- Curtin University surprised and delighted its students and staff at lunchtime on campus with a grand performance - a rousing rendition of dozens of bagpipers and drummers, from five converging marching bands who appeared from behind various buildings dressed in casual clothes like students. The crowd was wowed by the impromptu appearance of these champion pipe bands from across Perth.

Fantastic drumming by the young man, and a great start by the lassie piping 👍
There is something inherently beautiful about the music created by bagpipes and drums.
This literally gives me chills... So many different people, different backgrounds, different ages, different stories, different looks, different etnicies and so on. All coming together for only one thing... Music! It reallt shows the fraternization of all those people together. I love it ❤ Humans are made to love each other, not to hate each other.
Put tears and a big smile on my face.
It is truly a awesome sight when people can come together and play a song and it alone draws a crowd of on lookers to marvel and appreciate music as a something wonderful.
My favourite flash mob bagpipe performance.
This is my jam song. I listen to this & I am ready to take on the world!!
❤ 🙏
Oh Australia I love you. I'm a native Texan and there is some special quality of life shared between Aussies and Texans.
What a performance from all but especially Laura McMillan on the solo pipes, talented and very pretty. It would appear she has it all, you go girl.
She is a grade 1 piper from Inverary and District Pipe Band. They have won the Piping Live Quartet competition from 2011 to 2015 and they are run by Stuart Liddell.
Shes my pipes teacher at my school
I love this tune and love playing it. When I play it as I'm practicing on the East River in NYC, everyone stops and listens. This flash mob did a great job playing it three times in perfection. Great job guys and girls
How could 38 people dislike this. It is one of the best flash mob renditions of Highland Cathedral that I have heard. It was amazing.
By the English
I bet the 38 are trump voters
Because they don't have taste for music.
Why be a twat?@@malcolmmckinlay2143
What a sad little person @@AnelOlivardiaS
Beautiful tune well played and would be really spectacular in uniform, well done
The song they played was beautiful. I love the pipes, it gave me chills.
It is Highland Cathedral.
@@soslothful Yes it is, and in my opinion one of the most powerfull compositions, even more so if one knows it's history.
@@rjvanloon4769 I'd be glad to hear the history. I know it was written by two Germans but this is all I have heard. I'm learning it on the penny whistle.
@@soslothful
Yes it was written by 2 Germans, as a tribute to the spirit of the Highlands after the Highland Games that were held in Germany, and as an act of admiration to the fact that people could again be friends despite their history.
Despite what many people think, it's pretty modern, as it was written in 1982. It's special because it so well expresses the Highland spirit, most people will mistake it for an older traditional Scottish song, so it shows the deep understanding people from different cultures can achieve.
There are lyrics too, though they are not well known.
Land of my fathers, we will always be
Faithful and loyal to our own country.
In times of danger we will set you free,
Lead you to glory and to victory.
Gone is the past, let us start anew,
Let this hope of peace always remain
Spirit of Scotia, be strong and true,
Then your children will smile again.
Hail, Caledonia to our ancient pray’r,
In this Highland Cathedral, let our standards bear,
Joining together with on dream to share,
God bless the people of this land so fair.
Rise, Caledonia let your voices ring
In this Highland Cathedral of our God and King,
Who joy and liberty to all will bring,
Come, let your heart with love and courage sing.
@@rjvanloon4769 Thanks, this is good information. I played on the GHB a lot when I was in a local band, Now I'm learning it on the penny whistle. I play twice through, then the A part twice.

What a great idea and a great sound
As an Englishman, the sound of pipes and drums stirs even me, it's such a shame there is so much animosity between Scotland and England
MMOJUNKIE is there?! I found the Scottish people really lovely and polite whenever I've been to Edinburgh, and it's obvious I'm English by my accent.
The guy with the ice cream truck must be loving life
He sure was Thomas :) Front row seats + ice-cream = possibly the most entertaining lunch time ever! - Brooklyn
Brilliant
Tune is called Highland Cathedral
Wow!
I loved seeing a girl bagpipes at the start of this video!
Superb
the pipes.
makes yer blood fizz !
Bit of a bigger crowd than when my band did this at the local shopping center November 2013 :)
Great come together and good response. But should have played one more song when they had a crowd. like, "Scotch on the rocks", they could have done a great exit with that.
I've never actually seen a woman playing the pipes before. It's a welcome sight!
Xion Memoria are you Scottish then? No..... ?
Classic Highland Cathedral
wery nice
Cool verry nice:)
What is the name of that tune help plz?
Damn I never knew my country has bagpipes. Australia
finally a well played highland cathedral
Best flash mob ever
Respect! To play the pipes you need lungs or iron. Not easy as WatchMojo said.
Where are there kilts and sporans
WHAT IS THAT TUNE? I find it very deeply affecting and I have no idea what it is or how it came about.
The tune is Highland Cathedral and was written by a couple Germans I believe. This is one of the best renditions I have heard.
But I wanted more!! :-(!!
Love the music, anyone know what its called?
Highland Cathedral
❤️ 🏴 ❤️

Mr Johnny john Jimmyjefferyjr highland cathedral
No seconds
One tune ? Come on, play a full set
Was this for Gay Pride Month or does the courtyard always have a rainbow flag on it?
Hi +tealescope, the hexagon was painted for PrideFest. Curtin Stadium is also lit up with rainbow coloured lights during this time. - Emily
Scots resisting the British push, 1300 colorized:

Ah yes, Highland Cathedral written by two Germans. And you thought it was from Scotland.
Irish Pride :) Parris Clan
Irish pride:) O’Brien clan
Is that a gay park square?
Not bad at all, but nobody does it like the Scots.
Hey, how did they gather so many stray cats in one place and get them to all to scream together like that? 🤔
Everyone, please watch my tiny nature videos. There is no talking in them. Shhh!
