Hats off to the animators. They really deserve all the money after making a show with some of the most beautiful and creative animation I’ve ever seen.
@@brothaonanadventure3573 Motion capture is just another tool used by animators. Most animated movies and video games all use motion capture but that doesn’t make the animators and artists using it any less talented. They’re still painting onto the models, creating the lighting effects, textures, and so on, and making sure the models look in line with the style of the movie/show/video game instead of just a shapeless group of polygons. It’s a tool in the same way the rotoscope was. And THAT was used in basically every early animated Disney movie you’ve ever seen. @@brothaonanadventure3573 Does motion capture give you the vibrant color and beautifully crafted models you see here? That bridge, those lights, were those motion capture?
This fight was fucking incredible with its symbolism. Ekko taking out the clock and swaying it back and forth showing how desperately he wants to go back in time as well as foreshadowing Ekkos powers. Him learning from their games as kids the same way he learns from the mistakes and rewinds time back in his lore. This fight was an absolutely amazing way to give League Fans that know Ekkos lore a way to show off his powers without him actually having them. And my favorite was the broken clock that stops ticking at the end of the episode, not symbolizing Ekkos death like some might think but symbolizing the inability to go back and save Jinx from what she will become. Absolutely brilliant.
I think rather than the fact that he couldn't, Ekko himself specifically smashing the pocket watch was showing he had truly given up on her. I think prior to that he just didn't want to hold onto hope that she could be saved. But in that moment, he knew she couldn't. Since she was trying to kill a friend. Also side note, when Ekko strikes her with his weapon, the strikes match up to the song. Which I guess may mean as the fight is occurring, Jinx's mind is creating that music and that whole scene
@@warmmilk9480 Dude good catch on the ticking. I actually think it’s kinda a symbol of Jinx herself as well. The ticking comes from this bomb inside of her that will blow up to turn her from Powder into Jinx. This is further backed up by the literal bomb she uses that ultimately leads to her major injuries that have to get fixed by Singed.
@@143Oshawott Yeah, well regarding that bomb... I think the logic behind it is equally sad. It's kind of hard to prove why exactly she did it, but I mean... this scene shows well enough that Jinx saw this as playing one last time with Ekko, whereas Ekko saw it as having to fight (and likely kill) someone he used to call a friend. My theory is basically... Jinx wanted to kill herself and Ekko after that, because she got to be Powder one last time. I don't think the grenade was malicious (hence no change in her expression when she pulled the pin), I think she didn't want to die alone, but wanted to die as Powder, and in one final pure moment.
This scene was just insane. Hype song, explosive animation, & no dialogue. And YET, by the end of it, you get a gut punch of emotion that'll nearly bring the tears. Now THAT is how you know the story & characters are both so well developed.
This last look Powder (I would say she isn't Jinx at that point) gives Ekko is too much for me. She knows she will die and that she will kill him. She remembers when they were children. And she feels sorry, maybe even pity. So well done. I would call if perfection.
Yeah, she feels too much anger towards her sister, being with cait and all. So ekko is the one. Powder wanted to die with him there. But where was the hug 😢

This is so sad they were best friends and now look at what the world turned them into. I love the sad exchange of smiles they exchange. If they are gonna lose at least it’s to their best friend
Notice how Jinx's eyes turned gray at the end? I think Powder came through at that point, and she gave Ekko a sad smile. I think Powder knew Ekko would survive that blast from the bomb. At that point, she just wanted to off herself.
Jinx definitely hits a little different after this entire series. Used to view her as high energy, punk rock...but now she's just totally mental. You just pity her.
This is absolutely one of the best scenes in this masterpiece of a show. Everytime I rewatch parts of Arcane, I spot something new and it's very rich in details
I am amazed by Jinx face action in this scene when she saw the clock. She looked lie she did not know that Ekko was Ekko untill he took out the watch. First she was surpised looked at him watch and then at him again, her expresion changed from supprised to astonished then, for a second she was happy she met old friend..... now sudden realisation..... it is not happy meeting, they are on different sided ... shie is shaking hear head with ironic smile to shake off the happy face - reuninon shoudl be happy event but, in this situation it is sad - soon one of them will kill the other - no time for chating about old times. After that, face uplift in to smile. In my oppinion her foughts at that moment are " lets have a fun like in old time for the last time", music start playing she is in the game in full enjoying it without caring for what will be after or was before ... stand to the stance in serious manner .. as now it is not paintball and no childchood game anymore ...... this is how much i took from litearally 24sec of this master piece and after that is a treat to LOL players but for me it was good artistic way to show a fight between 2 ppl who where once a childchood friends. But most importantly, don’t ever forget to pace and rest your body and mind. As Heimerdinger said, “those that shined the brightest, burnt the quickest.”
Many people talk about how Vi and Jinx have suffered these years, but why doesn't anyone talk about Ekko? Just imagine... Ekko didn't stop himself just because he saw his old friend in Jinx, it was because he was able to see just how sick she is through that context. He couldn't continue beating on a person who was already in so much pain.
As freakin awesome as this whole sequence is, sonically and visually, I think it perfectly encapsulates the greatest flaw of the show- it’s too fast paced to include them playing this game in the first chapter, so we get the flashback as SOON as it matters and we’re just like, “oh ok these two never even said a word to each other on screen as kids but I guess they played this game back then”.
