  • Bose released a successor to one of our all time favorite headphones; the QuietComfort 35! We’re excited about the QuietComfort 45, but also a bit confused. It's not the successor to Bose’s flagship, the NCH 700. So what is it?

    Fantastic review! 😍 I really do appreciate testing mic and ANC, a lot of reviews do not include it. I'm wondering between Bose 700 and Bang & Olufsen HX, what would you choose? I'm amazed with the phone calls quality of 700, what do you think about B&O? Many thanks, watching your videos is a pure pleasure 💪🏻

    What I noticed is that the QC45 build up more of a pressure feeling with the ANC on, whereas the 700 were more pleasant in this respect, especially when you don't play music. This is even more critical because as you mentioned the ANC modes on the QC45 can't be completely turned off.

    • @raymondtan892

    Excellent video! I chose the QC 45 over the NCH 700: more affordable, simpler, and physical buttons! I didn't want gradations in noise cancellation - I want it to be either 100% or nothing. You can't go wrong with either, though. My only regret is that I couldn't get the smoky/white/silver, as they never seem to be in stock. So, I just settled for basic black - but am quite happy with my purchase. Great video, gentlemen!

    On the ANC testing, doesn't the QC45 shut out a LOT MORE flight noise than the NC700 in your testing? I agree on everything else but the AB testing seemed, to my ears, to show that if your sole criterion is low-freq powerful noise reduction the QC45 wins.

    I use headphones eight hours a day for my job and have been using the Sony WH-1000xm4s. Over time, the drivers pressed on my ears, giving me daily ear fatigue. I recently picked up the QC45s for the sole purpose of cutting back on ear fatigue. They are a game changer! There is so much more space in the ear cups in the Bose than the Sonys. so I can keep them on much longer. The ANC is an added bonus as I feel that it's better at cancelling noise than Sony. My only gripe is that music on the Sonys is much punchier.

    • @Caesar-ww3yp
      @Caesar-ww3yp 2 года назад

      I have the same problems with most headphones where my ears touch the earcups inside, it's annoying. So your ears don't touch the earcups on the qc45? Lot of air and room for your ears to breathe? I'm thinking of returning the bose 700s for the added comfort of the qc45

    I should've seen this video before I went and bought the QC45s. My 5 year old QC35-IIs developed a crackling, hissing fit off-late and I wanted a good replacement. My wife and I shared audio while watching movies together using the QC35s. It's a shame these 45s are not backwards compatible. Apple is being apple and only allows BT5 audio sharing on apple audio devices. At the 300$ price point, I expect more as a consumer, I feel shortchanged. Or may be i shouldn't?

    • @cfarumust
      @cfarumust 2 года назад +2

      Some additional points for anyone interested - (Comparing with the 35s)
      1. ANC is better but crackles more in loud environments
      2. Build is more plastic
      3. ANC can't be turned off completely - Only quiet mode or passthrough mode
      4. The Mic is a downgrade
      5. Sound is richer
      6. Earcups are bigger, but I've small ears so it doesn't help
      7. No NFC pairing
      8. Only available in black and white
      9. Can only use the Bose Music App
      10. Has completely replaced the 35s on the Bose store - So if you want a new pair of 35s, amazon is the only option.
      Bose won't repair your old 35s and will only offer a discount on the 45s. But I feel like I'm losing more than I'm gaining.

    I really don't understand why Bose decided to boost the highs so much on the 45's. They should have just left the sound the same as the 35's :(. If anything, they could have just boosted the bass instead as that's what most people like. Anyway, they literally are the same drivers so IMO they should have just left them the same. All the reviewers have mentioned the highs being very pronounced and bright and many times harsh. I'm the kind of guy that prefers a warmer sound and I'm very sensitive to bright cans. It just sounds too harsh and causes discomfort. It's the only thing keeping me from buying these as my old QC35's (I'm wearing em right now) have the problem of randomly turning on and draining the battery even with the switch set to off. It doesn't happen every single day or all the time, but still, the problem's there and I've been waiting for Bose to come out with a successor so I can replace these cans. I'll hold off on it for now until I can either hear them in a store and see if I like the sound or if enough people complain and they bring the sound back to the old signature via a firmware update. It's about time Bose just puts a user adjustable EQ across the board. Everyone else is doing it, and they've already put it on the 700's so it's not like they don't already have the programming done. Could be a super quick patch. I can honestly wait until the XM5's come out. Edit: Idk how you guys think the 700's have better ANC, the 45's sounded slightly quieter to me in the tests you provided, specially on the airplane. That also coincides with Sounguys's review on their website, where they actually measure the level of attenuation and the QC45's edge out the 700's (as well as the XM4's).

    • @masoyoes
      @masoyoes 2 года назад +1

      Most reviewers have said that the 700s do better at dealing with bassy ambient sounds such as engines or ACs and such, but most others do a better job with higher end noise. I don't know if it really shows in this test specifically, but there have been a few have watched where I did notice that the 700s sounded better at dealing with an engine, but the 45s were better at dealing with chatter/ clanking noises

    However, I am seeing a little inconsistency in your videos, because in the comparison between the bose nc 700 and the sony xm4 you said that the sony have a much higher audio quality, while in the comparison between the qc45 and the sony you said that they are of much higher than the qc 45, however in the comparison between the qc 45 and the bose 700 you say that the quality is similar and sometimes better in the bose 700

      Yeah, I noticed that too. The biggest thing is that the Sony's aren't meant to be balanced. They have a high emphasis on the bass which you can take away through the app, and this will sound like better quality for most people, but most reviewers and audiophiles agree that the Bose 700s are better/more true to what the artist made. However you can also tinker with the EQ in the Bose app. Basically, both are really good, but if you like bass, go for the Sony's, and if you want something that is very true to what the artist made, go for the Bose. The quality in both is very similar, but the EQ is tuned differently. As far as the noise canceling goes, the Bose and Sonys are both really good, but apparently the Sony's can sound kind of funny and have a white noise sound when active noise cancelling is on

    IMO the 700 is better than the QC45 in every aspect. And the QC35 have better music sound than the QC45. It seems that the only up grade was the battery.

    I've mentioned this in a few spots, so I'm sorry for the repeat comment, but I've been on a bit of an OCD Over the Ear Headphones kick since maybe June. I've purchased 11 sets to enjoy what they do best in their respective categories. Some I use just for the gym, so those are either sweat resistant or, I just care about the cans a little less, so I'm not terribly upset if they don't last forever since I'm going to sweat in them (looking at you Beats Studio 3 and JBL LIVE 660).
    Some I use for heavy bass music, some for hard rock/metal and so on. It's been a fun little journey to say the least.
    Now, fast forward to a few days ago. I finally broke down and added the Bose QC45 to my arsenal. I only delayed getting them because all reviews said they don't have great sound quality. Well, I beg to differ. I'm sitting here baffled by how much I love the sound of these after simply bumping the EQ to +8, +2, +6. I haven't played with the EQ anymore than that, so they might be tuned even better, who knows?
    But what this tells me is, sound is very personal. The more I watch reviews and test my 11 cans out, the more I see that different people like different sounds and that's GREAT. Perhaps it's that I'm old, I'm 47 so maybe I don't hear certain things anymore or I hear it differently. But, the sound on these Bose QC45 sounds so full to me. The bass hits to where you can definitely bang your head a bit, but without drowning anything else out. Actually, I feel like I hear mids and highs so well in these compared to some of my other headsets. They are simply great!
    Hearing that some people like the Beats Studio Pros more certainly peaks my interest. Also, Sony X5s will need to be checked out, but I've stayed away because I don't love touch controls. And now, I'm hearing Bose QC45 Elite or Deluxe or whatever they are calling them will be on the horizon.
    Bottom line is, this is a good time to be into over the ear headphones. Great video as always.

    Bose created an inferior product which is the NC700 and then completely nerfed a great product, which is the QC line, so it won't get in the way of the the of an already trash one. Well done Bose.
