Remember if you're trying to learn, these tips won't make you a "master" right away, it takes patience and dedication to get to your goal, and that's all in you, not in any tips or tricks. These tips will help you, but you have to put in most of the work.
Thanks for the feature!!! I've never liked the "I can't draw" and "my art sucks" comments I kept getting from aspiring artists seeking advice. Getting better is often as simple as forging ahead with a willingness to improve, even if it involves banging your head against the wall at times. Improvement comes SO fast, we just don't see it that way in the moment.
I would consider myself relatively new to art and I am extremely grateful for art content creators like you! These tips help me alot and motive me alot! :) you inspire me to keep on drawing, thank you!
I agree that sketchbooks are amazing to have! Just be careful though since one time I had a sleepover with my friend and while I was sleeping she was looking through my entire sketchbook which I really didn't appreciate. Just a reminder to be aware of peoples space! Btw ty so much Sam I began trusting in my art and myself because of you
Honestly, I was having a real art crisis until now because I wanna go to a school for art but I’m afraid I’m not good enough. I’ve been telling myself subconsciously „everything is so difficult and I feel like I’m not improving at all!“ but watching your videos is giving me the strength to stop talking shit and trying to calm down. I love your videos man
Your Videos are always inspiring me to create more drawings... And also i learned not to get obsessed with our Instagram followers and likes... Just draw more and more everyday.... Thank you sam 💗✨
LOVE that sketchbook tip! I've seen someone mention it somewhere. Some beginner artists fear creating something they don't like in their sketchbook, so the pressure makes them lose motivation. But they shouldn't really be that scared, it's THEIR sketchbook. Who cares if all the pages are total abominations. As long as they enjoyed doing it, I think that's all that matters
9:09 My cousin was sitting at a party (i was next to her) the tablecloth was made out of some kind of crappy paper, and she found a simple pen in her bag. A few hour later when we where about to head home, a frickin masterpeice of a dragon was at the table. She just used what she had. She is a really great Artist
04:25 I was sketching the same winter scene multiple times, and it's actually mind-blowing how many things can be improved with just a few sketches. In the same time, I got many new ideas for other projects. Drawing the same thing many times is genuinely very helpful.
I just wanna thank you for the things you teach everybody I’ve been drawing for about eight years but still haven’t even learned basic anatomy yet or rendering because I never thought I needed to focus on those for some reason I thought i would just be able to draw it? But anyway you’re videos have helped me so much and actually got me into digital art and I can’t thank you enough I’m doing better at art now cause of you and I don’t get art block as much anymore thank you
I Used to think that I could never draw anything because I always found it so hard to learn from tutorials , books ,people etc. it took me till only a few months ago to be like “so what” And I just decided not to really care about how bad it was and lately I’ve improved tenfold, thank you so much sam!
While wandering around barnes & noble when I found this book called “Sketching from the Imagination: Characters” where it’s literally a book filled with characters from a wide variety of artists and different art styles, just thought I’d share in case anybody wanted to check it out.
Sam, you inspired me to start digital art, you break down the techniques so that many other people can understand. I love that he talks to the camera as if he is actually talking to us. Each of your videos always brings me joy! (Sorry if the grammar is bad this is not first language)
I'm glad artists like you are sharing their tips and experiences! Tbh it helps alot getting to know famous artists' point of view and perspective into the field of art.
I want to join the thanks you're getting in the comments and thank you for your fun, lighthearted videos. I'm by no means an art baby, but ever since I finished art school a few years back and stopped carrying a sketchbook (or going outside) I've been feeling that I lost a certain experimental quality I had. and that's not to say i stopped drawing or developing as an artist, I draw a LOT if not even more than during school, but it's like I developed this routine that is comfortable and efficient that I always follow. after binging *a lot* of your videos I've been feeling an itch to try things i'm not used to again just for fun, and I'm thankful for that!
I have 5 sketchbooks. 1 is watercolor studies, 1 oil studies, 1 mixed media experimentation, 1 is my carry round (doubles as my journal and planner but also filled with ideas and doodles for social media & projects, beat to heck but small enough to fit in any bag as well as comfy in my hand) and finally 1 on my nightstand for those strokes of ideas as I'm falling asleep. Sounds silly but I found making space and a place for my art gives my mind more freedom and permission to make.
all of your art and these tips help me realize how much I could I improve and not to give up on my art journey. I feel more confident in what I do now thanks to you, Sam.
One artbook I have and love is the concept art for Street Fighter's characters- Mostly models and concepts from V, but with some other relevant content and plenty of thoughts on the design choices they were going for, visually and mechanically. I should look around for a Spiderverse art book too!
Something I love about your art is the lighting and shading. And even just by studying your art, I feel like I've improved so much from you. I just want to say thank you ❤
I used to be a furry artist only because I couldn't draw people. I now draw people more than animals and it's a really fun challenge to draw my furry characters as people! I recently redrew one of my first human characters and the difference is insane.
Thank you for all the art advice that you show in this video, artists that has more experience and also halping beginner artists to draw at our hearts desire but also to improve also really helps me and others too. It helps me keep moving forward, thanks!
Another thing about art books is that u actually get to focus on copying a particular art style w the little amount of selection or pages u have like when I first received my first ever art book I thought about how cool they drew the car and I implemented their way of drawing it till now
thank you for posting this. I've been feeling very demotivated and uninspired lately. I feel like I'm all out of creative juices. But this gave me hope again. I'll pick up the pen to draw today. Your videos always help me so much!!
i dont know how but every time i finish one of sam's videos i always feel the overwhelming urge to draw something right after, seeing how cool his art looks makes me wanna improve my own! ty sam :)
Today i found an drawing of mine that i did 2 years ago and i said "wow, i really improved", i've been very negative about my drawings lately, but today i realized that i were doing i really great work
I just wanna say that as someone who always gets discouraged easily with my drawing growth; after watching your vids I always feel so motivated to get back into drawing 💛 something about your videos really spark hope and fun with the whole drawing process of things. So thank you 💛
I struggle badly with sketchbooks, because even though I main digital I want to be able to do sketchbooks but I never really like what I make in them + often struggle to start, In 9 years I've filled 1 sketchbook ;;
at the end part. i gonno look at you awkwardly as i thinking bout my life choice of not go now. And thank you for the past few years. you have inspire and have help me a lot to keep drawing and improving.
3:46 I think that this is such an amazing tip, and the fact that yesterday I redrew a drawing from April 2022 and I had developed so much made me realize how trash at art i was then- But seriously, if you don't know what to draw and you have art block, find some of your old pieces and redraw them, if that doesn't help, i don't know what will
it doesn't have to be a sketch book, a notebook would just as good. I used to always have dozens of notebooks where I just draw during or between classes, and my drawing improved overtime
youve inspired me to start on portraits agaain, i thought they were fun for a long time but gave up, since i thought they were terrible. now, with soem of your tips, theyre one of my favorite things to draw.
Sam, I'm a beginner artist and sometimes I think I can't draw/paint like all those other artists but today you gave me the encouragement I was missing, thank you :)
Ive always been scared to draw even with the supplies because I always feel like I will ruin it. But thanks to this video, Im starting to gain back some of the confidence to just put something on the paper, because it can only get better :)
Thanks Sam for choosing the right art tips! I’m still a beginner and I’m On my way to find my art style. These kinds of videos really help me out :)) ❤
Anyone who says "Your art is good because of the expensive art supplies" 1 it's false, and 2 that's really hurtful to say, I've dedicated almost 11-12 Years to art and to get better, so to say it's because of the supplies is just belittling how much time I sacrificed to get good at drawing
It’s similar to saying “you’re so gifted/talented!” It directly minimizes the hard work someone puts in by implying it’s natural or wasn’t hard for you to make that piece
Ok- so through this I had an epiphany when I saw the Rapunzel sketch, hair is less complicated to draw if I use light sketch marks in a way & don’t try to make a forehead line or something. The amount of struggling I’ve come through cuz hair was hard to get right cuz I couldn’t remember how I drew before & lost all my art….now it’s time to look at more hands & other stuff & continue to try to find a style that works with me & remember what I lost after 6-7 years of not drawing or doing art. Edit: was doodling cuz I was bored I like to multitask, i doodled with the way I mentioned & it looks exactly how i was trying to get it for so long, since I lost a lot of the techniques I used to use & got one of the many back after a bunch of migraines & this video making me remember some cuz it was similar. So I’m happy. 😃
Some people said that you shouldn't redraw your old work, because that didn't help you. But I watched César Córdova video or two videos where he mention why you must redraw your work. He said that you learned on your mistake redrawing your work and it's true. The was a drawing that when I finished I didn't like it and I tried redraw it using tips and it was better with tips and I learned on my mistake. I recently redrawed my silver seel bottle opener from almost ten years and I was surprised how much progress I made. And I will try to redraw most of my old drawings.
I think I’ve found a routine to follow that works for me. What I’ll do is aim to copy a photo, do a full body drawing, and draw one thing from imagination. I’ll often merge them (copy a full body photo, etc.) but it gets a couple drawings on the page and really takes the pressure off

"Can't get worse, you can only get better" ok thats gonna stick with me for a while! New year, new me, I am picking up a pencil seriously for the first time at 28. Thanks for the work you do man, you definitely inspired me to take the plunge.
The last tip reminds me of when I went to a watercolor class thing, and the teacher said that her rule was if she heard you talking bad about your art, she would make you say something bad about the person sitting next to you. And like, the whole point of that was, why would you say something bad about the other person's art? They're doing their best and having fun. So you should extend that same mindset to yourself. This is very true
Exactly!
I love this comment, this is very true and it's also the best advice for baby artists
3:46 I really like the idea with the redraw that she has also improved her art skills since the first piece, with the cute cats on the wall!
That's his 💀
@@arandomguy9669 they mean that the character in the picture also has "improved" her art skills.
@@froggyjulia 😭 Yea I misunderstood, now it makes sens ye. My bad.
@@arandomguy9669honestly I thought the same as you.

starting a new year off strong, sam isn’t hating every art help tiktok!
1:42 I love how he casually talks while a three headed gigachad comes into view 😂💀

id love to say that as soon as i started playing your video, my cat came beside me and started watching. i think he wants to become an artist as well

I Used to think that I could never draw anything because I always found it so hard to learn from tutorials , books ,people etc. it took me till only a few months ago to be like “so what”

Bro Sam has great art advice, he is funny, he doesn’t hate keep, AND he interacts with his comments?!?! In his own words “this man is a god!”
sam i really appreciate how much time you take on your videos while being hilarious and also informative. keep up the excellent work! 😂😂🥰
Sam fr knows what he’s doing.. let’s take a moment to appreciate the fact that Sam made a video abt GOOD tips so we can learn 😌

My favorite quote. Practice makes better not perfect. That goes for all artists it takes time but it’s worth it.

I just bought an iPad Pro to do digital art like you .I used to not like digital art but because of your style and painting I started digital painting
I feel like Sam's videos get created purely out of intrusive thoughts. They are insanely helpful, thanks!
Honestly these tips really help me get back into the grove of drawing again

I just wanna say that as someone who always gets discouraged easily with my drawing growth; after watching your vids I always feel so motivated to get back into drawing 💛 something about your videos really spark hope and fun with the whole drawing process of things. So thank you 💛
you know its a good day when Sam uploads
The one that really helped me with knowing the basics...is drawing the same thing again and again. Starting with headshots!!💯
I struggle badly with sketchbooks, because even though I main digital I want to be able to do sketchbooks but I never really like what I make in them + often struggle to start, In 9 years I've filled 1 sketchbook ;;
The last one has got to be one of my favorite art tips😂😂😂
Such encouragable content. The way sam speaks makes me feel motivated and like everythings gonna be fine. Trust the process and don't worry too much.
Artbooks of video games are great inspiration too! They often have atmospheres and characters we don’t see in movies
at the end part. i gonno look at you awkwardly as i thinking bout my life choice of not go now. And
thank you for the past few years. you have inspire and have help me a lot to keep drawing and improving.

Sam, I'm a beginner artist and sometimes I think I can't draw/paint like all those other artists but today you gave me the encouragement I was missing, thank you :)
Thank you so much Sam for inspiring me to pick up my pencil again ❤️
Ive always been scared to draw even with the supplies because I always feel like I will ruin it. But thanks to this video, Im starting to gain back some of the confidence to just put something on the paper, because it can only get better :)
you should make a video on gestures, I really liked the ones you showed at 5:30 (:
Thanks Sam for choosing the right art tips! I’m still a beginner and I’m On my way to find my art style. These kinds of videos really help me out :)) ❤
I'm obsessed with avatar way of the water, I especially love the tulkun
Sam always finds a way to make me motivated to drawwww! Love watching his video. Inspiring! ✌🏾😁

3:50 my man you really improved in how to draw cats 🤣
thanks sam! these tips that you give really help me with my art!!❤❤

I just get so excited when you post I just have to watch you asap
Sam is literally the only reason I open RUclips
The last one is my favorite. Don't ever put yourselves down, you guys!
😂 I had to watch 11:00 on repeat. The dramatic music got me every time
Sam was talking about art books, crazy that he has his own now
I think I’ve found a routine to follow that works for me. What I’ll do is aim to copy a photo, do a full body drawing, and draw one thing from imagination. I’ll often merge them (copy a full body photo, etc.) but it gets a couple drawings on the page and really takes the pressure off
This is a cool exercise!!
Here are some of the things watching sam has reminded me I can work on:
-colour studies
-different rendering techniques
-shadow and light
-gestures and lines of action/weight
-forms
-line quality
-anatomy
-drawing what I see
Etc etc
Your comment was very inspiring to make a list of potential exercises! Thanks :)
you are the one person i watch that i actually take tips from thank you
Another great art book for anyone needing more to check out was the horizon zero dawn art book, it's taught me a lot on how to make good background compositions and some good tips on how to make more wider landscape shots than zoomed in shots where you can't see anything that's you want in the background
5:52 i know this background music ! It’s from Barbie 12 princesses ! I love that movie !!!
i did the "redraw your old art" and it really did make me realize i have improved! there is so much more emotion, expression, and feeling. thank you for these wonderful art tips (especially the last one)
i love the endings of your videos Sam
your videos literally make my day
and also dude, your voice is so good, idk how to describe it, but its that kinda voice for which you might get a some job of doing voice over stuff😂😂
You don't have to throw away your airbrush, just use it less. I usually use the airbrush for blush.
Thank god Sam finally made a video where he kept his sanity in tact
The editing here is CRAZY🔥🔥🔥
I have taken a break from drawing and now I am ready to start again 😌
Can't wait to add Sam Does Arts to my artbook collection!
"Can't get worse, you can only get better" ok thats gonna stick with me for a while! New year, new me, I am picking up a pencil seriously for the first time at 28. Thanks for the work you do man, you definitely inspired me to take the plunge.
This video helped me think of a new way to draw my current idea that I got stuck on
(woah I'm so early) tysm for making all of this amazing content for us art babies
I will never get tired of watching your videos, I love you ❤
