It's tough. He completely earned his contract and deserves it for all that he did in OKC. He does. But at this point in time, his game does not align with how much he is getting paid. His value is 20 million maximum. Two years ago, I had a feeling this could happen. Once he left OKC and joined the Rockets and then left there after a season I knew his career was going to spiral out of control if he didn't stay in one place and prove is worth. So while you are right that 5 years ago no one could have predicted this. If you were paying attention a few years back, you could see that his career was in jeopardy. This was a perfect storm. Russ had a terrible decline in the last year, meanwhile the Lakers traded away all of their depth, youth, size and defense. Everything that won them the championship, is gone. Lebron and AD are 2 years older. Nothing about this situation is good and I believe this may go down as one of the worst trades in NBA history given the circumstances and other opportunities available.
The other issue with Sexton is the need to pay Evan Mobley in a few years time. He is far too good to risk losing if the Cavs are forced to give him below value money due to Sexton's contract.

The only trade that makes sense for Russ would be to Utah for Mike Conley, Malik Beasley, Patrick Beverly, and Hassan Whiteside. Russ and D-Mitch would be the most explosive backcourt in the league. Meanwhile the lakers add proven veterans who could be stars in their roles.

Westbrick - I've been saying that since the day he joined the NBA. He's not a basketball player. Tennis, chess, athletics (no relay), gymnastics, etc. That's his discipline.
