I used this 30+ years ago as a boy scout for everything. Rope, wood, gutting fish. It's great. Love it. Also, its wood all around since metal and winter is not good at all.
I have the one I bought my father 20+ years ago. It won a Norwegian Classic Design award. It’s design harkens back to fisherman’s work knives where you need a firm grip even though your hands are cold and wet. If you have hand issues like I do it is so very useful.
The Nying is my favourite wood carving knife - slim, pointy and easy controlable blade. the handle's edge is however a little sharp, so I have rounded it a tad to not get sore in my palm. But it's an absolutely beautiful knife, and one of my favourite allrounder too - always with me in the forests.
Helle got it's start in 1932, this knife was designed in 1977, and it is a smaller take on the tollekniv if i'm not mistaken, . and the designe on the sheath is called a selbu rose. that is what i got from their website
That’s a lovely knife! Since you mentioned it, I would only prefer my exact Eldris to this, simply because I was able to get one that had been rehandled in hickory and sheathed in leather! Someone inherited it from a family member and sold it to me for less than the list price of the basic plastic. Treasure forever!
Just have to sew my leather tee shirt and buy some lederhosen and I'm ready to EDC Nying! I wanted Eldris a long time, but I'm happy Nying is coming today! Cheers!
its too cold for lederhosen in scandinavia! PS. no one buys mora in scandinavia! its just too cheap and its the knife that was in all fishing boxes all my life! mora knives belongs in fishing boxes that havent been used for a decade! thats the only place you find a mora in my country! its foken garbage! ALL their knives are garbage!
Helle do a nice polish. Surprisingly inexpensive, but beautiful and tough users. You won’t be battoning with it, so the tang doesn’t matter, but it’s almost certainly tough enough for anything you’d want. I look at this and think of the Mora Eldris in a posh frock! Ah, you got there too!

Wonderful choice! I just love the ergos and history. Perhaps I should try to carve with it...

A Mora Eldris is a good knife. But to me, I prefer a classic, wooden handle. Thus I went with this one. Loving it so far! 👍
Great video. Thank you. Is the inner core carbon? I'm looking for a knife that has carbon.
The center is carbon.
@@TheStreamingEnderman thank you.
No, it isn't. It's stainless laminate, including the core.
It’s made for small game
And carving, fishing, everything small tasks. Mine is from 1987, got it when I was a scout and used it for many years for all those tasks.
