    In 1988, I bought an '86 Radian, I had never even been on a motorcycle. The salesman asked me, "You know how to ride one?" Me, "Sure!" He just shrugged his shoulders. I had the bike for two years, then sold it. I wish I still had it...

    he tenido una y tube que venderla por necesidad, pero si en mi vida tengo la oportunidad de tener otra no lo pensaria, es una moto unica en su categoria.

    Someone described the sound of a radian as kind of like a jet. I don’t know if I agree with that, but it certainly has a unique sound. Got someone selling one in my area in decent condition. That’s why I’m here 🍿

      Mine makes that same sound in 6th gear. Lots of character for an 80's bike. And surprisingly quick. Definitely a street sleeper for a 600cc 2 valve.

      Hi metal, I'm buying one over the weekend, sorry you may not reply to this but did you have any issues with the bike? I'm buying a 90' made radian so just thought I'd ask yah if there was any common mechanical problems with it when you had the bike?

    • @metalmoto
      @metalmoto 4 года назад +1

      @@beno4936 Hi Ben, No, I never had any problems with it. The valve train was noisy, but this is normal.
      However, I don't recommend installing a frame mount, full coverage faring on it!
      I bought an Pichler fairing, made in Germany, and installed it on my bike. It looked great!
      But it caused the bike to get the "death wobble" at about 80 MPH. I removed it and went with a small matching Yamaha fairing, they sold at the time. This caused no problems. Mine was a 1986 model.
      (Pichler no longer makes motorcycle fairings today). Otherwise it's a great bike! Go for it!

      @@metalmoto awesome thank you, I believe mine has been garaged since it's been ridden, pictures have shown well maintained, 17,000kms done on the clock so that's 11,000miles.. never been dropped

      @beno4936 4 года назад

      @@metalmoto don't think I'll be putting a "frame mount" on the bike, most likely will be changing the handlebars to lean a little more upright for more touring than racing... Would you recommend ant seats? Luggage?

    • @metalmoto
      @metalmoto 4 года назад +1

      @@beno4936 I Bought mine new, as a leftover in 1987.
      I changed the handlebars to a lower narrower position, so as to make it more like a racer.
      These were called "Z" bars, and were adjustable to height and width. But I dont think they make them anymore.
      This was to keep the bars from hitting the fairing, in full lock position.
      The original seat wasn't very comfortable for me. But getting it recovered is expensive. But it can be done.
      I never intended mine for touring, but I made a small removable box, to fit on the tail piece, to carry a few things.
      I always had a very slow leak in the rear tire, so I disassembled a little 12 volt air compressor meant to carry in the trunk of a car, and installed it under the seat. That came in handy many times!
      I had hard saddlebags on my previous bike, they were great, to bring along lots of stuff.
      But I would forget they were there, and bumped a few car bumpers, pulling out of off street parking.
      I live in big city, where parking is tight. But I often took long trips to the mountains, and the saddle bags were great for bringing change of clothing, and some food and supplies for camping.
      I regret to give up motorcycling many years ago, so I have no advice for luggage today.
      Nerve damage in my right hand, made it difficult, to operate the clutch. so I sold my Radian, with only 10K miles on it. Also had to buy an automatic transmission car, as I could no longer drive a manual shift car.
      I had surgery to my hand, to relieve the pain, but my strength never quite returned...
      I'm sure you can get saddlebags and more upright handle bars for this bike. If you intend to use it for touring.
      But the seat is not comfortable for long trips. You would have to get it recovered.
      Overall it's a great bike, and the engine is powerful, and well made, and will last a long time.
      But might not be the best choice for touring, as it buzzy, and has lot's of vibration.
      Hope this helps you. Take it for a test drive, and think about it for comfort.

    Went 85 once on my Radian and it scared me. Love bikes, but there's no safety net. At 90mph in my Acura, there's ABS, stability assist, 4 airbags! It's just so settled. I'm just not cut out to be a speed biker.
