@Alt Shift X I really like this video because your explanation would have made good sense if GRRM hasn't released those chapters that will clearly contrast the theory. More specifically, the one that "why is Euron confident that he will win Dany and Dragon"
Please keep in mind that this question comes from a non-book reader. And it's only just occurred to me now, when doing a repeat watch of this particular video however many years later. But considering that Euron seems to be the character in this whole universe most directly associated with the most batshit, insane, intense "Lovecraftian level of magic" (as you guys have said several times before) is there anyone that thinks this could theory could be true by way of that he's literally in both places at once? That he somehow found a way to split/clone/whatever his body? Again, from a non-book reader, but if there's one person in this whole saga who potentially COULD do something like that, I'd wager it'd be Euron. I'm certainly not making a real argument for it legit being the case, but this possible element only just came to me.
+Tom Langford Euron is Theon's uncle, and Benjen is Sansa's uncle, and Euron=Daario=Benjen, so does that make Theon and Sansa brother and sister for realz?!?
Explain to me why Daario can't love Dany. Even the most treacherous people are capable of affection. Also Daario is probably not in love with Dany's grace and beautiful soul. She's basically a young beautiful badass queen. You don't need an ulterior motive to sleep with her.
The way I see it... GRR Martin doesn't even have to lift a finger to write the next book. All he has to do is to pick one of the nicest theories written by someone else and no one can say shit to him.
@@lovablesnowman Tyrion had purple eyes in the first edition of the first book and it was speculated that he was a bastard born targaeren. They edited that out in later editions though
Show-canon and book-canon are completely separate at this point. Not only that, show: Daario captured 93 Myrenese ships; book: Euron sends 93 ships with Victarion. Aside from the number being the same, they're completely different situations involving different characters (unless Euron = Daario = Victarion now, too).
Imagine how much work is done to investigate all this facts and gather them together for the video.. My God, I'm literally stunned... Now imagine the concentration needed for GRRM to be able to write this thing and keep on writing it knowing there are millions of fans investigating every letter of every word he wrote... Admire
true... however this theory is the most far fetched and forced theory I've heard... there is no way daario = euron... starting by the fact that daario shared command of the stormcrows with the two other captains he killed... you don't get to be a captain of a free company over night... Daario likely had been with the stormcrows for years... probably even before Dany had learned to walk... and we know that Euron had been sailing around the world during those years as well... so no way they are the same person.
Almost all the problems in this theory are solved if Euron is working with the faceless men. Euron has admitted he is responsible for the death of Balon but not by his own hand, and the man described throwing Balon from the bridge is a "man with no face". Euron also once said he threw a dragon egg into the sea, but if Euron is seriously interested in using dragons to takeover Westeros or even moderately values powerful, magical objects, he would never do such a thing and is most likely lying to cover up the fact he used the egg to pay off the faceless men for Balon's assassination. If Euron is intent on stealing Dany's dragons, he doesn't need the egg that he uses to pay the faceless men with to complete his plans, which might be why he would offer it so willingly. In turn, the Faceless men are ancestral survivors of the "Doom of Valyria" and are even implied to be the cause of it, and seem to have their own plot that may involve going against Dany and her dragons by possibly enacting the same kind of magic or ritual used to destroy Valyria in the first place when the faceless men originally revolted against the Targaryens. In the upcoming book, its now confirmed Euron uses and experiments with blood magic, as he's seen preparing for a great sacrifice to summon some great terror to Westeros, so its very, very likely he uses blood magic to increase his sailing abilities to extraordinary, supernatural levels, making his quick voyage between the two places possible. If Euron and the Faceless men are both working together, its enitrely possible Faceless men are filling in for Euron both as himself and as darius between the gaps of his absence in either place. While Euron goes off to try and seduce Dany in mereen, a Faceless man may be wearing Euron's face back home as he organizes or possibly participates in raids on the reach. It might even be possible that the blood ritual Euron is seen preparing for in the upcoming book is directly connected to the Faceless men's plot, whom I remind you, are worshipers of death.
I'm not a book reader, but maybe this could explain why he is so blood thirsty to the point that his ship is drenched in blood and his crewmen's tongue's are cut to keep this very secret, in return for royalty and gold. I dunno. But I am so down with this theory.
@@benschmitt7035 its Likely To be the way It is showed in The Show. Because in the books there is no Direct hint , What we know about the Faceless Men In the Show is through the POV of Arya, and she doesn't Encounter Anyone piercing the face of a man Out of their body but In the House of Undying People come to die and then their body is cleaned and taken somewhere . So I think it is the same as in case of the show.
Could you imagine how badass of a reveal THIS would have been in the show. Dany leaves him behind, suddenly Euron shows up on the iron islands, camera pans to him - BOOM WTF?? IT'S HIM???
true... however this theory is the most far fetched and forced theory I've heard... there is no way daario = euron... starting by the fact that daario shared command of the stormcrows with the two other captains he killed... you don't get to be a captain of a free company over night... @@oscarbautista4156Who says that Euron was sailing the entire time? He could easily pillage for a few years, then work with the Stormcrows and quickly gain rank due to his skills. The big question is only why Euron would join the sellswords in the first place.
I just love how much effort and reading-between-the-lines it takes to make such videos about deconstructing fan theories. I'll be looking forward for more from you.
Even better: Euron is alluded to be connected to the Three Eyed Crow so what if he’s warging Daario and that’s how he’s doing this? Like Euron learns of how to woo Dany, has a mercenary company in addition to his own Ironborn and is just generally in a solid position.
@@ItsButterBean1020 In my opinion, both of these theories seem more likely than them being just the same person. Either way, it would be really cool if there was some connection between the two - like, imagine Daario supporting Daenerys in burning them all not because he's some random bad boy, but because he has a hidden agenda, based on his connection to the scariest, most evil motherfucker in Westeros.
Well, Daario is older in the books than in the show, apparently. Euron is also old. So, possible but hardly. And if he was his son, he would probably be mute, Idk. But I like he being a close person to Euron rather than Euron himself
+cooldawg2009 Well, in episode 5 he appears in Molestown in what appears to be a day after he's in the Vale. Either he teleported or he has a twin and their working together throughout Westeros while pretending to be one. Or he stole a faceless man face, copied it and loaned them out to his network of smarmy assholes.
Favorite theory next to R+L=J. This puts the Greyjoys in a much more powerful position than they seem to be. Before coming across this theory I've always felt as though the Greyjoys were just tagging along to a party they weren't invited to. Everyone at that party would turn and wonder who the hell they are and what they are doing there. This theory makes their story much more interesting.
"I've always felt as though the Greyjoys were just tagging along to a party they weren't invited to. Everyone at that party would turn and wonder who the hell they are and what they are doing there. " Best description of Greyjoys I've ever heard in my life.
I can see it now. An epic battle between Daenerys, Yunkai, Volantis, sellswords and a Moonboy for all i know, rages on. Each side struggling to push the other to their knees...... and suddenly a band of vikings from the other side of the world randomly swoops in, beats everybody, steals the queen and sails the fuck away.
"There's a semi-popular theory that Euron is actually Daario (E=D). While there have been compelling cases made for this theory, I believe that I have debunked it. Let's go back to what we know about each character. When Dany meets Daario she notices his flamboyant Tyroshi style: Daario Naharis was flamboyant even for a Tyroshi. His beard was cut into three prongs and dyed blue, the same color as his eyes and the curly hair that fell to his collar. His pointed mustachios were painted gold. Now what do we know about Euron? He drinks a very particular beverage. "I mean to open your eyes." Euron drank deep from his own cup, and smiled. "Shade-of-the-evening, the wine of the warlocks." So we know that Euron is drinking shade-of-the evening, which is connected with the Pyat Pree and the warlocks. Where do the warlocks live? The House of the Undying. Un-dying. Now how could Euron -- who we know has a connection to the un-dying ones -- also be Daario who actively participates in dyeing? He can't. It doesn't make sense." -Iamthelolrus 2015
This is the kind of theory that I often literally laugh about when I hear it, but somehow the amount of evidence you just threw at my face makes me legitimately (at least almost) believe it...

In the show, not that it determines what is the case for the books, they have now shown Euron showing back up at the Iron Island while Dahrio is still searching for Daneryres with Jorah. So, at least in the show, this theory is debunked right?
After episode six, Daario estimates needing a "thousand ships" to transport Dany's Khalessar to Westeros. This echoes Euron's order (episode five, I believe) to chop down every tree on the Iron Islands to build a new fleet after he saw Yarra & Theon sail away with the existing one. Watch Euron murder Baylon again, heh. Frame by frame. I'm not sure how this plays out, but the theory has legs...
+Kasper for just an instant, immediately after he throws baylon off that awful rope bridge, he's a shade. like the the smoke baby from season 2 that killed Renly. it's so fast, you'd never otherwise catch it. but it's there.
This is one of the best fan theories I've heard. 93 ships is the main proof here. It cannot be a coincidence! Makes the story so much more interesting if the Greyjoys would get a bigger part. That being said, since Greyjoys are basically forgotten in the TV-show, i think they will not end up being a big player in the GoT.
BenRangel Casting call for season 6 has been released, and it looks like Euron Greyjoy will definitely be in next season. They are looking for a middle-aged actor for the part...so, that kind of debunks this theory. Sucks, I actually really like this theory.
James Van Oss I'm pretty sure it's Euron, though I wouldn't be surprised if they merge the two characters to some extent. Still, if any of the Greyjoy uncles are gonna be in the show, it's will definitely be Euron.
BenRangel Het sets out with 93 ships but 93 dont make it. He loses about half those ships in the journey. I think its just the writers messing with us. They know about all these whacky theories lol. Theres no way Euron has been traveling back and forth this whole time.
I feel like the biggest problem of this is there isn't really a reason to pretend to be Daario to Dany. She has no negative feelings or history for him. In fact being a possible lord of westeros would probably have been an advantage to courting Dany.
That is a good point but he wouldn't be the first to hide his true identity for seemingly no reason. Barristan Selmy didn't give her his true name until Jorah ratted him out and that took a while. Barristan claims he wanted to make sure she didn't share her father's madness. Maybe Euron wants to see if she does.
@@Serenade2461 And i bet both Barristan and Jorah heard of Euron and could tell Dany a story or two about him. Basically you would have a wicked lord from Iron Islands giving Dany aid in war in exchange for marriage. And now, Dario is her lover, who will also happen to provide an army and fleet of ships for her. Way easier to fool Dany that way in to trusting him, right?
@@ghostface4167 also also, way easier to manipulate her in the future if he knows her. If he fucked up in some way and made her hate him under a disguise, way easier to just poof it out of existence and create a new one if needed. And if he reveals himself in the future, he basically knows everything about her and what makes her tick and she has no idea about him.
S06E05 - Euron Greyjoy asks his army to make a 1000 ships. S06E06 - Dario Naharis tells Daenerys that she'll need about 1000 ships to get her armies to Westeros O.o
Yeah a lot of things point to that, but then this 1000 ships thing and the 93 ships thing that he mentioned in this video.. Can't just be coincidence, can it? These references were intentional imo
It wouldn't be the first time that an established character from one of the Westeros storylines appeared in Dany's storyline without the connection being apparent. I know I didn't initially realize who Selmy was when I was reading the books. This could work in favor of the theory or against it, as it could be a sort of foreshadowing, or it be a case where Martin uses a storytelling technique and doesn't want to do the same thing twice.
Oh, but it was obvious that Selmy was with Daenerys, although I couldn't tell it was Arstan Whitebeard. When he left, he asked that he'd go to the rightful king. If that's not Stannis, has to be Dany, no?
ashli moore Euron has two eyes - his "smiling eye" (The Iron Captain, AFFC) and a "black eye shining with malice" beneath his eye patch (Theon I, TWOW). The fact that one of Euron's eyes is apparently black is kind of a problem for the Daario=Euron theory.
ashli moore Both have two eyes. We just never see Euron's dark eye under the patch. He's known to be using magic for faster sailing so he could have some magic helping him out with the eye color. Also his "dark eye" could simply be blue but just a story spread around.
Alt Shift X Euron is a pirate/sailor. Pirates and sailors wear eye patches not because they're missing an eye but to keep one eye acclimated to the dark at all times in case they need to go below deck.
If the theory about Euron being an apprentice of the 3 Eyed Crow is true, it could be possible that Euron does his favorite hobby of breaking every taboo imaginable by warging into Daario's body. He could essentially use him as a meat puppet. Seems like something Euron would do just for the fun of it. I'd be shocked to see him not do it when he could have a lot to gain.
Let's face it. When one man writes as many pages and as many characters as GrrM has there will be similarities in character appearance as well as attitudes and phrases shared. It's inevitable.
where u wanna be With the amount of times characters bite their tongue you could argue everyone is played by one character. (Seriously there is like 50 cases of people biting their tongue in the books)
Max Jedrziewski Yes there is. Everyone who ever trips bites their tongue resulting in a taste of blood. G.R.R.M. uses the same lines constantly throughout the series.
+Billdude21 Benjen is not a blood thirsty brigand, he is a stark a man of honor from a great family. I doubt very much that he would be willing to for go his honor to get what he wants.
Euron could be in the Iron Islands, and skinchanging into Daario. It’s easy to imagine him using some dark magic to wipe away Daario’s mind and use him as a personal agent on the other side of the world. We know that Daario is really good at falling asleep. When Euron is too busy to skinchange Daario, you know what could happen to a body without a mind? It’d fall asleep. I do think that Euron skinchanges into Daario to try and manipulate Dany.
Owen Spoors Well, the original actor for Daario was blonde. Every other Ironborn character on the show has brown/dark hair. I'd love for Daario to be Euron but I think that he's something else entirely.
Owen Spoors They recast him because the original actor went and did other projects. I mean, Yara sort of has blonde hair as well so maybe my point is sort of moot (no pun intended) but I prefer to think that Euron and Daario are more similar in nature than anything else. There are only so many different personality types in fiction so two characters are inevitably going to match at some point.
I LOVE this theory! It's the first thing I've seen that actually gives real purpose to Daario and to the Ironborn (other than just being a nuisance). Please please please do a Brienne video! What do you think she said as she was being hanged? What is she up to now that Stoneheart is letting her live?
- In ADWD, Daario stumbles in to Dany's bedchamber drunk and is described as having bruised blue lips. Dany thinks its from his fighting, but hes probably been sipping on warlock koolaid. - When the Iron Fleet takes the Shields, they do it by sailing super far into the west to take them by surprise. I think Euron might be sailing to slavers bay by going west instead of east to shave off some time; either that or hes cutting through the Smoking Sea. - The Kingsmoot was cut from season 5 but may happen in season 6. Showing Euron now would give away the surprise, but if they do it in season 6 (hopefully after TWOW release) it might make more sense.
"It's actually kind of possible." That was good bait to watch the rest of the video ;) As you said, the chronology simply does not match up. Magic ships or not, it's a hell of a long trip between the Iron Islands and Meereen and not nearly enough time passes between the respective appearances of Euron and Darrio. Also, the Meereenese navy in the show has the same number of ships as Victarion's Iron Fleet because they're cutting the Greyjoy uncles from the show. Thankfully, you conclude the theory is probably not true. But still... it's a silly crack theory. Fun to think about? Maybe, but there are cooler theories around :P
You are right. How long would the trip normally takes time beetween Meereen and the iron Islands? Months? Even if Euron would use blood magic, the ship of him would sink if he wants to be fast enough at Meereen to be Daario ._.
No, it's actually possible. Could you all stop using the timeline to bring down theories ? Seriously it's one of worst argument. George says himself that the timeline is not a straight nice line always going at the same " speed ". If we consider the timeline as a major argument, then R+L=J is not possible.
Well it appears that on the show at least Daario isn't Euron. Who knows if he will be in the books. Maybe they are switching it up a little and still having Daario be a deceitful man, but instead of having him really be Euron, they are going to have him be the leader of the Sons of the Harpy, er, Harpies, Herpies, WHAT the heck ever they are.
both works. I can imagine why this theory exists because only by doing it, the entire arc that Euron is confident in marrying Dany and getting dragon will make sense. For me, the travelling time is the biggest problem. It actually makes perfect sense for a guy like Euron to disguise himself with an alias.
Could fit nicely, considering the goal of Victarion in the books is to get with Dany. But I get the feeling that Yara/Asha has been combined with Victarion in the series. Could be wrong but she got built up a lot last episode so I think we'll see a lot more of her
I think they mirror each other for a certain future confrontation between Euron and Dany. But they are not one in the same. Dany’s Essos betrayal will be from the Tattered Prince and the Windblown.
STOP. Forget everything about those petty struggles for power between so-called kings and their subjects. Look out for those who are playing the real game: Littlefinger and Varys. They both represent ideals which are MILES apart, Littlefinger wanting everything for himself "even if it [the kingdom] becomes ash", Varys wanting something good "for the realm". Make a video about this, there's so much depth to go into when it comes to the Littlefinger vs Varys war.
Varys wants chaos and death as much a Littlefinger. Varys stands aside several times when people he claims to support are needing his help. (Tyrion and Ned etc) Varys is willing to kill competent leaders if it means he can cause chaos and help the person he supports, someone who isn't experienced in the ways of leadership or ruling. Varys is as power hungry as everyone else, he just acts like its for a good cause.
Joshua Hansen Well Varys wants to protect the children and he believes that he alone is able to accomplish that. Thus he needs a puppet ruler. Thus Aegon(Young Griff) because Daenerys is the puppet of none. Varys does not like independent rulers.
You my friend make the best videos of Game of Thrones out there! I see A LOT of these videos, very very well done, good voice and awesome sense of humor, you seem european by the way you tell jokes. Anyway, keep them coming, I will comment and like every one of them.
At 9:09 you said Daario doesn't believe in the gods. Daario says this in the books too But When Euron is at the kingsmoot in the iron islands, he says to Aeron "You serve one god, Damphair, but I have served ten thousand.". He says this when Aeron calls him godless. Coincidence? I think not!
You are amazing. This is one of the coolest theories and I've never heard it before. I love how thoroughly you explain all the theories and all the sited quotes from the books. Just amazing work.
I only somehow just discovered this channel, and being a big Song of ice and fire fan, am loving your stuff. Please do a video about Rickon Stark, where the hell is this kid? You hear next to nothing about him throughout the whole series. I'd love to know the theories floating around about him and where he's at.
Jesus Christ, Books=/=Show. Just compare the Dornish plot in both of them, or Jaime's storyline, or Sansa's. This theory is quite farfetched but it should not yet be dismissed.
I think Dorne failed in the TV show because the writers went into it without understanding the complete arc yet. When GRR martin gave the full outline it was too late already. Look at how Dorne starts. It's very accurate with CoK but then it starts to meander and moves way too far from what it was actually intended to be (the whole Mycelle marriage claim plot) so now the show is caught up with a really idiotic lose end they tried to wind back in again. Mostly by killing people.
The showrunners wanted to establish a connection with the viewers by placing established characters like Jaime and Bronn into Dorne. They justified it through Jaime's love of Cersei. This set back Jaime's character arc by miles. Since Ellaria is in favor of peace in the books, her role is small. Since she is the only living Dorne character we saw in ASOS, they replaced Arianne and Darkstar with her and turned Doran into Ellaria. I think that's fair, but they executed it terribly and without a hint of nuance and now they want to turn Ellaria into book Doran despite her coming off as a psycho kinslaying bitch. It is clear that they wanted to go their own way with S5 hence it being near completely divergent from the books. I think that's fine, but by the end of it they must have realised they fucked up badly and decided to cater to book readers by giving them AFFC plots one season too late, and then executing them in an incredibly anemic and half assed manner.
Show-watcher and spoiler-reader here, going through his first read of AFFC, so grain of salt disclaimer goes here. Just got past the Kingsmoot, which made me want to revisit this video. Felt compelled to don my tinfoil hat and take a stab at some of the loose ends. So the biggest counterpoints to DH=EG presented in the video are: 1) Even with some physical similarities, there are differences in appearance to account for, like Daario's beard/tooth/eyes. 2) Even if we accept blood magic assisted winds, slaver's bay is VERY far from the Iron Islands, and making the trip in the time allotted is dubious. Even if the timeline DID work, it's unlikely a ship as notorious as Silence would go unnoticed along the way. 3) Even if the timeline theoretically allows for absences from the POV characters, both Daario and Euron have other places they're purported to be with men who would notice their absence; Yunkai for Daario and The Reach for Euron respectively. Now, the first point is also the easiest to sidestep. The video puts forth a few plausible-if-unlikely suggestions for each dissimilarity, and given Euron's knowledge of Essos and penchant for the occult it's even plausible he'd have learned a thing or two from the Faceless Men. Plenty of reasonable doubt on this front. The second point is trickier. The furthest south Euron is expected to be is the Reach, and he'd likely have to get provisions multiple times on the way to Slaver's Bay, providing plenty of risk that he'd be noticed. What if he's not continuing south, though? There are numerous references to sailors longing to explore west of Westeros, and similarities between the Ironmen and Vikings make them a good historical parallel for trailblazing a western trail. What if in Euron's journeys, he discovered a route connecting the western coast of Westeros with the eastern of Essos? This would also explain his strong connection with Eastern Essos (he references Asshai frequently, and has taken to the Qarthene warlock traditions). If he knew a secret route to enter Essos from the east (the crew of the Silence ain't telling anyone), that would also explain his going unnoticed, since east of Slaver's Bay is the Red Waste, and less news would be likely from points east. The last point remains the murkiest, though. Even if you can make the timing work, that's a lot of folks that need to be kept in the dark that would notice their commander leaving for months at a time. What if, however, Daario and Euron aren't the same person, but working in league with one another? This way the list of traits they share could point to a similar ideology, rather than their being the same person. This would also account for many of the holes in Daario's character Mr. Shift-X points out: If he's out for number one, and Dany is a significant long-shot when he enters her service, it's plausible that his betrayal of his comrades is part of a longer play with Euron to instill trust in the young Queen. Not unlike how Jon's killing of the Half Hand endears him to Mance. Keep in mind that just as Euron's worldliness is expressed in the cultures of eastern Essos, Daarios are steeped in points west: The Dothraki, Myrrish, etc. Combine this with the western route, and Slaver's Bay becomes a place where they meet in the middle -- Euron mopping up the power vacuum Dany left in Qarth while Daario acts as his emissary in the west. Then, even if he does take the Iron fleet south, he could just as easily turn them west to form a surprise pincer in Yunkai, with Victarion on the west, Euron on the east, and maybe even Daario mounting some sort of offensive within the city. All parties could be planning to betray the others, and preceding events would still check out. Whatdya think?
If Euron and Darrio are different people but working together, you can also factor in that, among Euron's other mysterious treasures, he may have a glass candle
The travel logistics work out rather easily because the World of ice and fire is actually round. Instead of Euron having to Sail around Dorne, across the narrow sea through/around Valyria to reach the slaver's bay, he could just sail northwest from the Iron Islands and reach Slaver's bay much quicker. It would also explain how Euron reaches Dany the bay before Victarion and assumes the Daario personality.
I feel like the easiest solution for Daario’s motivations are either that he has been betraying her and just hasn’t been caught or that he’s betting that the Dragon Queen will be able to pull out a W.
What if he was skinchanging into daario's body. Original Daario could be leading the company, when euron is in the iron islands. And euron would skinchange into daario when he meets with dany. Daario could be a loyal subordinate of euron he periodically skinchanges into.
I prefer to imagine that Daario is actually Euron's bastard son- Euron is known to have fathered a fair few. Daario may not actually know this. That or he's actually a secret immortal and a parallel of Hastur, the King in Yellow.
I love the idea that Euron is the shit. Euron will ride a dragon. He has been Dario and he is trained in the same face stealing as Aria. He has had visions like Bran and maybe even met the Three-eyed Crow. Euron is the most badass character in Ice and Fire.
The thing with this, both Jorah and Certainly Selmy, would know him, dyed beard or not, the Ironborn are not exactly a small insignificant house. Not saying there is nothing in the theory, a lot of connections and some compelling evidence. The show writers may simply have merged the stories together as they have with a few other characters. If they are the same people then it's just another one of those things that will make little sense when it's actually thought about. Selmy was at the centre of just about every battle that happened in the seven kingdoms due to his position, he for sure would know a greyjoy, especially that one.
+jp fitzpatrick I've thought about it and looked it up: Euron Crow's Eye suggested the attack on the Lannister fleet but he himself was absent on the islands during the rebellion. When the whole fighting happened, he was missing. Nobody knows where he was.
jp fitzpatrick "known", correct, "known". Euron is infamous precisely because of his mental games. Maybe he is Daario, maybe he isn't, but the guy is a puzzle even after you've read all the books.
Actually no, this isnt the modern world with widely disseminated pictures and video, and Westeros is not a small country. Euron was banished from the Iron Islands before the Greyjoy Rebellion and the Ironborn generally have minimal social contact with the other kingdoms. Since his banishment he has spent most of his time in Essos. Realistically none of the non-Ironborn Westerosi nobles should know what he looks like. Would they know that Balon has a younger brother named Euron who was banished and became a feared pirate in Essos? Yes. Would they know him by sight, when he's wearing a disguise? Certainly not.
How in any sense will Euron's plans work if he isn't Daario? Like, there'd be no actual foundation for such plans if that was the case. The timeline stuff, if it turns out to be accurate, is so specific that it would have to have been on purpose. The only real problems presented are those of mercenaries questioning where their leader is (which would be easy to explain as if he is indeed Euron he's probably paying them, so why would they care where he is as long as the money comes in), and Euron's ship being noticed (which he could very likely dock somewhere else and simply use other ships). The problems barely do not outweigh the similarities.
redrich2000 Yeah, that was another one I thought of. They could be Ironborn and be in on the whole thing, and thus not question it, because they know what's going on.
One thing in the books that could point to Daario being Euron in disguise is how when Danaerys initially meets Daario, he is quiet, calm and thoughtful. But that night he comes to her, he tried to sneak into her camp, was captured by her soldiers with the heads of his two other captains, swaggering and boastful about how he wishes to serve her; being a massive contrast to how she first met him. Still totally believe this could be possible in the books, although the show seems to have forgotten it. Haha
I hate (really, I love it) how I watch these videos and see connections I never made myself. I've read the five main books, and watch the show, but these theories are just so damn deep.
Yeah, I don't buy it.... I just finished the books, and while Daario is a hostage, it is stated multiple times that Euron is still raiding the shores of the reach. Also, in Victarion's chapters, initially he had 93 ships, but by the time he gets closer to Meereen, his fleet has diminished to just over 50 ships, although he has captured a few more on his travels. I agree that Daario is a Killer, but he comes across as more flamboyant and almost playful (in a deadly way), compared to Euron. Tbh, I think Victarion is an underrated character, complete baddass with a complicated past. One more thing, when Winds of Winter finally releases, shits gonna hit the fan! So much going on!
this theory is the most far fetched and forced theory I've heard... there is no way daario = euron... starting by the fact that daario shared command of the stormcrows with the two other captains he killed... you don't get to be a captain of a free company over night... Daario likely had been with the stormcrows for years... probably even before Dany had learned to walk... and we know that Euron had been sailing around the world during those years as well... so no way they are the same person.
I thought this was the stupidest theory when I started.... but the 93 ships and the Daario's "stormcrows" alluding to Euron crows eye are really awesome. They're obviously not the same character but for all we know they could link to one another. Cool
As far as the show goes, this theory can now be debunked. - SMALL SPOILER - Michiel Huisman (Daario) hasn't been recast and will be returning in season 6. Where as Euron has been cast by danish actor Pilou Asbæk.
+Warpig of The Power Doesn't that mean that Darrio couldn't be cast because he will now be in the Iron Islands as Euron. If he had been recast and appeared at the same time as Euro, now THAT would debunk the theory. The fact that they never appear at the same time is more evidence that they are the same person.
Isaac Collinson I know, but they haven't for the 6th season. It's still Michiel Huisman. So as far as the 6th season goes, the only possibility of Daario=Euron, is if Euron is a faceless man who can change to the face of Daario
i personally love this theory, and therefore am clinging to the hope that he has Faceless Man-esque shifting abilities to explain why he looks different when hes at the Iron Islands
this theory is the most far fetched and forced theory I've heard... there is no way daario = euron... starting by the fact that daario shared command of the stormcrows with the two other captains he killed... you don't get to be a captain of a free company over night... The news about the season 6 casting strongly suggests that there's gonna be a new Euron: " Pirate: “Man in his 40s to late 50s. He’s ‘an infamous pirate who has terrorized seas all around the world. Cunning, ruthless, with a touch of madness.’ He’s a dangerous-looking man. A very good part this season.” " So Daario != Euron Oh and I don't know what's that weird background noise around 13:34 but it really scared me, it' 3 am and i'm sitting with my headphones on in absolute silence
Mr. G. Ruff Isn't Victarion also a pirate who plundered half the world as captain of the iron fleet and is also considered mad (not as mad as Euron, but still)? I think the new cast role could be a Victarion/Damphair-mashup since the story definitivly needs a counterpart to Euron to make the whole Ironborn story work.
hell, we've got glamours and shit going on- faceless blokes & mance. It's possible that Euron is doing some of that. On to the idea that Victarion is the one being cast, I think 'cunning' suggests otherwise.
I just recently stumbled across all these videos and find them wonderful to watch. Great work! Personally I wonder if Daario can't be Euron's bastard son since they are so similar. It wouldn't surprise me if both of them want Daenarys and her dragons to then betray the other even if that was the case.
I love how crazy this is but when you broke it down more it seems so plausible, would be a very cool reveal and I guess wouldn’t be as shocking as it may have been before I watched this 6 years ago
unematrix Having Lady killed out of pure spite? uh incest? Having husband killed? Framing Margeary? Sending one of the Stokeworths to be tortured and experimented on by Qyburn? Just a couple I could think of off the top of my head.
David F She didnt kill lady of pure spite! She actually wanted to defend her children! it was Joffrey fault and maybe Sansa but Joffrey was the liar, incest ok, husband killed ok but he was an ass with her, framing Margeary remember that when you play the game of thrones you win or you die, there is no middle ground, Stokeworths okay that was mean but daaaaam they were such an idios like REALLY stupid, maybe the stupidest move in whole aSoIaF series along with Lancel maybe i dont know still that was harsh.
The hound is actually Nymeria, Aryas direwolf, explains why he loves eating chickens. Because foxes love to eat chickens and fox is kinda like a wolf! I should start my own GOT theory channel..
Actually, the sellswords would be easy to sway. As Euron has obviously become rich through his piracy, all he needs to do to keep the Stormcrows quiet would be to throw some of his loot at them

Alt Shift X You mean “this Daario video instead”?
Yeah, you must have done this original video before the release of The Forsaken, didn't you?
@Alt Shift X
I really like this video because your explanation would have made good sense if GRRM hasn't released those chapters that will clearly contrast the theory. More specifically, the one that "why is Euron confident that he will win Dany and Dragon"
@@lluewhyn Yeah, The Forsaken was released in 2016.

+callycap3 I wish I could do 100 thumbs up for your comment. Yes, they LOVE trolling the books readers. Constantly....

Hmmmmm , quite interesting
I'm not a book reader, but maybe this could explain why he is so blood thirsty to the point that his ship is drenched in blood and his crewmen's tongue's are cut to keep this very secret, in return for royalty and gold. I dunno. But I am so down with this theory.

Even better:
Euron is alluded to be connected to the Three Eyed Crow so what if he’s warging Daario and that’s how he’s doing this?
Like Euron learns of how to woo Dany, has a mercenary company in addition to his own Ironborn and is just generally in a solid position.
@@ItsButterBean1020 In my opinion, both of these theories seem more likely than them being just the same person. Either way, it would be really cool if there was some connection between the two - like, imagine Daario supporting Daenerys in burning them all not because he's some random bad boy, but because he has a hidden agenda, based on his connection to the scariest, most evil motherfucker in Westeros.

"There's a semi-popular theory that Euron is actually Daario (E=D). While there have been compelling cases made for this theory, I believe that I have debunked it.
Let's go back to what we know about each character.
When Dany meets Daario she notices his flamboyant Tyroshi style:
Daario Naharis was flamboyant even for a Tyroshi.
"Shade-of-the-evening, the wine of the warlocks."
So we know that Euron is drinking shade-of-the evening, which is connected with the Pyat Pree and the warlocks. Where do the warlocks live? The House of the Undying.
Un-dying.
Now how could Euron -- who we know has a connection to the un-dying ones -- also be Daario who actively participates in dyeing?

In the show, not that it determines what is the case for the books, they have now shown Euron showing back up at the Iron Island while Dahrio is still searching for Daneryres with Jorah.
So, at least in the show, this theory is debunked right?
+Matt Theriot yeah I believe so
After episode six, Daario estimates needing a "thousand ships" to transport Dany's Khalessar to Westeros. This echoes Euron's order (episode five, I believe) to chop down every tree on the Iron Islands to build a new fleet after he saw Yarra & Theon sail away with the existing one.

James Van Oss
I'm pretty sure it's Euron, though I wouldn't be surprised if they merge the two characters to some extent.
BenRangel Well, it was confirmed for season 6 of the tv show that the Greyjoys will have a much bigger role to play next season, so no worries
They're clearly different people in the show
Yeah a lot of things point to that, but then this 1000 ships thing and the 93 ships thing that he mentioned in this video.. Can't just be coincidence, can it? These references were intentional imo
the most possible way is that euron and daario are working together
+SilentAssasinLOL or maybe a rogue faceless man, which could explain the different faces
Ok , I'm confused..doesn't Daario have both eyes, where Euron has one? 👀
ashli moore Euron has two eyes - his "smiling eye" (The Iron Captain, AFFC) and a "black eye shining with malice" beneath his eye patch (Theon I, TWOW). The fact that one of Euron's eyes is apparently black is kind of a problem for the Daario=Euron theory.
Alt Shift X it could be Theon's misremembering. Not Victarion nor Aeron mentioned exactly that he has a black eye.
Alt Shift X well i m sure he can have some kind of lens... plus his lips are blue that would be why he covers them with blue beard
ashli moore Both have two eyes.
Oh, Alt Shift X...you convince me of the craziest things.

Interesting.. could be also why they didn't do the iron borns in the tv show yet! ..cause that would spoil everything.
And they made the Daario actor very plain and boring, more like Euron than book Daario...
Owen Spoors Well, the original actor for Daario was blonde. Every other Ironborn character on the show has brown/dark hair.

Maybe that's why they recast him *wink wink*
My thoughts exactly!
>"Even his beard wears false colors." - Jorah
>Blue dyed beard
Holy shit dude you missed the biggest hint
He didn't miss that.
He just trust his audience to understand what Jorah isnt just critizizing daario.
Joe Hales He usually spells things out when he explains stuff, not his style to let us piece it together.
Alt Shift X: completely convinces me of this theory
Also Alt Shift X: eh, it's probably nothing
He actually said the chronology does in fact match up. But that it would be hard to keep it a secret from the other Stormcrows
You are right.
How long would the trip normally takes time beetween Meereen and the iron Islands?
Months? Even if Euron would use blood magic, the ship of him would sink if he wants to be fast enough at Meereen to be Daario ._.
Not just good bait... Gr8 b8 m8 I r8 8/8 pls no h8
angel55558
It only matches up if he has magic that can control the wind and always sail at top speed.
***** * GASP *
Knowing D&D, Euron could turn out to be a faceless man pretending to be Daario.
Nothing happens with Dario in the show. He’s just sort of “forgotten” like every other major plot line by the effing writers
>9 years old video
>Discusses the newest book
IT'S SO OVER BOYS.
Shoutout to half the fun theories going down the drain and the prophecies never panning out.
Well this is mostly a book theory, there is nothing in the show that matches this even by a little.
These were never for the show lmao
Can you do video about patchface?
they just did
3 YEARS TOO LATE! hahaha
8:40 It's-a me Daario lmfao I'm dead
both works. I can imagine why this theory exists because only by doing it, the entire arc that Euron is confident in marrying Dany and getting dragon will make sense.
For me, the travelling time is the biggest problem. It actually makes perfect sense for a guy like Euron to disguise himself with an alias.
With the new season 6 trailer out with Euron making his debut so maybe Daario is Victarion?
Could fit nicely, considering the goal of Victarion in the books is to get with Dany. But I get the feeling that Yara/Asha has been combined with Victarion in the series. Could be wrong but she got built up a lot last episode so I think we'll see a lot more of her
I think they mirror each other for a certain future confrontation between Euron and Dany. But they are not one in the same.
Dany’s Essos betrayal will be from the Tattered Prince and the Windblown.
STOP. Forget everything about those petty struggles for power between so-called kings and their subjects. Look out for those who are playing the real game:
Littlefinger and Varys.
Matthew Williams In the end we will discover that all these game masters are secretely manouvred by the Other without they even know that.
Matthew Williams Hope so because the "white walkers's apocalypse" seems to disappear chapter after chapter, considering that only 2 books are left.
no more like stannis, the game called life or death
You my friend make the best videos of Game of Thrones out there! I see A LOT of these videos, very very well done, good voice and awesome sense of humor, you seem european by the way you tell jokes. Anyway, keep them coming, I will comment and like every one of them.
At 9:09 you said Daario doesn't believe in the gods. Daario says this in the books too
But When Euron is at the kingsmoot in the iron islands, he says to Aeron "You serve one god, Damphair, but I have served ten thousand.". He says this when Aeron calls him godless.
Coincidence? I think not!
You are amazing. This is one of the coolest theories and I've never heard it before. I love how thoroughly you explain all the theories and all the sited quotes from the books. Just amazing work.
After watching the show you need to update this theory, with his lightspeed ship travel he could easily be Daario.
This video essay is over 7 years old and still GRRM isn't close to finishing TWOW
I only somehow just discovered this channel, and being a big Song of ice and fire fan, am loving your stuff. Please do a video about Rickon Stark, where the hell is this kid? You hear next to nothing about him throughout the whole series. I'd love to know the theories floating around about him and where he's at.
nelson kaboots he’s at Skagos riding unicorns warging into shaggy and eatong some people
So good ! Northern Conspiracy next please .
So the biggest counterpoints to DH=EG presented in the video are:
1) Even with some physical similarities, there are differences in appearance to account for, like Daario's beard/tooth/eyes.
If Euron and Darrio are different people but working together, you can also factor in that, among Euron's other mysterious treasures, he may have a glass candle
hearing this theory makes me think that Daario might actually be working for Euron
Pyat Pree? You know there is a town near Chernobyl called Pripyat.
It`s probably a coincidence but....
Magic is science confirmed
best level from cod4
The travel logistics work out rather easily because the World of ice and fire is actually round. Instead of Euron having to Sail around Dorne, across the narrow sea through/around Valyria to reach the slaver's bay, he could just sail northwest from the Iron Islands and reach Slaver's bay much quicker. It would also explain how Euron reaches Dany the bay before Victarion and assumes the Daario personality.
got earth is not round, Grrm is flat earther
This is my favorite theory ever, the show has fucked it but the books may still deliver
The great thing about ASOIAF is that the dumber the theory, the funner it is to discuss.
6:34 either the creators are fucking with us.
Oh they were. They were fucking with us alright
As implausible as it is, the sample chapters definitely disprove this
The thing with this, both Jorah and Certainly Selmy, would know him, dyed beard or not, the Ironborn are not exactly a small insignificant house.
+jp fitzpatrick Was thinking the same exact thing
+jp fitzpatrick I've thought about it and looked it up: Euron Crow's Eye suggested the attack on the Lannister fleet but he himself was absent on the islands during the rebellion. When the whole fighting happened, he was missing. Nobody knows where he was.
+Dr Wolfenstein The nobles of westeros can name everyones house, sigil, family etc, they are all "known" entities.
jp fitzpatrick
"known", correct, "known".
Kane Taylor Or the stormcrows are Iron Born as well; or are otherwise loyal to Euron and in on the plan.
redrich2000 Yeah, that was another one I thought of. They could be Ironborn and be in on the whole thing, and thus not question it, because they know what's going on.
Too much connections to not be on purpose
Daario is the perfect precursor in Danys' life to explain why she might feel a pull to Euron when they meet later.
This is similar to how Ygritte functions in Jon's story now that he is dealing with Val and Melisandra.
Euron is really a merman. Him and Varys knew each other when they were young and Euron is the sorcerer who cut Varys.
Hey, it's a me, Daario
What if Daario’s blue beard is to hide Euron’s blue lips?
I guess this is no longer possible since Euron just showed up in the latest episode.
+BrewHog Yeah all his theories are getting debunked one by one with each episode lol
+Potpourri They aren't really his theories. And he even says this theory is probably not realistic.
This could still be the case even in the show. I don't think so but with Eurons connections to the facelfaceless its possible.
His theories are in reference to the story in the books, not in the show. They're two different stories at this point.
Show? Arnt these books. Im sure there books
Also, in
Victarion's chapters, initially he had 93 ships, but by the time he gets closer to Meereen, his fleet has diminished to just over 50 ships, although he has captured a few more on his travels.
I thought this was ridiculous at first...but now I am more than convinced
I thought this was the stupidest theory when I started.... but the 93 ships and the Daario's "stormcrows" alluding to Euron crows eye are really awesome. They're obviously not the same character but for all we know they could link to one another. Cool
this guy knows how to find and lay out information in a very straight forward way
I love these videos. They're the best, most informative GoT theory videos on RUclips.
Gendry ran 700 miles in one night. Cause his arm is strong.
As far as the show goes, this theory can now be debunked. - SMALL SPOILER - Michiel Huisman (Daario) hasn't been recast and will be returning in season 6. Where as Euron has been cast by danish actor Pilou Asbæk.
+Warpig of The Power The mountain has been played by 3 actors, and daario by two, so I wouldnt say its debunked purely off of that
+Warpig of The Power Doesn't that mean that Darrio couldn't be cast because he will now be in the Iron Islands as Euron. If he had been recast and appeared at the same time as Euro, now THAT would debunk the theory. The fact that they never appear at the same time is more evidence that they are the same person.
***** So Daario/Euron can change his face like a faceless man? Because Pilou Asbæk (Euron) and Michiel Huisman (Daario) look nothing alike
+Warpig of The Power Again, theyve already recast daario before
Isaac Collinson I know, but they haven't for the 6th season. It's still Michiel Huisman. So as far as the 6th season goes, the only possibility of Daario=Euron, is if Euron is a faceless man who can change to the face of Daario
"It's-a me, a-Daario!" Just... perfection. Absolute perfection.
this theory is crazy keep up the awesome work
Right when things are getting good we don't get a book for 12 yrs
i personally love this theory, and therefore am clinging to the hope that he has Faceless Man-esque shifting abilities to explain why he looks different when hes at the Iron Islands
this theory is the most far fetched and forced theory I've heard... there is no way daario = euron... starting by the fact that daario shared command of the stormcrows with the two other captains he killed... you don't get to be a captain of a free company over night... Daario likely had been with the stormcrows for years... probably even before Dany had learned to walk... and we know that Euron had been sailing around the world during those years as well... so no way they are the same person.
A very good part this season.” " So Daario != Euron
Oh and I don't know what's that weird background noise around 13:34 but it really scared me, it' 3 am and i'm sitting with my headphones on in absolute silence
Mr. G. Ruff The noise is from a bird that was cawing while I was recording. It might have been a crow...
Mr. G. Ruff To be fair to the theorists, the show has diverged from the book almost entirely, and is doing it's own thing at this point.
Mr.
Well the Show casted Euron...and Daario is on his horse trip with Jorah. I really hoped Daario would be Euron.
if it were to be true it'd be incredibly stupid and incredibly smart.
Truthfully i like what they are doing with Daario in the show
+Badjoke Maker Euron two eye's. FUCK!
a finger in the bum
I just recently stumbled across all these videos and find them wonderful to watch. Great work! Personally I wonder if Daario can't be Euron's bastard son since they are so similar. It wouldn't surprise me if both of them want Daenarys and her dragons to then betray the other even if that was the case.
I love how crazy this is but when you broke it down more it seems so plausible, would be a very cool reveal and I guess wouldn’t be as shocking as it may have been before I watched this 6 years ago
Why is Cersei in the middle at 15:18? She clearly belongs on the right, with Gregor and Joffrey.
why?
David F why is she evil?
unematrix Having Lady killed out of pure spite? uh incest? Having husband killed? Framing Margeary? Sending one of the Stokeworths to be tortured and experimented on by Qyburn?
Just a couple I could think of off the top of my head.
David F
She didnt kill lady of pure spite!
Gregor, Ramsay and Joff kill for shits and giggles. Cersei at least deludes herself into thinking she's protecting herself and her family.
I really hope this is true in the books.
The hound is actually Nymeria, Aryas direwolf, explains why he loves eating chickens. Because foxes love to eat chickens and fox is kinda like a wolf! I should start my own GOT theory channel..
I've heard 37 less likely theories this week alone.
Actually, the sellswords would be easy to sway. As Euron has obviously become rich through his piracy, all he needs to do to keep the Stormcrows quiet would be to throw some of his loot at them
Fantastic analysis! Also, I snorted loud enough to disturb my dogs @8:40... it's a me! lol. Good stuff. Thanks for the upload!
