      I loved Henry Cavill's Superman, I think that Cavill looked good as the character. The problem was the writing, it portrayed Superman as this edgy, emotionless, all-powerful superhero, instead of the caring, charismatic hero who stands up for the little guy. I think the movies where Cavill shone the most were in Man of Steel and the Ultimate Edition of Batman v Siuperman, because in those movies Superman had some character development (even if it was brief), and he was saving people.from danger. He needed another chance, and I'm sad James Gunn decided to boot him from the roster, and not the psychopath Ezra Miller.

    I think the real problem with Man of Steel was that they purposefully made it dark and moody, blatantly riding the coattails of Nolan's Batman movies. And that just isn't what Superman is supposed to be! Superman is a stark contrast to the dark knight. For Superman to work on screen it should be a story filled with hope, morals with a subtle nod to humour. The film should be colourful and vibrant not dark and dreary. They completely missed the entire point of Superman depsite having possibly the most perfect person to play him! Richard Donners original film nailed the concept of Superman perfectly. Man of Steel was an absolute bloody mess and so off point it beggers belief.

    I've heard he may have been asking for way too much money and major creative control, that an A level star can demand. However Cavill isn't an A level star (probably at least B - C level) and that to some degree I can understand WB being a little hesitant to bring him back due to his demands that maybe he hadn't quiet earned, but at the same time WB was also being extremely difficult as well.

    Personally, I think Man of Steel got the character of Superman very well. Even though he's not going around saving cats out of trees he still helps people in the ways that he can. Like in the oil rig scene, the bar scene and etc.
    He's also a very charming and calming person, as shown in the scene where he tries to help an injured lois in the kryptonian ship in the beginning of the film.
    but thats just my take

    • @AG_Speaks
      @AG_Speaks Год назад +2

      6:44 I also think its kinda unfair to say that this scene captures all Man of steel superman is about when he only does this as a last resort and this is the only time he directly kills someone in the movie. If Superman didn't kill Zod there and then, he would've killed the family that he was shooting lasers at. And if he tried to push him out of the room he just would've kept causing more damage and endangering more people. So he had to make the hard choice and kill Zod to save others since he refused to change his mind no matter how many times Clark pleaded with him.
      And even when he does kill him he cries and shows remorse for having to kill probably the last member of his kind. And saying that all Superman does is cry and brood in this movie is also not true considering this is the only time he cries besides the time his father died.
      I hope this helped clear up some stuff in the movies that you thought was weird 😁👍

      I disagree massively, he had lots of personality in my opinion. Going from comforting and charming and then to altruistic and self reflective. And clark's character arc is a really powerful one.
      Originally being afraid of how people would react to him coming out to the world as an alien in man of steel only for Zod to force himself out of hiding, then having to deal with the aftermath of people finding out he exists and facing the controversy that comes in being such a figure in the world and even when the world hates him he sacrifices himself to stop doomsday because no matter what people think about him Earth is still his world, and finally as he comes back from the dead to a world that finally accepts him-- he wants to continue to make this new chance at life count.

    4:27 I just finished watching it on Netflix for the first 1 hour and 30 minutes I was like "this movie is actually wholesome so far and really sweet and I like Superman's character I don't know what Ricardo was talking about." But then right after that the entire city was destroyed and the villain was talking about bringing back Krypton and it kind of made Superman look like the bad guy for not wanting to bring back his people and it made me feel bad for the villain and I will agree that the movie is not colorful and the climax was really dark with a lot of people dying and stuff so I can understand why Ricardo and some other people don't like it.

  • @AG_Speaks
    @AG_Speaks Год назад +1

    I also personally disagree when it comes to Batman vs Superman, the whole point of batman's character in the film is that he's in the worst possible place right now. Batman kills, that isn't glorified or shown to be a justifiable, Alfred calls him out on it, Superman calls him out on him, Gotham civilians are scared of him.
    His arc is about being hopeful again, and that is brought to him by Superman. A person who was criticized, framed, and treated like a monster by many people but still chooses to help Earth. Even when he's shown that people can be cruel, he chooses to save others in exchange of his own life. "This is my world."
    The themes are shown much better and the film's pacing is much more balanced and cohesive in the Ultimate Edition of the film which I highly encourage you to watch since there are alot of crucial scenes in there that help develop characters more.
    But maybe you still disagree and hate the films even given my commentary; thats still okay! You can like and not like whatever you want I just want you to get a better perspective on why people love these movies 👍👍👍

      @AG_Speaks Год назад

      @@Chadcat180 I think those are two VERY different situations considering the raimi films have the hate Spider-Man gets be something that they only slightly talk about while BvS's plot is quite literally all about the world's reaction to Superman.
      And "being confused about saving people" seems like a weird simplication imo. He was just conflicted on whether he should ever be a superman considering everytime he tries to save a person it always leads to controversy, but by the end he chooses to continue to do the right thing with afew bumps on the way.

      @AG_Speaks Год назад

      @@Chadcat180 You're right about one thing though, martha scene could've very well been the scene that Batman changed but it's not. The real scene that show's batman's change is Superman's death, since he decided to not brand and kill Lex.
      The martha and warehouse scene are about him finally understanding Superman and showing him as someone who's willing to right his wrongs and helping him out and even finally saving someone's mother in a way he couldn't do with his own.

    The biggest reason why this Batman and the superman failed has to do with the fact that everybody’s in love with golden age versions of these heroes and this is a completely different universe to the golden era. This is the new 52 where everything is much darker and much grittier, and everybody just wanted a happy go lucky characters and I’m sorry but that just isn’t the new 52 universe. If you want the Golden Era 1950s Superman then go back and watch the Christopher Reeve‘s movies. if you are too slow to understand that there are different iterations of these characters that exist in different universes. Well, that’s your problem.

    • @AG_Speaks
      @AG_Speaks Год назад

      I agree that that is most of the reason why alot of movies and adaptions of comic book media get alot of flack. Many people don't accept change and evolving characters when it doesn't fit their already preexisting perception of characters.
      Henry Cavill's Superman was always, Superman. Everyone just kept looking at what made him different than what kept him the same as other iterations.

      I’m more just indifferent to Snyders world. On its own I don’t mind batman killing like he’s done it before in like Burtons adaptation. I think for me personally if your gonna reference things like Jason Todd or establish that Joker is still alive with a Batman that kills is just odd. If Jason were to come back Batman just looks hypocritical cause like Batman killed or kills henchmen that more or less pose little to no threat while Jason wants to kill Joker a character for little to no reason has killed multiple people including Jason yet Jason is chastised for it. I mean if Batman was to kill anyone Joker should be at the top of the list like kill him on the spot. Also I find it odd how Gordon still works with or associates himself with Batman if he kills. I think Superman was fine I mean I don’t mind what they did with him all in all I just think audiences would have accepted the darker take or serious take on Superman if we saw the more hopeful side for at least one more or two more movies before his life went to shit. Spend more time with him growing or getting to know Lois meeting Jimmy Olsen seeing him enjoy his life before things get complicated.
