After several failed attempts, I've finally figured out how I want my roads and train tracks to look in my LEGO city, so now all I need to do is put them together! In this video I show you how I'm building my custom road plates with train tracks to simulate having trams in my city!

I love how you have the building construction Lego in areas in which there aren’t any buildings as if they are building the whole city.
Loving the new road plates, looks awesome
Looking good and I agree that 2 tiles depth is better for the curbs. It gives more definition and although it’s technically out of scale virtually nothing in Lego is.
I've got the JAZZ CLUB & DELIVERY VAN SETS. If you look at the package in the DELIVERY VAN it says "to JAZZ CLUB" as well as that it's full of musical instruments so your van is headed to the JAZZ CLUB.
That road and rail plate does look really tidy, 👌
Yes it’s been a pain and a lot of trial and error but I think you’ve come out of this with a better design and slicker looking alternative 👍
Looking good. I’m exactly at the same point. think the white line assy looks slightly better if the white line is positioned nearer the kerb rather than than next to the road plate. Give it a try and see if you agree. Cheers
I love the road tram you have done great tutorial only wish you put parts list on hope you will show us how to do bends next great city
looks great Kev
i think the road plates look good
I'm using the exact same design and it works great. One thing I did is to create halve baseplate sections with the pedestrian crossing. This has 2 benefits:
1. The minifigs can safely cross the road.
2. You can 'cover' modulars which are not the standard 32 studs wide.
And another suggestion found be to customize your curbs so you might have ramps leading up to the entrance of the Corner Garage, so vehicles don't have to drive up the curbs ;-)
But great yob you're doing!
Yeah, I’ll be customising stuff once I’ve finalised a city layout (at least for now). While I’m still adding modulars I’ll be constantly moving stuff around, so not much point yet!
Great work with the road/rail plates, looks brilliant.
Great job! Now… the turns will be a headache… looking forward to see it! Congratulations for your channel!
So clean and sharp. I love them!
Last week I did my first road for my speed champions but after watching yours I will be restarting it again lol. Are you doing the road trip to Lincoln on the 1st of June as I see you do like to travel.
I love the city comes together!
I think you need to add one more plate underneath your rail track. Otherwise you get in trouble with the curves. The curves need to be on tiles to get them on a baseplate.
What I noticed is that I also had to raise the road one plate to keep the feeling of embedded tracks in the road.
The city looks great :) for the drains the grill piece can further improve the look .
I think this road layout is going to hit the buffers when it comes to the curves. You would have been better making the whole thing one plate higher. Or raised the tracks. Otherwise you are not going to be able to attach the curves. Unless you use a lot of round 1x1 tiles to hold the track in place.
Nice👍
I like what you are doing with your city and love the enthusiasm you and your partner share in this new hobby. Please keep up the great work.
Thanks, will do!
Wow!!! This is looking spectacular. Great work!!
Thank you! Cheers!
you've got yourself mils plates they would be compatable with my monopoly table. I built a monopoly board and still building using the new lego road plates and the speed champions as game peaces when It's finished I'll figure out how to upload to brick studio so your can have a look, probably not going to upload until I'm finished my board
We’re did you get your series 25 picture frame thing please
Amazon I think
Hi there Kevin, the new Downtown Tram is not powered - it does not have a motor and it does not look like it can easily be modified to have a motor and battery pack.
Best wishes and take care. Kind regards, Peter Skuce, St Albans. Hertfordshire.
It'll be pretty easy to add a motor to it.
Great work on those plates, have you considered putting the tram on a shuttle control rather than loop? @blockpartyuk
