I still got the keys and police report but motorbike was gone for good. Feel sorry for those who depend on their motorbike to make a living in London.

The guy in pursuit is a true warrior. I have done the same several times, giving chase to them on my bike, but it is hard to keep up with them since they always ride through red lights, or go up on pavements , and drive in a way that greatly endangers their own lives, at very high speed, so they are almost impossible to catch once mobile. The route he took is where I live, so I can tell that he was chasing them very fast. It is scary to go that fast. But all these criminals need fuel, so they all have to visit petrol stations. That would be a good ambush point - they are stationary. If police were to lay in wait at petrol stations then they would catch at least one gang per night- red handed on stollen bikes with no number plates. `i hope the police take up this suggestion, or at least try it out. I like the Police's current strategy of going undercover as delivery drivers. It makes sense because the police man can get paid for his police time plus get paid for the deliveries he does. It would be good if such police were armed with guns, since they will need them.

I was driving through the town and then I saw him, turned my Aerox after him and he couldn't escape as I had a 70 cc kit in it. Then he thought he lost me in the heavy traffic but I saw where he was going. He turned into an alley and wanted to leave "his" scooter. My friends made a mistake and drove by, alerting him of our presence. He escaped, but we got the scooter. The police came and were aware where he was living. What they did next I don't know, but I guess he was a minor and couldn't be charged of anything.
Best way to deal with these crooks is to work out their favourite escape route, pick a rarely frequented and straight part of it, that isn’t covered by CCTV, stake it out, have spotters out to watch for their return, and rig a long line of thin cheese wire between two lampposts across the road at neck height for scooter riders. When they come zooming back at high speed, they won’t see the nearly invisible wire, and will decapitate themselves. ;)

The guy in pursuit is a true warrior. I have done the same several times, giving chase to them on my bike, but it is hard to keep up with them since they always ride through red lights, or go up on pavements , and drive in a way that greatly endangers their own lives, at very high speed, so they are almost impossible to catch once mobile.
The route he took is where I live, so I can tell that he was chasing them very fast. It is scary to go that fast.
But all these criminals need fuel, so they all have to visit petrol stations. That would be a good ambush point - they are stationary. If police were to lay in wait at petrol stations then they would catch at least one gang per night- red handed on stollen bikes with no number plates.

I like the Police's current strategy of going undercover as delivery drivers. It makes sense because the police man can get paid for his police time plus get paid for the deliveries he does. It would be good if such police were armed with guns, since they will need them.

Grinch, sometimes they do, especially when they get lazy. At a petrol station near my house, they visited it every week, and filled up - but never paid. They even came into the shop and just took whatever they wanted, cans of alcohol, and still did not pay. The garage attendant could do nothing. That garage is now closed down.

I lived in london for a couple months. I got mugged once and i was the luckiest of my friends. London strips you of having any means to protect yourself. I almost wanted to walk around with a bat in my backpack just so I’d have a chance.

You remind me very much of myself. Scumbags stole my Runner 180 and I've never got it back but I was so close! Then it got disassebled and never seen it again, but it was my mistake I started to threat those scumbags online. But! I found two stolen Runners. One was in our underground garage and the other one was stolen by a gipsy and I tracked him down. I was driving through the town and then I saw him, turned my Aerox after him and he couldn't escape as I had a 70 cc kit in it. Then he thought he lost me in the heavy traffic but I saw where he was going. He turned into an alley and wanted to leave "his" scooter. My friends made a mistake and drove by, alerting him of our presence. He escaped, but we got the scooter. The police came and were aware where he was living. What they did next I don't know, but I guess he was a minor and couldn't be charged of anything.

Best way to deal with these crooks is to work out their favourite escape route, pick a rarely frequented and straight part of it, that isn’t covered by CCTV, stake it out, have spotters out to watch for their return, and rig a long line of thin cheese wire between two lampposts across the road at neck height for scooter riders. When they come zooming back at high speed, they won’t see the nearly invisible wire, and will decapitate themselves. ;)
The law applies to everyone vigilantes included, the best way to catch a thief is ambush not pursuit.
I too have been held up at traffic lights and chased by bike thieves when I first passed my bike test , I think most hikers feel the hatred you do for them.
