      "The writers don't know anything" The writers know a fuck ton about Star Wars. They're all fans, but Disney wants to ditch EU because it's too much of a contradictory clusterfuck so they started again. Don't act like the entire EU is a goldmine of Star Wars lore because it's not, most of it is shit

    • @gups6662

      I think we are all aware the EU had some issues, not nearly as many as your acting, but some. The exact samething will happen to canon, give it 10-15 years and it will get convoluted 20-30 it will contradict itself. Just remember Disney made sabercopters and a psychic vampire with a parasite issue. Yeah, disney is already screwing up and they have a story group

      The first game wasn't the hardest once you learned the quirks about it. The hardest thing about it was knowing what exactly the mission objectives were. The actual starfighting wasn't all that difficult once you learn to max speed and use quad shots and lead the target. The other games can be painfully difficult especially when you select the higher difficulties. I think X-Wing VS Tiefighter was the hardest because all the ships were balanced for multiplayer. The AI was programed assuming that it would be facing several thinking and coordinated human beings working together.

      I know I am not who you were asking, but no, in my opinion X-Wing was the easiest of the X-Wing games. in the first X-Wing game there was no capital ship which was a serious threat to your fighter, however in Tie Fighter not having sheilds on half the missions made it much more chalanging as 1 hit could cripple your ship, then in Aliance there were capital ships which would shread your fighter in seconds even with sheilds.
      in X-Wing the worst threat was a swarm of ties, and all you had to do was make sure not to attack them head to head.

    Agree to disagree about #1.
    If you are including Legends material then the most undisputed best Starfighter is the Missile Boat.
    That sucker is twice as fast as A-wings, has more ordinance than several B-wings (up to 40 concussion missiles, or 20 and 5 space bombs) and was designed to manauver even better than TIE Defenders and killing them in staggering ratios. It's fully capable of destroying MC80s or ISD IIs solo with a competent pilot. No Starfighter line in the Star Wars universe has that things kill ratios shy of the flying Mary Sue called The Sun Crusher. The Missile Boats only real flaw is it has 1 weak laser cannon. It is literally designed to be the modern jet with missiles verses WW2 dogfighting planes, it even has after burners.
    It was designed by Thrawn himself.

      @@brentbartley6838 That's why it had an afterburner and hyperdrive. You can kill why you can't catch up to.
      Plus really? There's a solution to running out of missiles besides the obvious reloading. Having a Squadron of backup missiles boats. A wing of these takes down the entire Rebel Alliance. A wing of these is 2,880 concussion missiles and 1,440 proton torpedoes. Even if only half the missiles hit that's every fighter in the Rebel Alliance. Then 1,440 proton torpedoes to rend asunder the fleet.

    I miss the TIE Phantom on this list.
    Cloaking itself, sneaking up on it´s enemy and striking with a blast from it´s 5(!) cannons...
    Wouldn´t that be a really deadly craft?

    • @SoftisNelaris
      @SoftisNelaris 7 лет назад +4

      The Phantom dosen't have a lot of versatility or flexibility. It has no Ion Cannons or warhead launchers, and besides its cloak and slightly larger number of laser cannons it's pretty much the inferior to the X-Wing.
      Phantom would probably make a good #6 or #7 though.

    • @sim.frischh9781
      @sim.frischh9781 7 лет назад +5

      It certainly is a dangerous ship, but yes, little in equipment and all in all very situational.
      But the list was about the deadliest, and a backstabber like the Phantom sure fits that bill.

    • @SoftisNelaris
      @SoftisNelaris 7 лет назад +3

      Don't get me wrong, the Phantom is very deadly and I really like its design, But this is a list of the top 5 most powerful, most destructive, most lethal fighters in the galaxy. The TIE Phantom is quite deadly, but the only thing it has over the ships on this list is the cloaking device. The other ships on the list have equal or better firepower, defenses, and speed.
      In a scout, ambush, and assassination role the Phantom is unmatched by any other starfighter. But it's just not quite as powerful as ships like the TIE Advanced. Like I said, 6th or 7th place for the Phantom would be perfect, and if you argue that the X-83 is just a more advanced X-Wing, then the Phantom would take 5th place.

    • @sim.frischh9781
      @sim.frischh9781 7 лет назад +2

      I wrote that too strong, sorry. I did not disagree with you.
      You are correct, the Phantom is too situational. An honorable 6th place is perfectly appropriate.

    Speaking of the destruction of the Executor at the hands of that crashing A-Wing, I've long wondered why Kamikaze attacks like that aren't more common. Design a small ship like a stripped down A-Wing with nothing but a power generator, engines, and a droid brain. Make it a very solid design with as little empty space as possible. Make it sturdy and durable without devoting too many resources to making it heavily armored. Then, program it to fly straight into the most vulnerable section of an enemy capital ship at maximum speed.

    ARC, StarVipers and/or Chiss Nssis fighters are my some of my favorites.
    The Nssis especially, as when they enter combat they use their manuvering thrusters to put them into a spin and fire the cannons, creating an impossible-to-evade assault! They are also shielded, have a class 1.5 hyperdrive and have decent armor when compared to the normal tie, but are slightly slower, and often lack nav-coms relying on Chiss hyperspace bouey systems.

    Don't see how the E-wing is better than the X-wing. Ewing had countless problems from faulty lasers to a single proton torpedo launcher. Yes it has 16 torpedoes it could fire but it had to fire them one at a time. Requiring a specialized astromech just to handle its systems, would make maintenance a nightmare. Its shields were not much better than the Xwing either. As a side note the E-wing could be argued to be a modified X-wing as the designers for it were from Incom.

      I was wondering about that too. Shields, hyperdrive, tractor beam, comparable speed and maneuverability to the TIE advanced series and Defender (or at least the Interceptor), and a heck of a lot of ordnance.
      When you use it in the TIE Fighter game, you could be asked to do just about anything short of actually disabling ships like the Defender could, but you could do seemingly any other role from space superiority to destroying or at least crippling capital ships as big as ISDs and Liberty Mon Cal Cruisers.
      One of my favorite missions in that game is when you use a Missile Boat to almost single-handedly cripple something like a Liberty Mon Cal by destroying all its weapon hardpoints with 40 missiles and 30 proton torpedoes, not to mention its fighter escorts.

    Also, I've seen the Missile Boat mentioned in the comments. I agree that it was a fantastic starfighter, and just another example of Thrawns brilliance. However, once it runs out of
    ordnance, it's useless in an offensive role Give it at least 2 heavy laser cannons and a heavy ion cannon in addition to its standard configuration (though remove the medium laser cannon first, it's obviously unnecessary) and you've got something that can definitely give the TIE Defender a run for its money, and have minimally decreased effectiveness after it has exhausted its supply of ordnance. This next bit is a little off topic, but personally, if I were the commander of my own faction within the Star Wars universe, I would try to get a hold of Thrawn so I could scan his brain and make an advanced droid with his personality and memories, albeit altered so it would be utterly loyal to me. I would give it extremely high processing power like that of a super tactical droid, and it would be equipped with a heuristic processor so it could learn through experience. I would also build it without a creativity damper, so that it could use Thrawns personality to the best of its abilities and think of new tactics and ship designs. I think another way to improve your ships would be to become allies with the Chiss Ascendancy, and send them any new designs or technology you come up with, and see how they modify and use them.

  • @bharland85

    As others have noted... the Virago (StarViper) deserves a place here if you're doing the real Star Wars (EU). While Xizor's was really the only one we saw functioning at it's best.... S-foils controlling interdependent maneuvering jets on the end of four distinct 'wings' that keep the vehicle in a constant undulating motion, 4 power plants (one on each wing) with independent fuel supplies offering four times redundancy on core functions, cutting edge weapons targeting suite independently controlling a pair of heavy laser cannons on a swivel (shoot behind you or beside while in motion), paired with dual proton torpedo launchers? Pew-pew-pew, right? But how does it stack up against your list?
    Better accel/max sublight/turning than an x-wing, better firepower/turning (and almost as fast in sublight) as an a-wing, all around better anything the Empire was fielding at the time (in fact it was all around better than even Vader's Tie-Advanced), class 1.0 hyperdrive (military capital ship speed) with a backup hyperdrive if the primary failed... but wait, there's more! What if you want to take a long trip? Well, with it's 1 METRIC TON of storage and two month supple of provisions... you can also smuggle with it or even carry small groups of personnel. It's not built for fighting in atmosphere... but if you keep it in space, you won't have much to fear from anything smaller than a gunship. That is a notable starfighter... certainly more than the bizarre and obscure twin-tail.

    I personally prefer the design of the TIE-Advanced over the Defender despite it being weaker. The Defender just looks weird to me.
    I wonder how the TIE silencer (forgot the other name of Kylo Ren's TIE) stacks up against the Advanced/Avenger since their design seems pretty similar visually. EDIT : Nvm, this video exists on this very channel.

Also, aren't hyperdrive systems expensive and the TIE fighter was supposed to be extremely cheap? They were essentially metal crates with engines strapped to them.

      The Tie advance was abandoned by the empire because in practice it wasn't much better than a standard tie fighter. The only advance worth anything was Vaders and even then it was because Vader modified it.

    I'm REALLY supprised the B-wing wasn't on this list. The non cannon and cannon abilities it demonstrates are nuts. While not good in fighter vs fighter combat. it carried the firepower equal to a small capitol ship while still keeping the speed and maneuverability of a fighter bomber. In the animated series a b-wing has a death star style super laser that cuts through an undamaged Imperial cruiser with 1 shot and kills it.
    In some sources the ship carries a capitol scale tubolaser.. in others its heavy laser can be used to "scan" the shields of capitol ships allowing its torpedoes to bypass their shields. For pure firepower, sheilds and such the b-wing was simply in a class of its own. Seriously any fighter that could come in, take hits from a cruisers guns then... oneshot said cruiser... should be on the list.

    I like how in this list he put the TIE Defender as number 2. Then later does a verse video of a TIE Defender and a X-83 Twin Tail. Where he called the TIE Defender the winner. Funny how time can change your opinion of this stuff. I be if he did this list again. We would get the same 5 craft only with first and second spots reverse.

  • @commandermime38
    @commandermime38 7 лет назад +17

    The E Wing was a failure. it was fast with good shields, sure, but it also had glitches. It was only intended to take over the X Wing, but never did. if you were the imperial remnant, and you came across a group of E Wings, then they were no problem, while X wings would have made them turn tail and run. (although that might also have to do with reputation)

  • @18videowatcher41
    @18videowatcher41 5 лет назад +1

    I love all of these fighters, but my favorite are the TIE Defender, the E-Wing, and the X-83 Twin Tail. I think they could all be improved though (optimizing star wars ships and vehicles is a hobby of mine). For example, take the TIE Defender: Give it a more powerful, though preferably not too much larger, reactor. Then, equip each wing with 2 heavy laser cannons, put 2 (preferably heavy) ion cannons on the fuselage just in front of the cockpit i.e. where the laser cannons on a standard TIE are, and either put one launcher in between the ion cannons, or put one on each side of the cockpit at about mid-level. Would this be expensive to build and difficult to maintain? Yes. It would also be cramped inside, but that's beside the point. Would it be a superior starfighter when combined with the TIE Defenders already outstanding performance? Absolutely. Feasible to equip all your pilots with one? No. What about your elite fighter aces? No, they get standard TIE Defenders, and you can give this variant to the best-of-the-best, your most elite fighter pilots within your already skilled group of elite pilots.

      Duncan McGee I disagree with your assessment sir. It's more like each tie is more like a Nissan sentry. speed and agility improve in the newer models. bombers and defenders are akin to the differences between the 2 door, 4 door, and hatch back.

    • @NinjaTyler
      @NinjaTyler 7 лет назад +1

      phil unbekant no the bomber fills an entirely different role, you're essientally saying a car meant for cruising and luxury is in the same class as a high power work truck with 4 wheel drive, sure they're made by the same company but they serve vastly different purposes and cannot be called the same car at all.

    • @philunbekant6809
      @philunbekant6809 7 лет назад

      NinjaTyler true but with the exceptions of the tie bomber, punisher, and phantom all ties serve the same roll. A t 70 x- wing is superior to a t 65 but it's still an x- wing. in that way how is it different between a tie fighter and a tie interceptor?
