LEGO PORSCHE -VS- 120KM/H ROCKET SLED (Recreating the Mythbusters vanishing car episode)

- Опубликовано: 25 окт 2017
- Henrik, David and Sylvia try to recreate the epic Mythbusters episodes “Compact compact” where Adam and Jamie tries to make a car disappear between two trucks going at highway speed. That doesn’t work so they try to recreate the results by accelerating a steel plate to the speed of sound on a rocket sled. This results in one of the best slowmotions of all time.
We really want to recreate this by using our own small scale rocket sled and a Lego Technic Porsche 911 gt3. So many things can go wrong but the results are amazing.
Watch how the rocket was made:
• Rocket Knife BTS - Mak...

A friendly reminder and the tip of the day; To avoid looking like a fool always watch the entire video and read the description of any youtube video before leaving a negative comment. Always be well informed on the subject in question before making a statement not only on the internet but in life in general. This way you will learn more, perhaps become a better person and avoid being dismissed as the person that passes judgment without knowing the subject. Or in other words looking like a fool.
David Windestal i am the 100.101 Subscriber 😄
Or the 37th in base10 :D
You wasted money
David Windestal ggjhggh
David Windestal HI DAVID!!! U WERE GREAT ON FLITE TEST
I’m actually more impressed you found almost all the pieces to rebuild it 😄
if u look closely at 5:48, there's an insect on the front hood, it gets crushed by the rocket-woodpiece...
The fly didn’t know what was coming until it was too late.
How you saw that?
I'm sure the annoying little fucker deserved it
Got Rekt!🤣🤣🤣
I don't see it
It looked almost as if the crumple zones were working along with the cabin protection to try and save any driver/passenger all the way to the last minute, just like a real car would. I am hugely impressed guys!
For the final you should do rocket sled vs rocket sled.
Yessssss
Fastest mashed potatos next? 🤓
Giaco Whatever you here? Nice
Giaco Whatever well didn't expect you
hit potatoes with a tennis racquet
TheBackyardScientist yoo
5:28 for the high speed footage. ;)
AirCannonChannel... Thanks man!
AirCannonChannel thx
AirCannonChannel thx
Not all heroes wear capes
And fly death
The final result with the revived car was to expect. Lego designes products that should resist to kids and kids are far worst than car accidents.
Being a kid, I can approve that we are far worse than car accidents.
The look on Adam's face has always been my favorite part of that Mythbusters episode.
+smoothvirus Adam is my hero 😂 that face is absolutely priceless
That was the face of a man who had just witnessed the perfect symphony of complete destruction.
It is so sad of that beautiful lego Porsche 911 GT3 RS i have one to and i paid €330 for it
Well they rebuild it.
They should have used a fake one from lepin
i agree
Me too Jens, this was painful to watch.
Emotions over a mass produced consumer product? Hope one day you'll wake up.
haha the composition with the mystbusters footage at the end is cool !!
MOARRR SMOOOSHING!!!!!!
Yes master
Shush you. I haven't finished watching it
😂
FinalGlideAus Gator cam
How did u get here? LOL im thinking the same thing. #STEELE
Being LEGO, probably cheaper to use a real Porche :p
sypher0101 So true lol
Yeah but it's still 300 fucking buck lmao
Awesome video, and congrats on the 100k subs !!
That was TOTALLY WICKED!!! Adam really needs to see this. You basically recreated their test perfectly, just scaled down. Great job!
Maybe try to get in touch with adam savage/tested to do some cooperation. Adam is quite fond of rc stuff as a camera platform, maybe do a one day build together or something... I guess Simone Giertz is also still with tested, could be a swedish double feature thingy :-)
That would be a dream come true. But I'm pretty sure they are plenty busy.
David Windestal Adam Savage is out on tour going from City to City
David Windestal he's a scientific Rockstar
Tim Morel but only in The Usa... David lives in Sweden since he left FliteTest
Probably. But at the same time they need content for tested, it seems it isn't going that strong anymore. Maybe just pitch some ideas, and maybe some folks watching this stuff can leave a couple of comments with tested that there's some interesting dude they have to invite. I mean beside the obvious part of you being awesome in fabricobbling there is also the diy business owner with giving knowledge back to society (yadda yadda...) which pretty much aligns with adams ideals...
sooooooooooooooooooo, if you made the track longer and added a second stage, how fast do you think you could get the sled ??
This hurt so much to watch
Black Box Me too. :(
Same
no
Watching the excitement of two adult men that destroyed a lego car sounding like 5 year olds, is priceless.
This proves how strong Lego is.
Whenever you thought about what Skandinavians do with all of their space and ideas, here you go. Thank you for this experiment!
I CAN ALREADY TELL THESE GUYS HAVE A LOT OF FUN
most satisfying part was to get to know that you managed to fully rebuild the car
Never stop doing what you do, David!
Death by rocket should be a form of capital punishment
+David Windestal -- OK, my favorite episode is "UV art at night - with fire! and explosions!", but this is most definitely my second favorite. Absolutely incredible! Keep them coming!
wow i can't believe you were able to rebuild the car after that , was breathtaking to watch ,thank for sharing
That's the first time I watch your content since you were in FliteTest. I've got to say, you are still as awesome as ever!
Thanks man :)
The force of impact to a car front-to-back is so strong it can actually crumple the body in the rear. The slow-mo of your Lego impact demonstrates this as you can see the rear end oscillating from the impact. When my wife had a drunk pull left in front of her (while she was going 60mph) the impact was so strong the rear hatch and rear quarter panels had huge dents in the body from the force of the hit. The middle of the car was mostly clean. Front left was obliterated.
Cool video, glad you rebuilt it, it's crazy how indestructible legos are.
The slowmo was very pretty and informative. But the in-car video was epic. I even flinched as the smoosh happenned
Dave Dave Dave.. .Dave's not here man....oh yeah he is.
He blowing things up!
You and Henrick are a blast my friend. Thanks for all the laughs and mind boggling slo-mo chopping action.
See you in the sky!
STONEWULFF FPV
Did anyone else see the bug on the bumper in front of the hood trunk (hunk) as the sled hit? It looks like it starts to try and fly away right before it gets smooshed.
Curtis Johnston whoa!!
That thing ruined the bug's whole damn afternoon.
5:48 ya, looked like a little spider
On FB i was like.. NOOOOOO not lego's!!!! but this was freaking awesome!!!! and the car is stil rebuildable, its great advertising for LEGO :-)
Many of the pieces are surely lost, broken or deformed.
This comment made me feel a bit better after seeing that beautiful Lego Porsche smashed into pieces
Anthony van Hamond Its definetly not rebuildable
Funnystein watch the entire video
Amazing the model survived so well. Great experiment and well executed.
PORSCHEEEEEE NOT PORSCH!!
+Andi Filser ruclips.net/video/ZqWa1c4sf9Q/видео.html 😂
David Windestal xD nice Videos anyways!! ;p
Na you did wrong too it's said Porscha, Porsche
posh
Its called porsche WWITH PRONOUNCED E, believe me, im german.
My favorite episode so far. Camera shots were all perfect too.
That was insane! :D Seriously, just wow! Watching that LEGO Porsche explode like that in slow motion was awesome! I normally don’t condone the senseless destruction of LEGO masterpieces, but this isn’t senseless destruction. This is destruction in the same of science, and that I approve of XD. Plus that slow motion footage was just plain cool! I just subscribed to your channel, and am looking forward to seeing what kind of experiments you guys cook up next. :)
We definitely need MORE LEGO MODEL THINGS!
love this one
+TheBackyardScientist Cheers Kevin 😁
11th like!
That set is amazing with all the detail under the hood
I know Adam will probably watch this at some point so hi Adam thanks for all the cool shows you put on and thanks David for re-creating it!
Beautiful how the front of the Porsche gets smashed while the back remains perfectly still at the same time!
But I think the wooden sledge turned upways and saved the LEGO bricks from more lethal damage, imagine the metal sledge going straight forward with full force...
Guys--- THIS was AWESOME!
SO good!
2:45 The professor was just trying to make some science noodles man.
Wow, really cool slow-mo, and really cool that you rebuilt the car after too!
Lesson to take away from this is we should all drive around in Lego cars, when we have a crash just bring the pieces home in some plastic bags and get the instructions out!
I want to marathon mythbusters now.
''membit'' part had me in tears
That was awesome! It was cool to see that the sled took a clean spiral path through! Lol should do an aluminum smash plate next time.
I am so glad you were able to rebuild it! Great footage!! just wow !
"Oh no...it's a Combat Carl."
Glad you showed the rebuild it still looked awesome.
Crash tests with lego are more expensive than with real cars...
4:02 ok this is kinda epic at 0.25 speed
Didn't even recognize David! That was awesome!
Even in a Lego Porsche - you can see the Crumple zone going to work...
kids in africa could have eaten that lego
schneggedigger - Fuck the kids in Africa...I'm starving....
the things you watch when you're supossed to be sleeping..
that was glorious and made me wince looking at the Porsche on my shelf!
The rewind is the best part.
Your best rocket sled episode yet...
And now every LEGO collector cringes a little when they see this. This is now a $1200 set o.O
I'd be surprised if Porsche doesn't call you up and tell you to remove this video, since their cars never crash.
therealdeadpen LMAO
therealdeadpen like when Rolls Royce called Post Malone to take down "white iverson" because they didnt want him to drift around in a Desert with a RR 😂
Should have used a mustang model then.
But what about the one paul walker was in
???
>:(
Your calculations might be a bit off but 1200000kps is 4.003c.... So about 4 times the speed of light, man you guys have some fast cameras!
When I saw you were using the limited edition 911 I was like...NNNNOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
But it was refreshing to see that you guys were a little saddened by it's demise too. I appreciate that you care.
Great episode, great editing.
bigbuckoramma did you see the end? They put it back together
Obviously.
I'm just glad the Porsche was rebuilt. Advantage of Lego.
that is not a cheap kit to be smooshing. lol i respect you for it.
Thats cool that you were able to rebuild it
Rocket sled vs Lego Deathstar! Now with more lead plate on the sled and more fuel!
YES! More Sylvia! YES YES YES :) Can we see more Johanna too - Snälla rara :)
Oh, yeah, good car smoosh too. You still need to split a birch or pine log
and now you have a crash-tested Lego Porsche.
Noice.
Needs to be sponsored by Lego.
great video guys. your best yet. love the mythbusters flash back comparison. also ill be buying that lego porshe so i can build that transmission. looking forward to your next video
Fantastic job, guys. Well done.
I love this video and the rocket cam.
Hard to watch but worth it for all this entertainment
Coolest thing I've seen all year! I had to start watching your other videos, good stuff!
You guys need to keep doing this this is awesome do it with more ships maybe even two ships colliding into each other slow mo
4:10 the moment you realize you fucked up
freaking amazing for real
When things are going just great and life comes at you out of nowwhere
the fly on the front hood be like:
I've landed on a unknown orange planet, interesting!
1 step for fly, is a giant st(SPLAT)....
This is like putting $500 in an industrial shredder
$300, and the time spent building this intricate Lego set., destroyed, in one moment.
Thanks to my phone having a cracked screen this looked awesome
Two mammals with some money to spend, spent it unwisely, and wanted human beings to know.
lego pieces can survive the (wooden) rocket sleigh
this is lowkey lego promotion
hahah i just watched that mythbuster episode a day or two ago..well done yall
ahahah love smooshing
Awesome. Didn't think it would be that cool.
Ive wanted that set since it came out 😲😲😲😲
Warning: Danger zone filled with legos
Arima Kousei I dare them to run around barefoot in that area now,
Before they fix it
xDDD
That was hell of epic!
i dont even waity till the end too like your videos anymore you guys just rock
5:42 is the best scene to use in a transformer movie
Putting a haystack behind the car comes in pretty handy when searching for small parts! Congrats for that! ;-) But it's a great video!
I didn't know that lego bricks could actually break.. Shocking.
BEAUTIFUL!
Lego cost a fortune and these people are just breaking it!
NOOOOOOO THEY KILLED A LITTE BUG ON THE HOOD OF THE PORCHE
