You mean the two nations that _started_ the Korean War and dragged other countries into it?
The "Korean" War was an extremely brutal proxy war between the Soviets and the Americans on Korean grounds with Korean pawns. Americans were one of the two instigators, not the heroic saviors they're (falsely but successfully) portraying themselves to be.
      (I'm Korean btw.)

There are always Southeast Asians who pretend to be Koreans in Korea-related videos.
The Thais sent more troops than the Philippines during the Korean War and there were many deaths.
But the Thais do not say they helped Korea like the Philippines.
Especially to the Philippines, Korea provides more than $100 million in aid every year.
But the Filipinos always whine that they helped in the Korean War. 😅😅

Some westerners may not be aware that the same towel is not generally used to dry both your feet and face and then reused. This is why the towels are smaller than what they are used to. Using two towels is common. Plus, they are easier to launder after use.

19:13 Some people in the comments are saying that Zane ordered Pyŏngyang Cold Noodles (펴양냉면). Pyŏngyang is the capital of North Korea. But on the menu, Zane clearly chose Seoul Cold Noodles (서울냉면). I did not see Pyŏngyang on the menu.
On a side note, Pyŏngyang cold noodles are probably the most famous NK dish in SK. Only a few restaurants know how to make it correctly, which is why it's not normally found in restaurants. I dont think it's a favorite among South Koreans because it's quite bland.

    Korean soul food (I'am Korean)
    1. Grilled Pork belly with grilled Kimchi
some restaurants use sottukkeong(Korean traditional pot's cover) to grill Pork belly and Kimchi with pork's fat.
My faborite combination is the piece of 삼겹살(pork belly) with grilled kimchi. These combination has synergy with each other.
when you search, copy and paste 솥뚜껑 삼겹살 맛집. If there is no sottukkeong pork belly restaurant, try the franchise pork restaurant 하남돼지집 that also grills kimchi for you.
    2. Cheese Dakgalbi (Marinated chiken dish with cheese toppings)
Chuncheon is famous for the originality of these food but Dakgalbi restaurant is in everywhere in korea. Don't forget to add cheese topping and after meal fried rice on the grill that you ate Dakgalbi! when you search, copy and paste 닭갈비 맛집.
    3. GUK-BAP (국밥)
That means korean traditional way of eating. Rice and Soup. There are many kind of GUK-BAP in korea. GUK-BAP with pork (famous in busan), beef, ...etc.
when you search copy and paste 돼지국밥 맛집or 소고기해장국 맛집or 삼계탕 맛집or 콩나물국밥 맛집or 양평해장국 맛집
    4. JJIgae (찌개)
That means korean soul soup. Famous one is KIMCHI-JJIgae which mainly uses kimchi, and the other is Soy bean JJIgae which could be the main dish, but also a side dish when you eat pork belly bbq. when you search, copy and paste 김치찌개 for kimchi-jjigae, 된장찌개 for soy bean jjigae or 순두부찌개 for tofu jjigae or 차돌된장찌개 or 등갈비김치찌개
    5. JJIM (찜)
JJIM is somewhat similar to JJIgae but it has less soup in it. It uses special machine to use pressure (sometimes) to cook the dish using kimchi or fish or beef or pork or etc.
when you search copy and paste 김치찜 맛집 for Kimchi-JJIM, 아구찜 맛집 or 생선찜 맛집 or 동태찜 맛집 for fish-JJIM 맛집and 갈비찜 맛집for meat with soy sauce.
    6. CHIKEN AND BEER AND RAMYEON at Han-river at NIGHT
This is special experience in seoul. The view at Han-river at Night is so good that even seoul citizens occationally go there.
    7. Sot-bap with fish
Sot-bap is the rice that is only cook for you with special cooking machine that uses pressure to make a good rice. With rice, there are may side dishes that is given when you order sot-bap. Usually main side dishes are grilled fish or tteok-galbi which made with beef.
when you search copy and paste 솥밥맛집.
    8. Tang
Tang is also a soup dish, but the difference is it is still cooked when you eat dish as the meat makes deeper flavor to tang.
when you seach copy and paste 감자탕 맛집
    9. Korean street food (kimbap, tteokbokki)
Tteokbokki which is truely sould food for kids as well as adults. It is korean tteok that is made with rice or flour and marinated with hot spicy sauce(not too hot. If there has the chilly looking franchise tteokbokki restaurant don't try that.) It is some what spicy and sweet sauce that is with teok and fish cake and some fried dishes to dip on that sauce. Kimbap is now somewhat famous in us that is a korean roll. Typically we eat kimbap with tteokbokki.
when you search copy and paste 분식 맛집 or 떡볶이 맛집 or 즉석떡볶이 맛집 or 김밥 맛집
    10. Hardcore try
if you search restaurants with these keyword, they are somewhat hardcore that even some koreans don't eat some cases. But most of those are very popular foods.
when you search, copy and paste 회 맛집 (raw fish) or 곱창 맛집 (beef or pig grilled viscera) or 선지해장국 맛집 (blood soup) or 내장탕 맛집 (viscera soup)
    My english is bad.

Great video. Just a comment though I've noticed with foreigners who are either staying or visiting South Korea. I don't understand this "loneliness" aspect of being in a foreign land. I mean isn't that obvious? Why would anyone go to a foreign land and think they are going to have instant friends or people catering to them? I mean I would think it'd be worse if you were an asian person and go to a European country; meaning that asian person will feel even MORE isolated? Sounds normal to me that loneliness is just a natural detraction of foreign travel, especially if you are going to a foreign land long term.

Unless it's a four-star hotel or higher, it's better not to expect it. East Asians have relatively less hair and body odor, so we need your understanding because we have a culture of wiping away water quickly, and we also have a culture of using and washing towels only once

I'm sure others have said all this before, but just some tips for Korean pronunciation from someone who is still very much so learning, himself:
    1. Anytime you see "eo" together (such as "seogyo"), pronounce it like "uh". For instance, Incheon is "In-chun".
    2. "Si" is pronounced as "she"; still not sure whose idea it was to not write the "H". E.g., "dosi" is "doh-she"
    3. Any stand alone "O" is a long vowel, i.e., pronounce it like "oh"
    4. It takes some mindfulness/practice from us native English speakers, but any "y+vowel" should be "slid" together, said as one sound. I.e., not "ee-oh", but "yo"
Korean pronunciation is a lot like French in my brain: you often don't say the letters as you'd think just based on how they're written. Thanks for the great videos!
