This unarguably the most beautiful car in its class
Without question
I recently traded in my 2016 Mazda 6 Grand Touring for a 2018 Mazda 6 Grand Touring Reserve.. well worth the upgrade and I am super happy with my purchase
Great car!
I've watched 10 reviews, and this is the FIRST to speak about the speaker system. I have a 2016 CX-5 and wasn't improved but you mentioned how this was MUCH better than other Mazda Bose systems!
Great nitpicking and thanks for that added reason to me wanting to buy the 6. You can now get a BRAND NEW 2018 signature for 30k ZERO miles!
And two years later they are that much with 25-30k miles.
That's a very good looking car.
Best design
Best interior
Quietest car in this segment
What else??
Just best in class so luxurious.
You missed one very important point - it is easily the best driving car in it's class too with amazing handling for a family sedan
less money for more... Signature is actually cheaper than Camry and Accord top trims.
yeah, all those 8-10 speep transmissions are destroying reliability records and is responsible for toyota and honda nose dive in reliability performance. now they are on par with chevy, chrysler, ford. I won't go near a 8-10 speed transmission, they are too complicated and complex which is why they are not reliable and see so many recalls and problems with them.
Seeing the car in person will make you fall in love frfr
That engine sound is actually nicer than I'd expect from a 4cyl.
The 2018 Signature puts it over the top
I keep hearing Accord is leading over M6 and Camry, but that front grill on the 2018 Accord that someone forgot to finish is just the worst design ever made on a car. Can’t get past it. I would still chose Mazda 6, in white. Black rims and tinted windows. Stunning looking car
HugGest “...that front grill...that someone forgot to finish...” hilarious. Lol
I saw and sat in one recently and have to say it's way nicer than many Mercs, BM's and Audis that are significantly more expensive. Gorgeous lines from the outside and the interior is stunning.
This car needs 2 things to differentiate it as the top of the tree plus remaining competitive. A new, larger infotainment system. And a larger engine, with at least an 8 speed auto.
But elegance, refinement and class are way over something like the Stinger. It just needs those 2 things to be able to compete against other offerings.
Im not big on sedans but that Mazda6 is a cool car!
Traded my 2016 Mazda 6 Touring for the turbocharged Grand Touring! It's been a great car.
My next car is the Mazda6 or a Lexus ES F. I’m leaning toward another M6 to replace my 2015 model.
Man... the 2018’s got sauce
Nice review. I like that you come back after a week of driving to offer final impressions. I traded my 2016 iGT for a Sig and the car just gets better the more you drive it. I drove MANY sedans before buying another 6 and I agree that the 6 is less caffeinated yet feels very solid and composed. Mazda seems to have dialed in the chassis and steering perfectly. I did change out the Falkens and find the 6 rides a little stiffer now with much less body roll. All in all a great, well-engineered and fun car to drive for the money.
ocramidajzj Enjoy the new car! Congrats!
ocramidajzj if you don't mind me asking, which tires did you change yours out for? I changed my stock Mazda6 tires out for Michelin Pilot AS3+
@@davidbrentdrums9890 hi David. I swapped to Yokohama Advan Sport AS. Same as what I had on my 2016 GT. I did have Muchelin Pilot AS3 on my 2016GT before the Yokos, but prefer the Yoko balance of sport and comfort. The Michelins were a bit stiff and wore out VERY quickly (15K miles).
Great review Matt! To bad no manual is offered on the turbo model. More sad news is you can only get the manual on the base sport trim for 2018, but in 2017 you could get the manual in both the sport and touring trim. I feel one gets punished for opting for the manual. At least Mazda offers any manual for now is a plus. Keep up the good work!
I picked up one of the last 2017.5 in april. this is a great car. you feel th g-vectoring when in sport mode and throw it hard into a corner. love these mazdas. will never go back to Honda. mazda gives you more options and bang for the buck. nice review like always matt.
been thinking bout one of these! thanks for the review! keep up the oustanding work Matt!
Nice review, nice job. You have a nice way of speaking nicely and pointing out the nice points if a nice car. Nice!
Great review Matt! I am loving my car in that same color too! Got it about 2 1/2 months ago and am loving every second of driving it!
The numbers are in: 66 nice/nicely comments in 28 minutes. This may be a record people.
Joking aside, I love this channel and appreciate what he is doing. I will be buying him a thesaurus for Christmas though. Matt, can we keep "nice" down to one per minute please?
Good review (as usual). Just bought a Signature with Apple Car Play included - love it!
Android auto?
Yes, does Andriod Auto as well.
Thanks and congrats on the new car!
SteveR Cool. Congratulations on the new car! Enjoy!
How much
Mazda didnt make two many major changes with this, but the subtle changes made a huge difference. And the 2.5T option is definitely nice. Get it in black or red.
Not Machine Grey? Well to be honest it'll look good no matter what color it is.
@@ryanlittleton5615 Yea you're right. Machine Gray would look real nice too!
@@TheAdventureAuto I personally would love to see the Auburn leather from the CX-9 offered in the 6 as well. But that's just my personal opinion. The Chestnut Brown looks a little too dark for my taste, but that being said I haven't seen it in person yet.
Something that no one ever addresses is the comfort of the seats. Sitting in the dealership parking lot tells you a lot. The Camry feels like a cardboard seat compared to sitting in a Mazda 6. I’m not even talking about the Napa leather either.
Gorgeous car. I can see it's lines in my 2018 Mazda3 Grand Touring sedan.
thats a sick car, the interior color doesnt match the red at all but its really sexy looking
I want a new Mazda Speed6 to come out
and a Speed3
Apparently they're too "childish" for Mazda to bring back. I hope they do bring them back as well, but for the next generation of 3s. I'm not a fan of this current one at all.
If this car had around 300 hp with the same amount of torque, manual tranny, and awd, it would have been one hack of a sport sedan!
@@southpaw117 the owner's manual's front page poem literally had the world children. Saying that zoom-zoom is a phrase that we say as a child.
@Shinidoshi I am just referring to it as MazdaSpeed
Such a great car! Too bad it's almost ruined by the truly annoying, arrogant fanboys (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE) that try to justify this car's weak points to it's competitors (Accord, Camry, etc) as somehow advantages. Which is such a shame because it's not Mazda's fault and they've built a great car, and is still my personal favorite in the segment.
The Grand Touring Reserve is 5k less than the comparable Accord Touring. ventilated seats :)
I love Mazda! Making people realize that this is better than the Accord and Camry 😜
Idkkk i like the power and looks of the accord 2.0t as well
Matt, great review. As the father of 3, this is my front runner to finally replace my 09 6 Touring 6spd someday in the next few years, probably preowned 1 or 2 years though. The $32,500 Mazda 6 is actually the Grand Touring Reserve model, there is a regular Grand Touring model though for just over 30K, the cheapest way to get the 2.5T engine. I really wish they would offer a manual with this engine, just as Honda does with the 2.0T, but I seriously doubt they ever will.
WB Wayne I don’t know where you are from, but you are talking MSRP. I can get a GT M6 for $27k + tax brand new 2018 with 2.5 turbo. Shop around 5-6 dealerships and push them down with price.
@@LifeISMagix
I know that is MSRP, thank you though. Just meant the cheapest model 6 that comes equipped with the 2.5T. My wife is in line for the next vehicle purchase. We never like to have more than one vehicle payment at a time. We tend to buy preowned, 1 to 2 years old. I like to let someone else take the depreciation hit.
All his reviews are great
A new Mazda 3 with this same engine and manual transmission... yeah, I'd see myself getting one.
Ok I own two cars. A 2010 Chevy Impala V6 that I've own for 8 years & 2014 Toyota Camry Se Sport 4CYL. Impala a high way cruiser and Camry great in the city for gas and parking. Honestly I bought my Camry pre-owned last year not impressed with it. Planning to trade her in next year . My brother has a 2013 Mazda 6 loves it. My oldest cousin had a Mazda 626 brand new back in 1998 which she got rid of it in 2011 it was reliable. I might just consider this car .God it looks so good in the red. I used to like Mazda back in the 90s when they had the 626 & Millenia by the early 2000s I thought they went down hill. But they seem to be doing good in the styling department
Nice looking car. Too bad you can't get the manual 6 in the turbo. What's up with that?
J Wright, because they don’t really sell that’s why they got rid of manual. It’s a numbers game and majority of sales are automatics...
The best looking mid size sedan in the segment, inside & out
Waiting for the rear wheel drive Mazda 6 with the inline 6 engine
Is that a wish? Or coming soon? Cause I would love that as well:)) They already have AWD new Mazdas. Lets hope they ll do it.
@@japanluv it's coming but probably be another 1-2 years
@@st.thomas5802 I think 2021 rolling out in USA to start with.
Drinking game: 1 "nice" 1 shot ;)
4 minutes in and I can’t pour fast enough...
66 shots in 28 minutes...you'd be dead.
Slap awd, 8 speed auto, Michelin pilot sport tires, a little more horsepower and torque and you got a beast!!
...and an update infotainment system but agreed!
Mazda has improved alot in quality materials. For what cars cost it's great to see a spare tire versus a worthless mini compressor or can of fix a flat is ridiculous.
Mazda has done of a great job when giving the Mazda6 a second facelift with a superb new 2.5 turbocharged petrol engine giving a better ride and throttle response.
Mazda’s certainly look good for the average commuter sedan.
I wish Mazda would go after the Stinger’s market. We need a successor to the original 1G G35 Sedan with manual.
They are now...the next generation 6 will crush.
Really good review matt .Thank you.
Beautiful Japanese car ever
Mazda please give us a 2 door Mazda6 signature with this design ...
Hennessy * that would be something !
I'd love to have that
How would you compare the driving experience (handling) between the Mazda 6 and the new Accord Sport?
I just picked up this very car in the 2020 model.
Great review Matt, very detailed! Good conclusion in the end. Mazda is going after Lexus, Infinity and Acura with their signature trims. The only thing missing is AWD in the 6 to truly go after those. Also, the trim level you're trying to explain in the end is Grand Touring Reserve, step below the signature at $33.5 grand.
Thanks. I like these cars.
If they would just make an AWD version, they'd bury their competition.
But the vast majority of the competitions don’t have AWD?
@@edwink1467 exactly. Although now Altima and Camry both do have AWD, it would be a significant advantage over the FWD counterparts that many people in areas with winter weather would buy
Waiting on the 6 cylinder co-developed with Toyota. Either that or I may try the Jaguar xe 35t. While I enjoy my NA 4 cylinder Mazda 6, I want a 6 cylinder badly.
Always love the reviews. Thanks. A little disappointing that you dont know what fuel is in it though. A lot of us car enthusiasts are really interested in knowing about the power delivery, especially those of us coming from the 6's from prior generation without the turbos. I'd love to know if the opinion you reflected in this video was at full power or 87 power.
Well Mazda says it makes the same power on either octane up to 4k rpms anyway, and the automatic short shifts at just over 5k all the time anyway so I don’t think you’d feel a huge difference between the 2 octanes.
Driven ‘87 626 and some day will be back to Mazda 6 but this time manual.
Hey, Matt. What do you think of Mazda's decision to not sell a manual option? Does this car need one?
It would be nice but I can’t blame them for not offering it on the 2.5T, the market for it would be tiny sadly.
Great review Matt!
It is a pretty nice looking car. Maybe will come around to Mazda someday, but still like Honda/Acura
0-60 times are irrelevant in a family sedan(I know it’s a point you have to cover though), in the real world these cars are amazing. The way the car communicates and drives is unparalleled in its class. It’s just so much better. In my experience the Accord isn’t as pure as the 6, but to each his own.
iDrive4fun93 What do you mean? Not being a jerk...genuinely interested.
If it had high performance tires it would do sub 6 seconds
it's so stupid that mazda cancelled the best car in the segment, particularly when it would be hitting its stride as its most direct competitors switch to cvts
Mazda has been flirting lately with softer more cushy settings as they did with old 626 before Mazda6 came out in 2003 . I think it is a mistake but they should have true sports package on all trims where it comes with sport tires 245 width, and lower stiffer springs along with stiffer Anti roll bars. This way it could easily smoke Camcords in everyway and offer super balanced feel between sporty and luxurious of current model!!!!
12:35
Disappointment...
Thanks
@Matt Maran Motoring Other reviews I seen prefer this is more lovely then the accords etc, interesting, i have a 2014 first year with the touring trim and it came with dunlop's i put in a different tires, i didn't like stock tires.
I have the Mazda 6 GT Reserve. Almost as luxurious as the Signature. It is an extremely plush car for the money. But I do wish it came with wider 235 tires, and the turbo engine, while faster than the normally aspirated version, is lacking compared to the competition. IT never wows you, it feels a little too linear in its acceleration and the worst part is that the engine cuts off at 5k. I took it on a spirited drive using manual shift mode and I kept bumping the red limiter. If they shifted the torque curve another 2k rpms and made the redline 7krpm, it would have been such a sweet engine and it would make about 280-290hp too. Mazda missed the boat with this engine imho.
Hey matt... I know it's late but... What do you think about the european bullitt? It has ugly side mirrors and white tail lights, I don't know but it seems like it's not so bulitt-y for me... And they don't have the performance gauges too...
Niceeee review!!!!
i have an off topic question tho if you dont mind me asking.
Out of the two cars below which one will you choose?
1. 2016 mustang ecoboost premium 35k miles
2. 2017 mustang ecoboost standard 20k miles
Assume both around the same price
Asking cuz i'm mostly likely getting 1 of these although im still looking at inifiniti qx30
do you forsee yourself having more than one passenger often? Between the mustangs here there isn't much difference. The 2017 mustang has a few exterior tweaks, and a few more color options. So, if you can find one in the color you want you can't go wrong, since everything else is about the same.
i'm not going to have a lot of passengers on a daily basis because it's just me and my gf and she has a car as well. i guess i will see when i test drive them. but i was just wondering just how worth it are leather seats and other premium options because i wont be getting those if i do get standard 2017 ecoboost
It all depends on how much you like the extra features. Personally, I’d go for the Premium even if it means getting a car that’s one year older and has 15k more miles. Not only do you get heated and cooled leather seats, you get the Sync3 infotainment that has Apple CarPlay and Android auto too. Again, some don’t care about these things but a lot do.
Thanks!!!
Matt, in your opinion, is the CX-5 more fun to drive than Mazda 6?
You just showed there was a tune option it lit up at 5:38
I think the guy is a little bit.... special.
the name 2.5T reminds me of the Wrx Sti engine
Anyone knows exact geo of that back road? Someday I’d want to give it a go in my own supercar.
😂😂😂😂
Dude thinks it’s a transmission tunnel when it’s a front wheel car and is more focused on looks and all the bells n whistles.
Funny how he fails to mention the seats are redesigned for better posture and back support .
The 2018 Mazda 6 has thicker steel for cabin and frame ... that’s why it’s quieter not the 19 “ rims .
What would you rather have? A brand new Mazda 6 or a three year old BMW 435i with 20K miles?
Mdos tough choice - my heart says either; my head says Mazda.
Mazda6
$3.15 for gas up there?? That must suck. Here in SC it is $2.36 today.
In philly ,regular gas is $3.15 , $3.18. Premium can go up to $3.34
In about a years time I will be able to buy my first supercar. I am stuck between the Corvette ZR1 and the Mclaren 570s. I need help on which one I should get. I love the performance and the daily driveability of a supercar, yes I know I should daily a supercar but screw it. But what I care more about is the respect I will get on the road only being 25. Which one should I think about getting?
I feel your pain brother. I will be in a similar position soon and I am considering either a Yugo GVX or an '87 Ford Escort GT. ;)
While the ZR1 puts up super at numbers it still doesn’t feel like a supercar in its experience. I’d do for the McLaren, they’re a blast if you can afford it.
Which supercar did you end up getting?
@@waheedsubhani3329 Waited for the C8!
@@Dante-xv2hr Nice! In my opinion, it's a great car.
I like Mazdas, having had four, including my wife's current. One thing that bothers me is the touch screen looks like it was mounted on the dash, like a modified design add on. Just incorporate into the dash console, contouring it up an inch, if necessary and ELIMINATE the separate MANUAL climate control cluster! The audio controls are 2019 & the climate controls are 2001 vintage & separated, so you must still look down to find them! If you're going to update, make it all ONE touchscreen control! Make a midsize truck or an RX10 X?
Who agrees that Mazda should put this motor in the Miata/mx-5?
Matt 1440p :D
If I new Mazda was coming out with a Mazda 6 Turbski I would have waited before buying my wife a Grand Touring.
COOL Review: 2018 Mazda6 2.5T
If this had a good torque vectoring AWD I would buy a Signature 6 over an A4 no questions asked. And yes, I have driven both.
ChaoticCorruptor Why ? Not being a jerk. Genuinely interested.
*THOUGHT IT WAS A BUICK.*
Grand national please 🙏
Whose filming outside of the car ??? Lol
DAMN it's a pretty car. I would consider trading my 2016 mazda 6 iTouring for this car. My compliant with mazda is they should offer a different wheel design.
Are the ventilated seats better than the Accord tho?
When I test drove the accord it seemed like the ventilated seats did nothing.
Especially compared to the Kia, the Kia and Hyundai brand do an amazing job on ventilated seats.
Just wondering what your thoughts on all three brands that do ventilated seats
Yes.
Damn Matt, hate Mazdas do you?
Mazda is the best
put two twin scroll turbos in it and it will still be fuel efficient this is a good race car engine
Mazda beste Auto 👍👍👌
❤ mazda ❤
Those horsepower numbers are joke compared to the Accord. The torque number is nice though.
Stay_salty_fam get some intakes and a tune and my golly gosh it will be a beast
It's a family sedan. Let's not start throwing around horsepower numbers to compare sizes lol...
Alex I’d have a hard time taking one over an accord 2.0t because of the speed differences
Have you heard of the story about the FORD FOCUS ACTIVE not coming to states either because of TrumpTraffis? i dont know if its true or not but at LEAST its what i've heard recently :/
Ventilated seats only come with the signature trim if I remember right.
That would annoy me very quickly the transmission upshifting too soon. Honestly that would be a dealbreaker cuz it robbs the engine from reaching peak hp and torque. Has anyone driven it that can comment on this? Or any noticeable turbo lag?
It's just sooo fuckin' awesome ❤😍❤👍❤👏❤👌❤
NA is 187 hp 285 lb ft torque
Compare to the 2.0 turbo's such as Toyota, Malibu premier these cars come with a more modern 9 or 10 speed automatic transmission that really helps these cars out. The 6 speed actually hurts the performance of this fine car. Mazda finally installs a wonderful motor but with 0 to 60 coming in at 6.7 and the competition with the smaller 2.0 doing 0 to 60 in the range of 5.3 to 5.7 and quater mile times in the low 14 seconds range. Mazda
finally did a good job with this car but the motor would be more happier with more gears.
6.4s according to motortrend and car and driver.

The car can not decide what gear it wants to be in. It randomly jumps and skips and bucks. I have had the car in 4 times. Test drove with a tech and he felt it and said it's not right. Toyota sent in a tech and wrote on my report that erratic shifting is normal there is nothing wrong with the car. What!! Are you kidding. Toyota or the dealer wants to fix the problem. The car is not safe. DO NOT BUY THIS CAR. IT IS NOT SAFE

The 8 to 10spd gears are not reliable. Plus they tend to "hunt" for the right gear. Honestly, tops could be 7spd however the 6spd is fine - and reliable.
