Im having trouble convincing my cohabitant about the importance of the foot rest and also introducing solids before 8 months, both because child welfare center in Sweden told us 1. Footrest isnt needed/wont make a difference. 2. The recommendation regarding when to introduce solids is at 8 months at earliest in Sweden. I cant find any studies regarding the foot rest for babies, can you link me any of those that I can show her? The solids part is probably something I can find quite easily, but if you have any studies of the pros of starting to introducing this earlier than 8 month Id gladly read that as well :) Thanks for all the great content!
It's fascinating to hear that in various countries the recommendation for when to start solids is different. Every country has it's own guidelines, and I recommend that you follow what is recommended in your country. In the United States, the American Academy of Pediatrics puts out the recommendations that I follow as a pediatrician. We recommend starting solids at 6 months to offer additional sources of iron in the baby's diet. A link to the guidelines that I follow is here: www.aap.org/en-us/advocacy-and-policy/aap-health-initiatives/HALF-Implementation-Guide/Age-Specific-Content/Pages/Infant-Food-and-Feeding.aspx As far as the recommendation for a footrest on the high chair, from what is known about the connection between a proper sitting posture and it's affect on stabilizing the core, which also leads to a safe swallow, speech-language pathologists and occupational therapists recommend a footrest be present on a high chair.
In the United States we recommend offering 15 to 30 ml to water starting around 6 months. Since breast milk and formula are liquid and meet the baby’s fluid needs, we don’t recommend giving large amounts of water starting out. What is raggi? It’s not a food that I’m familiar with.
Finger millet otherwise called ragi porridge is highly recommended by Indian doctors..and about water, now its summer season for us (state - kerala). The temperature is around 35 degrees..everyone says like give water to ur baby otherwise he will get dehydrated and all..and iam very confused about giving water..
@@happytime243 I'm intrigued to hear about the different foods that various cultures start their baby's off with. I also looked ragi porridge up, and it looks like a nutritious food that would fall into the carbohydrate food group. Regarding water, I do know that in other cultures they recommend starting water earlier, and I have parents who give their baby water starting from a young age. Giving small amounts of water is okay, it's giving large amounts that can be a problem for the baby's kidneys and can decrease the appetite for breast milk or formula.
@@friendlykiddoc8796 Hi, for the water is it 15-30ml “daily” for my 6month old or is it 15-30ml whenever my baby wants to drink water at anytime through the day ?
Hi Sukanya. I recommend the feeding bibs that are made from a lightweight waterproof material and wrap around the baby's back. In this episode: ruclips.net/video/WGxTNU-cPkE/видео.html I show several options, and have links in the video description section to make it easier for you to find them. I hope this helps.

@@sotonibidaminabo9056 you may give 15 to 30 ml when your baby wants. At 6 months they usually will take water 1 to 3 times a day.
