"Macbeth, you are an ambitious man.
You want to be great, but
are you willing to be wicked?
The path to power is full of crimes,
those who take this path with doubt
will only be plagued by guilt.
Come on! Hurry up!
I will boost your cold heart!
I will make you able
to complete the bold undertaking.
The witches promised you
the Scottish throne...
What are you waiting for?
Accept this gift...
Ascend the throne and reign!"

Is that actually Gwyneth in the sleepwalking scene? She sounds like a mezzo
She started as a mezzo. It was Nello Santi who told her she would sing with him again but only if she sang soprano
It's also a whole step lower
Is it a transposition or is the recording off in pitch? Because the latter would explain the difference in tone colour
@@nathandavis3002 The recording starts out around a semitone too flat. By the end of Act II, it is approaching a whole tone too flat. And then the sleepwalking scene is a whole tone too flat. I think it was a recording speed problem, and unfortunately it seems to have been a gradual one, so it's difficult to simply change the pitch with an extension (and thus hard for me to sit through this). But if you roughly change the pitches as I suggest, you'll hear Gwyneth Jones's actual voice.
