Pinky and ring finger are the most important part of your grip for a bushcraft knife. I have nerve damage and neck disc buldge so I am very sensitive to this issue. I now make my handles thicker in the back with less contour. IT really helps your forearms from wearing out plus making power cuts like taking of lots of wood is way easier. Your video is right on the spot 👍
Helle Knives - There are no shortcuts to perfection- video from 11 years ago- is the recommended video to this one for me.. Amazing content as always sir. Thank you. Now I have to rethink my grip again.
Always a pleasure to partake in your knowledge. And I cannot refute the wisdom in 10 feather sticks. I to use that concept. I would rather spend 15 extra minutes in preparation. As opposed to 120 minutes of hard work for a flame. Such speed you have in feather sticking. Work smarter. Not harder. PS. Thank you so much for your videos. You are the one that introduced me to silky saws. Third best investment ever. One day. I hope to obtain the level of knowledge in which you freely give.
Developed a love of outdoors from a video I watched of yours several years ago. I've got my fiance into watching your outdoor videos now as well! Thank you, sir.
Good to see you back. You could also try a different approach to feathering, holding the blade fixed(wrist locked) and pulling on the piece of wood. You will get excellent results. Love your videos. Respect!
Still envious of your Enzo Nordic high ground knife...so much so I’ve on my third attempt of making it...this time in Elmax. Been a joy watching your progression over the years. Cheers...here’s to many more years...
Another great video. I'd like to know what knife would you take if you could only choose one. Which one does gutting, skinning, feather sticking etc sufficiently to be chosen as an all around knife? Thank you.
Thank you for the video. I was looking to get a knife for bush craft and firemaking support. The Fossekallen does look great. I ordered one for $120 off amazon in the US.
interesting was trying to decide earlier today between a Fosse or the Eggen. Havent tried any of the Helles yet, they seem like a nice option. The handles look very slightly different in photos, but its kind of hard to tell. Would really like to get my hands on them before deciding. Im really not much of a scandi guy, im all about the convex, but would like to give one a try. The Scandiwegians i think are correct in not narrowing the area where the pinky grips too much, on a vast majority of their designs.
@@dc1939 Have you used both? Their site lists the Fosse as having a slightly longer handle, though the description says its for small to medium hands Not sure how the Eggen is for larger hands, being basically the same shape, and shorter. Is the larger in circumference or something?
Would be so honored to meet and learn from you next time we visit the mother in law in Japan. Although I understand the chances of that is pretty much zero. Either way thanks for all your videos. They are always interesting and instructive.
I thought of you yesterday when I saw Big Brown Bear's video on his new Maxomet Hunter/skinner knife. I wondered how you would react to the geometry and steel.
i agree with the discomfort on the handles you did not care fore, i have same situation, I still have not found a knife i am 100 percent happy with handle
Very surprised this guy doesn't go custom, knife makers like Dulo knives will do a full custom to your spec & in whatever steel you want for less than a bark river knife. & custom makers seem to do a much better heat treat. I have a puukko coming from dulo in vanadis 4E at 63hrc with solid carbon fiber handle & brass bolsters & a very nice leather sheath. It only cost me £197 my bark river aurora in 3V cost £250. Around a 6 month wait but worth it, people seriously need to start going custom. Production knife companies are overcharging & producing inferior products.
Doctor!!! So happy to see a new video!!!
Thank you Wako, we all
Missed you. You are one of the originals. Be safe

Thank you for explaining why some handle shapes make arm tired when feather sticking. Please continue to post videos.
Hi Doc, welcome back. I was thrilled to see a new video from you. "Hello knife people". Hope you and your family are doing well.

Thank you Wako. Great advice.
Always wonderful to see a new video, Doc!
That’s a very helpful and informative video. These are insights that help people to know what to look for when choosing a knife.
Excellent video content, great theme! Love your socks, am glad I am not the only one wearing Teva's like this. Thumbs up.

Choose between the two based on your hand size.

Hey doc! You should try LT Wright knives...I am sure that you will be suprised by the result!
I have a helle harding that I love
Glad your back
This explains why my right arm is always tiered.
So good to see someone that works with their anatomy. Good knives all.
For bushcrafting, I prefer the Mora knives. The mora classic # 2 has the perfect blade thickness and carves like nobody's business.
Woohoo! Stoked to see you plume and preen your feathers 😜
We missed ya!
nice to see you again:-)
Great video! I’m always glad to see a new video from you.
Shows how important a good handle is. Any chance for an updated collection video sometime?
Wako hopefully you were able to get a DBK knife to test out!
We will 100% send him one :)
@@DutchBushcraftKnives YES!!! I know you guys can't wait to see him use/review it too! Once he says, "It's a great knife." only then will it be so. :)
Missing you. Hope your family is well.
Great to see you and another video sir!
