All MK1 fatalities, characters and arenas reimagined in their 3D glory!
Mortal Kombat is one of my favourites in the series. I'm proud to present this video as a homage to all of the beautiful artwork, level design, characters and music that was created for this game. What an outstanding, timeless classic!
*watch MK2 reimagined as a 3D game here! (older vid): • Mortal Kombat 2 (1993)...
I created the technique that was used to create this video. Can you find all the MK1 easter eggs?
Thank you to the developers of this game (Ed Boon and John Tobias - and don't forget Dan Forden's incredible soundtrack) for creating a timeless masterpiece.

Thanks! I just saw this :) Appreciate the support
Agreed! Fantastic!
Mortal Kombat 11 looks fantastic on the switch
Oleksandr Krasnozhon yeah for switch graphics it’s truly amazing.
It was the best seller for the month of April on the Nintendo switch
I know this was a joke, but i think that MK11 is actually pretty good on switch. They did have to sacrifice graphics for gameplay and making it run at 60fps instead of the usual 30fps on other switch games. The Krypt can kiss my ass though, it does looks terrible.
The only bad part of non Nintendo games on switch is the hair
Looks fantastic on PS4 Pro in 4k hdr also lol
I'm the most impressed by the stage transitions. It really gives you a perspective of the stages, that I've never thought about

Amazing
this is actually MK9 on the lowest settings
JK
@CatandBonez This is something completely different. MK9 uses 3d models which were modeled by artists, levels made by level designers, etc. This sample is of a 2D game extruded into 3d using software and/or simlilar tools. LOL Don't compare it cuz you can't. One game is made by a big team of AAA staff while this was made by possibly one person.

OUTSTANDING
This sounds like a better game than any of the new MKs
This is fucking awesome. I would buy this as DLC in a heartbeat
The Mortal Klassiks dlc.
Now imagine if this was the original game in 1992
Street fighter and tekken would copy
Then today's video games would be more advanced
It would be cool, but entirely impractical. Arcade cabinets weren't exactly powerhouses and the monitors showcasing the game were even less so; any 3D image would have taken a hit from the technology of the day. Effectively, whether or not it could be 3D wouldn't matter. It would still look like MK1 but worse due to 3D models and textures instead of pictures of real people. Not to mention actually animating the models.
In fact, we've actually seen 3D Mortal Kombats at or above this level of modeling. They were bad until MK9 revitalized the series. If this vision of the game were to release in 1992, people would only see a butchered mess trying to be too ahead for its time. It already pushed boundaries with blood and gore, that's what sold the game. :)
EVERYONE WOULD BAN
Hubiera sido aún más sensacional
Incredible.
Edit: this should be a full game, accessed from the krypt in MK11
If only! Thanks BTW

Even though Mortal Kombat 11 is superior in almost every aspect? Just because the game suffers from the pitfalls of modern gaming doesn’t mean it’s a failure in every other aspect. Gameplay, Story, Fatalities, Graphics, you name it and it’s probably the best it’s ever been.

If you ever played WARGODS by Midway, you can definitely see the resemblance... what, wait... MIDWAY ??.. MORTAL KOMBAT's Midway.. ?!!

WOW ... that was amzazing. Its the first time i got into the impressive feeling like i had as a child.
Disabled blood and fatalities was the standard version of the game in germany. I didn’t know the brutal reality of the game as a child. Suddenly at a evening in my dark room Sonya killed me with her fatality like a glitch. WTF ... i couldn’t sleep for two days because it was so impressive for me. I told every one what i’ve seen until I got the cheat code to activate blood und fatalities and the notations to do all the hard stuff by self. I couldn’t belive it. I will never forgot how it was.
Iam a fan of this serie from beginning and have seen a lot of videos and stuff from all MKs. But i never had this feeling again as in old times. But your video did it to me. At the old times there was no 3d stuff. But in my mind this old games were fully 3d with my fantasy. Exactly as u did in the video I dreamed from the game.
You made my day sir. Thank for this!
I like your zoom out of the stage while the "original" animation of the fight. Great idea and give more connection to the game. In your MK2 video this is missing and i did not got into it compared to this video. The journey between the stages is also a nice idea. Keep going this way dude.
I had a second game I loved ... WWF The arcade game. You hate it or you love it. That would be nice to get a same vid from this game as you did for MK1 ;)
Have a nice day sir.
Thanks DaStreamer! I'm sorry that I took so long to get to your comment, there are so many! I'm glad you enjoyed this. That feeling you describe about fantasizing in your mind that the original game was in 3d is one of the reasons I started this series. Because my brain remembers them that way too. BTW I made the MK2 vid a year before the MK1 vid. Oops. That's why the level transitions etc aren't there!
@@Bitplex No problem. Iam happy lived the game in your mind like i did too. Keep going ... An idea of me: have a look to this game:
ruclips.net/video/hw1M0BQE8nA/видео.html
Its diffrent compared to the other wrestling games at this time because its total arcade action. The special here the items you hit out of the opponents on hit and the mega combos and weapons that appear. You can play up to 4 fighters in the ring. I loved this game. The game made also the jump to the playstation and other consoles. I think you can do so mutch like 360 degrees camera view around the ring while The Undertaker show his highfling uppercut to Racor Ramon and Doink The Clown give is Electronic Hand to Racor Ramon. Maybe you ad Yokozuna slaming out Shawn Michaels out of the ring like a rumble all at the same time with items appears all arround. Iam sure it would be a big challenge for you to combine new 3D effects out of the game with creative ideas to make the old game feeling like a 3D wrestling up to date on this way. But would be looking realy nice :)
Stunishing , great work , i wish ed boon would utilized your work of art for future bonus game . Amazing! Work!

@@srcheddar i know miss that
It's just you.
There's an aura to the older version of The Pit imo, and to a lesser extent, Goro's Lair.
Oh WOW... How did you do that? I'm very impressed by the results...
Thanks! It took me a long time to figure out the technique. But I basically took screenshots of the original game, then I cut all the object out, and cut them up into little bits, like arms and legs, torso etc. Then i traced them into a 3d program, then I slowly extruded all of the relevant pixels to created a full 3d mesh of the original sprite. I match the pose to the original games pose, and adjust the pixels until it lines up very closely. Then I did the same thing with all of the scenary. Basically turned it all into a 3d landscape by pulling the 3d sprites into a 3d conformity. It took me 3 months to complete this vid, so you can see how ambitious it was. Paid off though!
WOW. Thank you for enlightening me about the process. Really appreciate it as a novice game developer! 😁👍
