Edition needed is 'SIKORSKI Romeo and Juliet Ten Pieces For Piano Opus 75 ED.NR. 2121' I'm based in the UK and it took me a long time to source it. Think I purchased it from a German music website. This is No6 - The Montagues & Capulets. No8 - Mercutio - is even more challenging. Enjoy! Great playing. Thank you. Standard is post grade 8 -ABRSM.
Magnifique Monsieur Barton ! belle interprétation, vous n'êtes pas devant le piano... mais à l'intérieur vous ne faites plus QU'UN ! que la musique est belle !
Am using your video (and your sheet music) to learn this piece-if only the rest of the world were as passionate and generous as the world of musos-thank you so much!
Paul this is great. I bought the sheet music after listening to you. I am really a novice and I expect it will take a lot of time even to get to page 2 (of 8), and that's where the challenges really start. The overhead shots are REALLY appreciated, I hope you continue to use those in your tutorials. Thanks!
I see this has been out for years. I love it! But like many other comments we are surprised about the piano arrangement. Yet on UTube there are full orchestra, harp, quartet cello arrangements, which I recently found out.
You're just GRAT! I wish i could play piano like you some day. I'm actually studing music and, i must say your video inspired me a lot to keep going on, no matter how hard it is..
@PaulBartonPiano All excellent pointers. I shall try to interpret and do as you have instructed. It is very difficult to undo old methods, but I am determined not to do injury so that many years of playing can ensue! Thanks
3:38 how did right reach B2?, is it because the tune is low when I thought that right can only be used at 3-8 while left can be used at 0-5. Edit: I mean't 3:37
'"Montagues and Capulets" or "Dance of the Knights" is a 1930s piece of classical music written by Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev for his ballet Romeo and Juliet, also adapted by him for both orchestra and piano.'--Wikipedia.
@Acanthus Facilitaire Dienstverlening haha damn, I forgot all about this - I did manage to learn it, though it took some time! Don't think I'd remember how to play it over a decade later though 😅
@PaulBartonPiano thanks for replying so quickly ^^ I'll try that. And yes, this is definitally a 'must play piece'. It just sounds so powerful and cool. I can't wait till I am able to play it well! =D
Would greatly appreciate a tutorial with fingering suggestions! I'm struggling a little with this piece, and currently must do without an instructor. Personally my maximum span of comfort is apprx an octave.
I LOVE this piece, and I was so excited to find that I could download the sheet music--except that me.com is gone! Could you post another link? I would really appreciate it! Thank you!
I've been practicing this song for a short time and I find I'm having trouble playing the last line of page one and the second line of page 2 where the melody is in the left hand. Normally I can end up picking it up but for this song I dont seem to be getting any better. Do you have any advice?
One of my preferred pieces. Would you be able to tell me where to get the sheet music? I've tried sheet music plus, but I guess I'm not very good at searching for music.
I did not think this piece would be possible on the piano. And then I heard this. Incredible
Sophie Jones Me too. Incredible!
Sophie Jones all is possible to play on 🎹
Every song in the entire universe is playable on piano. True fact.
I played it on my 8th year of piano school
@bill Bloggs ok asian kid
Great, Mr. Harrison Ford!
This is amazing. You move your hands across the keys so gracefully, and you hit every accent perfectly. Definitely gave me chills... great playing!

Would greatly appreciate a tutorial with fingering suggestions! I'm struggling a little with this piece, and currently must do without an instructor. Personally my maximum span of comfort is apprx an octave.
You only need an octave, use pedal to cover for when you lift up hands

I've been practicing this song for a short time and I find I'm having trouble playing the last line of page one and the second line of page 2 where the melody is in the left hand. Normally I can end up picking it up but for this song I dont seem to be getting any better. Do you have any advice?
Hi Paul, this is my videoresponse, it's just first part, but i am going to study further......Sergei Prokofiev - The Montagues and the Capulets, piano
Wow you played so well! Its so inspiring :)
Did you learn this by yourself or did you have a tutor?
Probably by himself
Bravo
One of my preferred pieces.
Would you be able to tell me where to get the sheet music? I've tried sheet music plus, but I guess I'm not very good at searching for music.
I also have very small hands and would very much like to give it a try. Are you planning to repost a link to the score? I would love to try it!
What a beautiful and accurate piano transcription. By the way, is it a U1 or a U3? Thanks!
