We tear open the shrink wrap and review all the contents within this Dragonbane Box Set. This is a complete roleplaying system from Free League. Dragonbane was recently Kickstarted and is finally available to the public.

I will frigging buy 2x of the starter kits, dm screens and the dice sets out of pure support an solo adventure! Im just kinda sad my two siblings wont even try DnD, a way to connect more with them, it hurts like a gut punch 😔

Kickstarted Dragonbane on day 1 after I fell down the Swedish RPG rabit hole starting with Mörk Borg, Forbidden Lands and Symbaroum. I think Free League is my favourite games publisher and production is absolutely amazing. But the art sold me pretty much immediately.
We can't say enough good things about Free League's product. They're thoughtfully designed and lavishly produced.
The art is indeed amazig. But I dont think it beats second printing off Dragonbane (Drakar och Demoner)

Love the art, very evocative! The Dwarf illustration is my head canon of a Dwarf after seeing the Bakshi Hobbit cartoon at a young age.
"Mirth and Mayhem!"? That's a new one. I like it. Got a nice ring to it.
I kickstarted this and got the DM screen as well. Everything is so high quality that it puts larger game studios to shame. I have not sat down to play it yet, but will soon. I think I have seen that there is a monster supplement coming soon which is much needed. The monsters in the core book are good, but there aren't a lot of them.
There is a Kickstarter for the old world of Dragons and Demons (Drakar och Demoner in Swedish)(Dragonbane) called Altor focusing on the continent of Ereb and the Copper Sea (with the dreaded black pirate ducks).

I’m from Sweden 🇸🇪 and just bought this game (Drakar och Demoner). Very interested in TTRPG but with very limited experience, so I’m watching and reading all I can to get my head around it before involving my brother, my kids and maybe some friends 😅
Loved your unboxing video and that you like what you’ve seen so far! It’s always a blast to watch persons with a true interest and passion which I can clearly see you have! 😊I was also not aware that a GM Screen wasn’t in the box so I went back to the store the next day and bought one.
I found that there actually is hard back books for rules and beastiary (incl. limited collector’s edition) but also sold separately.👌

Hej Peter! Drakar och Demoner är ett väldigt bra spel som också funkar jättebra som första spel - inte alls dumt. Viktigt är att förstå du kan välja att använda de regler du tycker behövs och som du kan, resten kan man improvisera - t ex behöver du ju inte använda regler för resor, läger och sånt om du inte tycker du förstår dem, eller tycker de är onödiga.

I am currently reading the rulebook and adventure book. I am excited to try this system out. I do not feel as this is a heavy lift for a GM. Thanks for the great video!

I am running the campaign for my group right now and they are having a fun time with it. I think the campaign needs a BUNCH of work to not get wonky but its still fun.
We're planning on starting the campaign on Tuesday. We'll follow up with a full review at some point.

I bought the delux box set and all the several extras off the kick starter. However I'm still waiting on delivery. I bought the bestiary with the instant access PDF and didn't get the link for the PDF. I have contacted FL about this and yes its only been a day or two but they haven't replied. I'm still playing Mythras and CoC, vs Darkmaster and Castle and Crusades and loving them, though.

I love that this game has reached international audiences since it was my gateway drug to the hobby, and I really liked watching your review! It's a solid game, the roll-down is a lot of fun and the monster battles are exciting and deadly. However, it suffers from the opposite of D&D and Pathfinder: its characters never really advance in a meaningful way.
Makes sense as this doesn't really seem like it's competing in the same design space as DnD or Pathfinder. Most skill based systems don't have you unlocking new features or abilities all that often. Instead you get incremental improvements to the skills you use. We'll see how it feels in play over a campaign, because we're gonna dive into the included adventure soon!

This is rather the norm in ttrpgs - D&D / pathfinder are unusual in that they go for a loincloth-to-demigod within the default progression arc. Usually the ruleset aims for gritty OR heroic. Dragonbane is an offshoot from BRP by chaosium (same rules family as RuneQuest or Call of Cthulhu), which typically are a rather grounded, deadly experience. I mean - a dragon will ALWAYS be a nigh impossible adversary in Dragonbane, no matter your experience. New Edition Dragonbane has put some limitations to the system for fluidity, the older ones had a more open basic mechanic, allowing for skills over 20 and spells at open power level (but harder for each level), for instance. So if you had "Fire" at an extreme value of 26, you could blast away with a lvl 10, if lucky.
There is a game master screen, it’s just sold separately
We do have the GM Screen. It came with out Kickstarter, which is why we got confused.
As a Swede I will say, you absolutely butchered the pronunciations of Drakar och Demoner.
