Japan's heavy cruisers and destroyers were a nasty handful. The modern ones were heavily influenced by a master naval architect Yuzuru Hiraga who built Yubari in 1923 as a test bed. All of the follow on ships were influenced by these design features. Atago and her sisters Maya Takao and Chokai (the Takao class) were some of the best of the breed. They bristled with 10 8" guns in dual turrets, 5" secondaries, scores of 25mm and the deadly long lance torpedoes. They were very handsome and capable ships and were all quite busy during the Pacific war.

I don't understand that Mikrokosmos guy who built your model. He makes his money off commissions, but he doesn't have a presence on youtube where he could get more exposure. He does good work.

I already tried the masking fluid, Mr. hobby masking sol. but I was very disappointed by the product and applying it isn't easy as it seems. Applying masking tape on the deck looks horrifying but it isn't that hard, just boring.
@@EbroinSong well, mr hobby masking sol is..... famously bad, i know a lot of people really disapoint with it, but they praise Humbrol masking fluid, i think i will give it a try when i make my Tenryu .
Awww man! I am working on the 1:144 Fletcher and have been trying to figure out how I am going to do the none skid on the deck. The thought crossed my mind to just tape it but seeing you doing this here looks so painful and I know it really is the only way I am going to get this done. Thanks for making me cringe at the idea but awesome job bud! I do have to say I am not a fan of how the super structures look very nasty to me, paint helps but still not the best result in my opinion.
Yea the Fletcher has been a real joy to build. I am impressed with the quality of the parts and how well everything fits together. If you do build one get the premium one with all the PE, it is a great value that way and I wish I had done more research but I ended up buying the PE kit separate and was a larger investment.
@@tomdevlindds You can burn the metal part of the needle with a lighter, the heat and flame will open the needle again. be careful though, the superglue is extremely flammable.
@@EbroinSong i think IPP colors r not sold in Italy, now i see IPP is lacquer paint, maybe IPP is like TAmiya lacquer colors, i think. you did a awesome model.

I think all PVA glues are same, at least I haven't seen any different one.

Thank you, I buy woods beams from art store and cut & glue (PVA) them on a wooden board.

붙을 땐 잘 붙는데 접착력 자체는 세진 않더군요.
저도 순접으로 해보다가 배에는 백화 오고 실은 꼬부라져서 뭘 써야 하나 고민하다 써봤는데 꽤 괜찮네요.

Thank you Kevin, Masking the deck wasn't very painful, it just took lot of time. Revell's 1/144 Fletcher kit seems very nice, I wish I have one.

I recommend you to use the clear coat. In my experience, the excess wash got stuck in the un-coated surface and didn't come out .

What is used for the ropes/strings across the masts
Tan color strings are stretched sprues, black one is Lycra riggings from Infini Models.
