When I was a kid in the 90’s, my family bought the VHS to a Land Before Time and Sister Act at the same time and watched them one after the other. To this day, my family still makes fun of me for crying in A Land Before Time one minute then dancing and laughing to Sister Act the next.

Both are great but the sequel Back in the Habit is absolutely iconic

Thats always been a mob, mafia kind of thing. But it always shows them as cold blooded killers, into gambling corruption and any number of other crimes. But there Always Hard core Catholics. Bow to the word of the pope kind of Catholics. After all it makes a weird kind of sense, Catholics believe in Confession, so as long as they confess all there sins ti there preacher then they can be forgiven there Sins. Sure there still criminals and sure they can still end up in prison or killed, but there soul is safe and they are heaven bound.

I thought it was really funny that you thought "I will Follow Him" was Bohemian Rhapsody at the start. I'd never really thought about it, but the opening notes and rhythm are similar. That's great.

Maggie Smith's son, Toby Stephens is a talented actor who appeared in the Lost in Space TV reboot and the TV series Black Sails. Both shows were good but Black Sails rocks.

The one thing I know isn't factual: It took them 2 days to rescue the survivors. The helicopters arrived late and it was windy. Those who were in worse shape, were flown away first, while a rescue team spent one evening with the survivors in the fuselage. They could barely stand the stench, but they didn't make a fuss about it. They understood perfectly the survivors needed them there, to stay with them, to feel them, to sleep next to them..... the next day, they were all flown away. Soon after a team retured with a priest, and gave a properly buried the remains of the dead. Then they dosed the wreckage with gasoline and set it ablaze, to prevent it to be vandalised.

The way I interpreted the ending is it was the audience's hopes and dream for the couple.

Discovery of tools = violence. The Cain and Abel myth says the same thing. Abel was a shepherd, using simple tools. The first murderer, Cain, was a tiller of the ground, a user of more advanced tools.

Wendy Makkena who played Sister Mary Robert had her singing voice dubbed by Andrea Robinson. Sister Act II: Back in the Habit is worth the watch. The only returning characters from the first film are the nuns. You’re the second reactor I’ve viewed who connected Sister Mary Patrick to John Candy.

My only disappointment with the original Trainspotting was that they left out Begbie's back story, which was a key part of the novel & the play. T2 made up for it, while being an amazing exploration of nostalgia for those of us who remember the 80s & 90s. There was also the bonus of far more recognisable Edinburgh scenery than in the first one.

I believe the Pope in this movie is supposed to be Pope John Paul II, I got to perform for Pope John Paul II with my college choir, he really did love music and would definitely have been clapping along in the back while bobbing his head

Dropped acid when my wife and I were exploring the pyramid and ruins at Chitzen Itza on our honeymoon. We had never seen this movie. Unexpectedly, the tour bus guides showed Sister Act on the way back to the hotel. Everybody on the bus was loving the movie, laughing and enjoying the music. It was awesome and capped off a wonderfully spiritual experience.

I believe the one with partial hair exposure is a novitiate (ahe hasn't quite taken her vows yet but is on the road to doing so)

If you wonder why there is ZERO chemistry between her and her married bf Harvey Keitel it's because Whoopi Goldberg was not supposed to be cast: singer/actress Bette Midler was but she passed on this role to star in For the Boys which was not a financial success that Sister Act was but did win her a Golden Globe. The woman playing Keitel's wife was in the excellent comedy Private Benjamin with Oscar winner Goldie Hawn. Some of Goldberg's best films: The Color Purple where she was Oscar nominated, Ghost where she won an Oscar, Fatal Beauty a dramedy, and Jumpin' Jack Flash a dramedy. Depending on the order, the clothes can vary. A CLASSIC film about nuns that is quite funny with Haley Mills(TRAP) is called The Trouble with Angels.

Sister Mary Lazarus was played by Hollywood legend Mary Wickes. She often played the comedic role in many of the biggest Hollywood films from the 1930s thru the 1960s. She was a very popular and well-loved actress throughout her career. It was great to see her have a career resurgence in the 80s and 90s.

Sister Act 2 has Lauryn Hill, which we always need more of…

The sequel is absolutely worth watching.

Oh, if youre watching Whoopie movies, youve got to see what she won an Oscar for best supporting actress in: Ghost. Unless youve already seen it. Its not "high brow Cinema ", but shes so charmingly good in it. 👍

Oysters and lemon mignonette - Common flavors put together that have to be broken down and deconstructed, foreshadowing what happens to the guests. This is meant to be taken as Chef throwing down the gauntlet. Amuse Bouche - More foreshadowing. Charred lace - crater. Milk snow - ash from the fire. Cucumber and melon - the guests. The Island - Scallop on a rock - Chef presenting himself to the guests. Plants - "in the weeds" Breadless bread plate - straight up snarking at picky customers. But you can also make a case for Lilian's plate having a broken emulsion on purpose as his way of saying SHE'S as useless as a broken emulsion. Memory - Self explanatory The Mess - Pressurized vegetables - literal pun. Bone marrow - blood. Beef jus - sweat. Potato confit - tears. As a whole, it's essentially a dead body with blood pouring out. It even has a hole for the bullet. Man's Folly - Plum vinegar exists because of Umeboshi, whey plays a vital part in making yogurt, sea kelp and lettuce are what keeps the oceans biome from wreaking havoc. But everyone either doesn't know that or forgets, because they don't taste good, aren't as attractive, or can be very difficult to work with in their natural form. It's the same with women, especially when they try to speak out against unfair treatment like what the chef describes. They get called things like "bottom feeders", like crabs. Final scene with Margot/Erin eating the cheeseburger - She didn't care about giving him peace of mind. She just wanted to survive. And Chef acknowledged that. Using his menu as a napkin - She never believed anything he said for one second. She is, in fact, a taker that knows her worth. And that's why she lived.

and, this movie should've won the 'best picture' academy award. it was robbed by that other movie which no one watches or talks about anymore.

The focus on the white family/people bothers me, too, and certainly pulled me out of the story a bit. - Having said that, there's still a lot I love about this film, not just the disaster aspects and amazing sound design and acting, but the emphasis on people helping people and the genuine importance of doing this (which we don't often see a ton of in apocalyptic movies, only ever a tiny bit for which many are punished as in the Walking Dead). - It also helps my opinion of this movie to have learned more about the real family who this story was based on and their involvement in the film. - But yes, it was a South East Asian tsunami, and those were the people who didn't get to leave or go to a hospital in Singapore. Those were the vast, vast majority of people in need of rescue.

I resonate with this movie SO much. I didn't start my transition till I was 36. So many years feeling like I was being slowly suffocated. The ending especially hit me. When Owen opened his chest and saw the beauty inside, it really feels like something a lot of trans people yearn for. We want to claw our skin off to see our true self underneath. I was confused at the ending until I sat and thought about it for a bit. Sadly, a lot of trans stories end there, at that moment. You hit a breaking point, and you either go one way or another. Stay in a "safe" but hell-filled life, or risk it all and try to be yourself. Wonderful review of the film. <3

The stupid way you laugh all of the time. You've seen this movie at least three times before.

I really recommend the behind the scenes feature on Netflix RUclips channel, something like 40 minutes on the shooting of the movie. The actors all were on a diet to lose weight "in real time" as it was being shot, in sequence. And with so much of it being shot on location on a mountain in Spain, can't have been easy. But it really makes it so much more believable.
