It's amusing to me, for some reason, the difference in scale of tools and techniques from violin to bass. Shaping the feet of a bass bridge seems alot more straightforward than on a violin bridge. Beautiful work, thanks for posting!
I can't decide whether watching these videos is immensely relaxing or very stressful. I can only imagine myself attempting something like this only to be soon met with an "Erm... oh well... nevermind... we'll press on"
I really appreciate your videos, but is he coloring with artist oil paints? It seems so from the footage and I always thought it was some coloring of shellac or French finish used for string instruments. Please improve my knowledge :)
Thank you Jonathan! We generally use spirit varnish to work on the neck, for the first stage of colour for the neck we use some coloured varnish and build it up slowly.
