We have always put potatoes! And as for the raisins, that honestly depends on the Cuban family you speak to. Lol. Our family recipe doesn't include raisins, but other families prefer to have them in there. We usually serve ours with platanitos maduros for that sweet addition on the side!

If you’re going to use fresh onions, sauté them first with some oil. Abuela just uses onion powder most of the time for this recipe because she prefers for the onion chunks not to get in the way of the meat :)
Grandma is cute. I hate using more dishes too. Not always successful. Lol. I like the pieces in it if tiny or small etc. It depends, but I use powder, cuz I don't always have the chance to buy, keep onion, bell peppers fresh or buy, or cut. Oh I forgot about the fried potatos in it. Yum. I need to try this. Too late cuz took down Trader Joe's ground beef & have no potatoes. I never knew of you till today. Glad I found you. Finally more of my Cuban paisnos. i had no headsets on so not clear what grandpa said at all. All i heard was ground beef. Speak up next time. Lol. Maybe the headset will help, but I doubt it. The only bad thing is the cheap type of ground beef. She has a different way on slow. I wonder if I can use frozen potatoes. I air crisp fry it better in my Ninja Grill. I don't like the raisins, so this seems better. I will try that other persons way or add it to your way, if not like it then add the raisins. Ordering Amazon, cuz not going to store. It has gotten worse for me since covid, not gone out, cooked much as should have, starved a few says in between depressed, so like still have meat packs I need to go through, not even had milk, omg, surviving on juice whayever not had my cereals, shakes, smoothies, not Trader Joe's again meat packs, etc. I wish I could, bit hard & stressful. I hope to be able to go back again soon. I don't have that type of it nor buying or spending more them I have right now, so maybe my electric fry pan can find the lid it may work. Anyhow, you guys are so mice, cute, funny, sweet & I prefer her way of making it. I just don't have that pot, but I will try in my electric fry pan with lid will help. Idk, maybe should try other way. I see the tostones is on play list, plus yucca. I need to check that for when I want to make it on Christmas Holidays. Man in my order forgot the tostones green bananas. I will need other stuff whole foods does not deliver free or take stamps online only Amazon. I don't like pepper. I will have to use the green peeper & onion. I got that in order. Omg the cure doggy. Just noticed him finally. I guess I should leave it for other time, but I don't have dry wine only cooking wine. My godfather uses Edmundo cooking wine. I like to use sherry not cooking sherry, But I have used it. I always fry the veggies first the pepper onion and garlic. I also use the brine of the olives so I don’t have to use too much salt. I’m very sure Su abuela picadillo es muy delicioso. I’ll never argue with a grandmother and her recipe. I’m just saying how I do mine and how I’ve had it. And I like how your grandmother uses dry seasonings. It’s fast easy and gets the job done.

When do you put the onions in? I never saw her do it.
