Radahn was the only boss I ever needed a guide for. Even Malenia I learned how to handle Waterfowl well enough to win. I genuinely was unable to find out what he was doing due to the lack of visual clarity, and as a person I'm particularly susceptible to that. Being killed so quickly by something so hard to see is awful, I just couldn't learn it reasonably on my own

One thing Im personally salty abt the final boss is that doing st. Trina's questline is completely disposible for lore, it doesnt unlock any interactions at all with the final boss that could make the fight more narratively interesting even if it didnt make it easier. Your rewards are basically being able to summon thiollier to the fight (which sucks bc the second phase AOE's are definetly designed to kill spirit ashes and npc summons with their range and damage) and some mid sleep weapons that doesnt work on the final boss bc god forbid fromsoft actually decided to make the final boss weak to something. Heck how could would it be if radahn wasnt immune to sleep or at least eternal sleep and if you procced trina's eternal sleep on him miquella said a sad remark abt abandoning trina or something.

after beating radahn 5 times now in different new game cycles i have to say hes one of the most boring bosses ever created. hes literally just dodge 4-5-6 attacks and depdending on what combo it is hit once or twice. thats it theres nothing more to the fight. every single move has exactly one response from you unless you block. hes not interactable like the base game bosses and some of the dlc bosses where you can style on them with ai exploiting and animation understanding. like for example you know radagons final hammer hit in that three ground hits of his ultimate move, you can run around him and prepare a charged heavy when he lands. theres nothing like that for radahn since he tracks you 360 all the time(like most dlc bosses which is why i hate most of them). or malenias jump slash towrds you can be dodged and punished or jump over it and jump attacks. theres so many ways to exploit base game bosses and radahn just lacks that in full
Yes, I agree with the end boss, it feels totally underwhelming. Base game Miquella created expectations that this DLC didn't deliver at all. And while I get that Miquella isn't really a fighter on his own, I just hate that everything we got was him being Radahns backpack and that one grab animation. Also the end cutscene memory of Miquella was one of the most underwhelming things ever for a Souls game ending. And why doesn't he have anything to say when we kill him and basically destroyed everything he ever worked for? They could have done so many cool things like let us kill Radahn first and then fight Miquella in a sort of enraged phase or whatever, so many cool options better than this.

Your section on bossfights was great and really validated my feelings towards Elden Ring bosses. As much as I like Elden Ring, I've always prefered the bosses of previous Fromsoftware titles. Now I realise that it has got to do with the flow of the fight and the monotony of 5+ attack combos. I love difficult bosses but I think they need to be given more health rather than instant kill attacks.
You do realize that many bosses in previous FromSoft games also had 5+ hit attacks combos right? This type of boss design is not at all exclusive to Elden Ring. Gael, Ludwig, Lady Maria, and Nameless King all have 5+ hit combos too. Also not every boss in Elden Ring is like Radahn where you have to roll 10 attacks in a row to get one light attack in, and most of them don’t have “insta kill attacks” either. From my experience, even against the hardest Elden Ring bosses, you can usually survive two to three hits before needing to heal if you use proper damage negation buffs. In my opinion, Messmer, Bayle, Midra, Malenia, Rykard, and Mohg are easily on par with most bosses in previous FromSoft games. Messmer and Bayle in particular are up there with Gael, Isshin and Lady Maria for me as some of the best bosses in the FromSoft has ever made
It really just comes down to thw flow and how dynamic some fights can be, Radahn is like the pinnacle of my issues with some aspects of the ER boss fights where they force you into this very uninteresting onesided memory game, theres not much skill expression you can’t even try and trade hit’s consistently especially in his second phase because of his massive damage and how he can extend his already long combos

I am one of the people who actually liked the Radahn fight overall but even I have to agree with your criticisms and this is actually why I still prefer Malenia over him in terms of quality. Malenia was actually a very dynamic fight with several ways you could effectively deal with her attacks (you could roll, space, or interrupt them depending on which attack she did) and lots of variation in her combo extensions. Whereas with Radahn you basically just have to roll and run away from the same few attacks over and over again which does get old after a while.
