Think permaculture/ _restoration_ ag is more sensible than building a bunch of expensive plastic components and using purchased inputs to grow plants when a durable, cheaper garden modeled after how nature does it with much simpler mods, more resiliency and a lot less expense is available.
@christophorus9235 You're right, because there is zero assumption, and the plasticky components are a much more brittle _system._ That said if you're in the inner city and can recycle used components it's less of a problem, but that system has layers of issues...
Is there any concern about using PVC for this purpose, especially since the plants will eventually be consumed? Does the plastic pose any risk in terms of leaching chemicals into the water or plants?
tower planters not new because they have been made and used by amatuer and professionally in hydropnics randomly for decades and there were even sketches and drawings of them made of tile over a few centuries old
I own a full system of stuff to grow fish in 2 large 275 gallon tanks & to pump their waste water across lots of plastic barrels cut into halfs, I also have the 6 in pvc to make these vertical gardens. THe waste from the fish is nutrient laden & you feed all your plants in this process & the water is returned clean to the fish. Tilapia is a frequently chosen fish to grow but I guess you could use any type of fish. Thanks for showing this, it gave me some other ideas about what I own & what more I might add - it is kool !
The big issue is the vertical tube not being a large enough diameter and the plants getting root bound. When they do so it blocks a s starves the water to the plants below. The fluid will the. Run out side of the tube onto the floor. So adapt a large diameter tube and limit the amount of plants in the tower. If you do so then these vertical towers are fun!
vertical towers i've never had any issue getting root bound , with proper water flow the roots cascade down the inside of the tube very nicely and the water flose down them like a shower curtain
Well, I made such vertical gardening tubes 40 years ago. Still have some in my backyard. Hard to get the roots and the soil out of them after the plants are gone.
the vertical tower is more suited for hydroponics no soil needed , the nutrient solution is pumped to top and floses down , no root bound no soild no issues
@@DMPB-fi2ir True, at the time I hadn't the time to play with pumps and nutrients and I used it for hanging flowers, so it was only time in the year to work on it.
I think can use Chinese big bamboo to do the job, so you don't need to [get the root and soil out], next year, change a new bamboo (tube). Good business, even Trump adds 60% raffia 😉
As a landscaper of 25 years these are mostly all great ideas. First one not as good. Edible plants require soil for uptake of nutrients in order to provide humans with proper nutrition.

Decent video until the end when you pointlessly killed all the fungus and grass at the end... do you really think concrete is more pleasant on your eyes and feet than grass? People do this and it seems pointlessly aggressive.
ALL OF YOU IDEAS ARE PATENTED DO YOUR RESEARCH AND BECARFUL IF YOU ARE GETTING PAID FOR YOU VIDE YOU WILL GET SUED FOR COPYRIGHT AND PATENT INFRIGMENTS
It isn't patented because that would be a total waste of money. It takes $20 million in annual sales to cover the legal maintenance to begin to profit from a patent.

You'd be incorrect on that assumption friend.

I built these 20yrs ago, and hear we are.
Anyone can do this.
Yup I do a similar thing with 40 gal plastic drums.
Yep, did this like 5 years ago for strawberries
Is there any concern about using PVC for this purpose, especially since the plants will eventually be consumed? Does the plastic pose any risk in terms of leaching chemicals into the water or plants?
Yes.
Most household plumbing is PVC. Most greenhouse and hydroponic gardens are plumbed with PVC... I could go on.
@@galelongputt Probably why cancer rates are skyrocketing.
You can buy food safe pvc piping... Now if it were a lead pipe then definitely yes!! - that would pose a serious health risk
A lot of drinking water pipes are pvc

Looks like I want a welder for christmas.. Any suggestions on brands in the USA?
Lincoln
I have a lincoln 210MP. Solid machine, and I'm a journeyman welder. Just make sure whatever you buy is supported for consumables and parts.

Nice work 👍

Totally AWESOME Dude! Thank you very much. This is a must do! WOW
So cool! Thanks for sharing.
Very nice!
Great video
Do you think PVC plastic is unhealthy? *spraying plastic with even more toxic color* "I can't here you while spraying?!"
Is it possible without needing a pump?

Becuz boing makes people who request patents disapear😂
you're not supposed to go "why is this not patented?" and just patent it already, this is why so many peoples ideas get stolen by corpo's.
Why patent it? Let it be for public use.
because somebody already patented plants
That was G-d!
