirds mapping is so much better.
We've been running the Ultrex QUEST trolling motor for 3 weeks, and in regular contact with pro anglers that have been doing the same. Performance is impressive. Tons of torque, easy lift assist, and the thing is study like a chunk of I-beam steel.
Same as the Lowrance Ghost!
Good job at making a Minnkota GHOST
Minn Kota is an originator, and this new line of trolling motors are the next evolution of their lineup.
Did you fix the on and off switch? I go through two a year.
Still have cable laying on graphs. Would of liked to see a better solution like others have done.
@Wired2Fish If you have to pull the trolling motor up to get around some rocks, grass, or thick stuff while it's still running what is the auto stow position going to do? when does it Engage can you still lift up the trolling motor while running?
I would like to see this question answered also. Good question
Good point
is the new unit better at keeping the boat parallel, or will the wind still push the back end around and face the current or wind.
Will the new Link remote work with the older Ulterra model?
Are they going to allow you to upgrade the old Ultrex? As in the motor?
impressive technology indeed. Never thought fishing would get to a pay to play kind of hobby, the area he was standing on is worth over 10k+
You don’t have to spend that much to fish. Still plenty of places to catch fish from the bank with a cane pole if you don’t want to spend any money.
@@N2theBlue1 even John boats.. or bass tracker with a 60hp. Couple simple rod holders 2 depth finders. And a 12v trolling motor should do just fine
basically a brush-less motor/power upgrade not bad .
It's sweet. A lot more power and overall rigidity. Super easy lift assist, and some cool new One-Boat Network boat control functions.
At the 5:55 time mark you say that you need an additional mount for Mega Live and that it comes in the box with every Ultrex trolling motor. It seems that it doesn't come in the packaging today. Did they drop it and were going to include it?
Does the new model mount to a power pux?
Did they redesign the pivot bushings? Replaced 3 sets in 2 years on my last ultrex
Yes. Total redesign.
If you were really creating a TM for harsh conditions you should have included the auto trim feature. Don’t want to have to scurry to the bow and bend down to change trim manually every time there’s a log or rock in the way.
I was really hoping for a power trim too
Hope Minn Kota fixed the power switch. Mine has been replaced 3 times on my 3 year Ultrex. Other than that, I'm very please with Minn Kota.
Is it supposed to be hard to deploy. Mines so much tougher then my old fortrex
Does 360 mount kit fit quest model?
What about. Spot lock is it more precise
They have come a long, long way from the 565 model i started with.
How are the innovators now trying to keep up with the pack? 🤔
He said turn you boat real quickly. Mines does that now.
Hopefully some of these updates will transfer to the saltwater versions as well
Seriously
Absolutely! Here's the latest on the Minn Kota QUEST technology integration into their saltwater lineup (Riptide Terrova and all new Riptide Instinct trolling motors): mailchi.mp/e59eaf89c4c3/humminbird-introduces-mega-live-imaging-delivering-the-detail-and-clarity-of-mega-imaging-in-live-motion-4920114?e=81dd2470d2
Damn I’m still using my fortrex
Still a solid motor!
How much does the 36v 45" Quest weigh?
curious here to
Saltwater compatible? Weight?
Not this particular model, but they have a saltwater specific lineup too. Here's the details on that: mailchi.mp/e59eaf89c4c3/humminbird-introduces-mega-live-imaging-delivering-the-detail-and-clarity-of-mega-imaging-in-live-motion-4920114?e=81dd2470d2
now just need boat launch mode
1.
take your hand heald remote
to dock click once on launch mode
2.
now go launch your boat by yourself
only thing u must deploy your trolling motor before launch
Where is the kayak version
If you fish alone in chop- hard to beat ulterra. If you go live, hard to bear garmin so staying with multiple systems for now.
Is foot control bigger than a fortrex?
It's very similar in size.
❤❤❤🥰🥰🥰
36 or 24 V??
So, as I see it, trolling motors and electronics are becoming one. If you have Hummingbird Electronics, run a MinnKota. Lowrance electronics, run a Lowrance. The same goes for Garmin. My current boat is a Ranger Z521C with a MinnKota and Lowrance electronics. Hmmm.
Ehh, for bass fishing most guys really don't utilize the graph functions with their trolling motors to be honest.
While there are a lot of cool boat control functions, @MJ_Bass is right that most bass anglers use Spot-Lock and not a lot of other automated boat control features. That's why so many pros run a mix of trolling motors, often not aligned with their fish finder manufacturer.
How much more quite is it?
Over 4 thousand after taxes.
Is it nosies
They call them trolling motors but he never trolled with it….
Why just hummingbird? If I had one I’d rather have Lawrence. I’m just saying not everyone like hummingbird. Some like Garmin. Some like Lawrence.
Lowrance 😂
@@brandonfullenkamp5847lol gottem
Then you buy the garmin force or the Lawrence ghost….minnkota and humminbird are the same company.
Because Johnson Outdoors owns Lowrance and Minn Kota so they want people to buy their products, not a competitors.
Well, at least you got garmin right 1for3
For trolling through jungle vegetation NOTHING comes close to an Ultrex!!!
