I also took Daniel's recollection of his father's talk in the car to be a total fabrication in a desperate attempt to save his mother, curious if you found that too
I also heard that Justine told her to play the role as if she was innocent, but that just makes it harder for the audience. Yeah, I agree with Sandra, as you've seen, I can't imagine her purposefully letting Daniel be the one to discover the body. It's interesting about Daniels recollection there, there's so many things that can be thrown out as concrete evidence, but on an emotional level we use to judge the characters, I really don't know if that was true or not I think I can lean either way there. I hope it was true just because it was a beautiful moment, to me Daniels emotions felt real there.
@@WillWatches The speculation that the conversation is Daniel's fabrication is that we never hear Samuel speak those words as we heard him speak in the flashback. He's literally lip-syncing to Daniel's voice - Daniel is speaking because Samuel never said those words.
@@prestuviusi agree, but people keep saying you hear samuel in the flashback, but that isn't a typical flashback, they were hearing their voices in court, no one was telling a story or remembering smthing
Agreed about then movie breaking the fourth wall. Not only in the delayed relief scene that you talked about. But also, even more blatantly, in the scene where Marge is telling Daniel how, if one doesn’t have enough evidence, one has to decide what to believe.

I take the movie to be about narratives -- the way that two people can have a very different interpretation of the same experience, And in the end, it comes down to a judgment call about which narrative account feels most right, but it's never definitive.
You were kind of on track about the final scene. The dog, Snoop, is the teller of truth. Snoop always goes in and out of scenes watching Sandra, making sure she is ok. Dogs can sense when someone is evil or bad, so the final scene of Snoop and Sandra snuggling, to me, shows she is innocent.
It is something I'm interested in, but I don't have it scheduled in There's so much becoming available right now, which is great, but to fit everything I want to see in, balance what might do well on the channel and fulfil Patreon requests, It's been difficult

i read a theory about daniel faking that whole story about his dad since we hear daniel saying it, and not the father. something like that.
