I think I heard these tips. Let me know if I missed anything...
    1. Glance briefly around the room & see if it's reciprocated. Don't stare.
    2. Just say hello. High fives. Cheers.
    3. Casual comment about the shared space. Mention something about the bus. The pool. The place. Traffic. Weather.
    4. Compliment the person: accessories, clothes
    5. Conversation formula: Question + Answer + Statement = Ask a question about their opinion about something, listen & share your own opinion. Magic word = "because"
    6. Start with small talk & move to big talk. Share what actually matters to you.
    7. Leading with a little vulnerability. Share something emotionally real with you. No facts. What your excited about & what your struggling with.

I would avoid complimenting of superficial things if possible and use trait compliments ie. sense of humor, fashion and style, worldview. Much more powerful.

i feel if they made improving your conversation-skills, social-skills, social abilities, part of the education system, it should be mandatory for men but optional for women, because guys, men, are expected to do the heavy-lifting when it comes to social interactions between a man and a woman
