I'm glad I found this video. I've been working on a bassline only using ableton's stock instruments and got more clarity and a great example with this tutorial. Thanks, keep it up!

I tried using a couple of the instruments that come with Live 11 Suite to make a good PsyTrance bass, but I always seem to end up with a result that sounds too thin, tried using Operator, and a Max for Live plugin called Bass.

For psytrance bass I'm using mostly operator , wavetable , serum and sometimes Vital ( which is also great) . I don't know others where you can make very good bass. Yes in the past it was Trilian. But now , most pro producer are using serum or vital for bass

Nice bass! I don't really see you using any features unique to wavetable let's say versus using operator. Well you do use 2 filter envelopes which I guess you can't do on operator, but as Artur Godlewski stated this should not really make a difference when they have the same decay. But I guess they could sound different anyways... Anyways, thanks for the tutorial! Keep em' coming.

My one complaint about Wavetable is the inability to retrigger the phase position of the oscillator. Wavetable randomizes the phase position each time a note is triggered. This is great for analog style effects but for psytrance basses you want the same consistent note. The work around is to render several notes to audio, then pick the note you like and then drop it into a simpler or sampler.

      Yes. You're right

making the transitions between the loops?
    Can anyone recommend loopless tracks?

@@jaraluca 1 many beginner musicians have a problem. How to go from one musical segment (loop) to another. Tips
2 In psytrance I have not met loopless tracks. It is difficult to explain in words what it is, because psytrance is practically based on it. But I can only recommend listening to Estas Tonne and perhaps you will understand what I mean when the musical parts are not repeated exactly as they sounded. There is no ladder of loops

I think all is looped, when it comes to vocals or shout outs or something that dont "Sound looped" could it be from all of arrangement. Imagine this Clip view with a keyboard synth or with push 2 from ableton, while Clip section from the uppest row is starting, the people would see uppest row playing, but the "producer" is thinking some steps further with good arranged reverse crash or this Bell Sounds, all what got much echo or something (im to beginner to say all is true 😅 im just thinking about how it could Look like. When it comes to producing I think there is a rly thin iceplate that cut producing from "dj mixing" and if u hear how a dj is arranging the "bigger parts that he/she can arrange and play" then u can seperate maybe more sounds, to build them like u like. How to get your "own stamp" is how I think the hardest Part. Dont forget your beeing in a Party waiting for the drop :D and the less loop sounding sounds is reverse crash I think, obviously is all looped, but to get some parts not to Sound like this, is a Part of the Art and fun 😁) long () I know sorry 😂 back to push 2. Now imagine u would Start the clips with mouse or keyboard, with other synths or push2 u could just develope every Clip or "pad" dono which Effects the push or push 2 does have, but u could Set the knobs of it to get smooth transitions :D so in all producing is something like mixing with hell well prepared loops :D and when u think about to connect it to a mixer or dj Controller there would be maaaaaany options to get smooth or shity transitions :D try it, ableton 11 suite is easy to get with 90 day trial

What's the difference between assigning one envelope to filter at say 50% vs 2 identical envelopes at 25%. I think (I'm sure, actually) there's none. Instead, you should try applying Env3 - made much shorter, this time - to oscillator pitch, to get a kick-like 'thump' at the transient of the baseline.
But otherwise it's an awesome tutorial. Gotta listen to your albums right now :)

Im pretty sure you're right. But I just shown my way for this bassline and I made it for my taste. Also it's depends of what do you want to achive, then you set ADSR for you taste and expectations. And for sure you can get same results as mine in other ways ☺ the most important is that this way works fine 😁 thanks

@@jaraluca No doubt! Be sure to check that pitch modulation trick. If done just right it's surprisingly effective in tightening the bass, especially in faster tempos :)
