OMG... Been trying to get this 5th grader to fix his frontal lisp ALL year. I had tried EVERYTHING (e.g., "explosive t", straws, modeling, discrimination, etc.) I told him today, we were going to look online at other SLPs and see how they teach their students how to fix their /s/. We watched a few other videos of SLPs giving modeling and advice. Then I saw Pam's video and told him I fondly remember seeing her speak at a conference while at my university learning to become a speech therapist. So we watched half this video and then stopped, and then he tried his /s/, and he DID it! CORRECT! And he said, "I just did what she told me to. I can't say it fast yet, but I get it now." Either I'm an idiot SLP, or the spirit of Pam Marshala visited me and my student and just made it click. Bless this woman for devoting her life to helping students and SLPs.

I am also 26 and I have a lisp as well. I am sure it can be corrected with practice.
I wish I had had this when I was younger, I'm 26 and just now realized I have this lateral lisp after being compared to Sid the Sloth.
