Pepa's power is such a good metaphor for anxiety. It's never something she can truly get rid of; all she can do is learn to live with it and develop healthy coping mechanisms.

I absolutely cannot get over subtly awful Abuela's treatment of Pepa is. Her powers are tied to her emotions, and yet Abuela is constantly demanding that she have completely control over her power at all times. Abuela really went "my daughter having emotions beyond my ability to control is inconvenient *for me* and that's what I'm going to focus on" and not nearly enough screentime is devoted to pointing out how f*cked up that is.
@jf k Yeah but she makes it out like she can never be upset because it'll ruin everyone else's day. It's good to feel sad once in a while, it's good to feel mad, holding in bad emotions is worse for your emotional state. Being told you can't do either of those things because you might make it rain ontop of everyone else likely sucks.
It's one of those subtle things that builds up through the movie. They mostly spotlighted how Isabella and Louise were affected, but looking carefully she's really affecting everyone.
Yeah that's the point of the movie lmaoo Abuela was also unfair to Bruno, Isabella, Luisa, and Mirabel The point was that Abuela wanted everyone and everything to be perfect, but in the end of the movie, she realized not everything can be Edit: Luisa
Yesss! She can’t show any other emotions except for happiness! Also Dolores’s gift is horrible. The world is surely too loud for her. Never a moment of silence or peace for her. There’s a scene where there are fireworks and she is the only one covering her ears because the noise was too loud for her.
I agree. She’s not given the same space to express negative emotions because of how it impacts the weather. So she’s forced to bottle it all up until it explodes all at once. People need to allow themselves to be upset to release that stress. But for Pepa she has to keep it clear skies for everyone else’s sake.
Pepa is one of my favorite characters. I really wish she wasn’t taught that her feelings were something to control. Rain is nomad but they all act as though she should be sunny ALL the time
When Pepa was freaking out and Felix is just there trying to waft the cloud away 🤣 what a supportive king, truly one of the best relationships in a Disney movie.
If you really think about it, a little rain never hurt anyone. So as long as it's not a hurricane, she can actually feel and express emotions other than feeling happy all the time. It's just that the people around her are unwilling to accommodate those changes in the weather except for Bruno who told her that he loved her whether rain or snow and to just let herself "let it go." I feel like it's how society forces people not to cry because it makes them unconfortable even though crying is really healthy and doesn't actually hurt the person who is just witnessing the crying.
I wonder what it was like when she was 5 and still having small child melt downs or when she was really sleepy- you know how upset little kids get when they are sleepy
Or worse, when she got pregnant. Thrice. It's a good thing all her children are 7 and 10 years apart to give the town a break between each pregnancy because I'm sure they got the worst hurricanes and hailstorms every other day, back then.
In my opinion pepa is just the most animated person and has the best expressions to everything same thing with bruno. Theyre both my favorite because theyre so pure
It seems like it's not Pepa's mood or emotions directly that control the weather, but more her mental state/inner monologue, because when she's anxious it's like a hurricane/tornado, and she can be fairly happy whilst hailing, as well as her "clear skies" part looks like she's actually clearing her head, like when you 'empty' your mind
I love her facial expressions in t he while Bruno scene! It’s so cute how she and Felix are so happy together. Ngl she’s one of my favorite characters.
People have posted about how unfair Pepa's powers are in the universe of the movie but I think, on a symbolic level, it's very fitting. When you have spiraling anxiety like she does ("Great, now I'm thundering. And that will lead to a drizzle, and that will lead to a sprinkle-!") it can really feel like your world is ending and you have no control over it. Just like a natural catastrophe.
I really appreciate Pepa and Isabela’s relationship. They have similar struggles (having to keep their powers at bay from their emotions) and I like to think they get along quite well from the few interactions we see in the movie.
@@shipclip1092 It would be really useful. For example you could help nature a lot (water them, have the perfect temperature for them). You can also use it for agriculture or no outside evebts would be cancelled because of vad weather. Hell, you can also use it for fighting if necessary.
I love how everyone does things that use their powers to calm them down. Pepa said , “ Clear sky’s, clear sky’s…” to calm herself down. I want to be in Enconto so bad.
Pepa's story is so interesting to me. Her rain and stuff isn't all negative emotions, abuela just never wanted her to let them out because she didn't like it. She was very tense and stressed about her emotions until after abuela finally lets loose of her expectations we see her at the end of the movie dancing in the hail as she finally lets her emotions free and can accept them.
I love her husband, he's always such a calming presence constantly improving her mood and literally showing the cloud away as soon as it appears! And he has her back.
I'm not a fan of how she was used as a comedic relief, her gift could've allowed for a much more interesting sub plot about anxiety, maybe even a whole song just for her

Okay but I am in love with how Camilo was trying to help his mom relax, and the way he called her “mami” just melts my heart
Its sooo adorable
I couldn’t stop rewinding the part that said “Felix marry Pepa”
she is designed so well she looks so utterly unhinged i adore her
"PEPA, CALM DOWN"
"IM DOING MU BEST"
"Yes" >:(
The cutest scene by far, I love Felix
I like how she’s a well established character, and we understand here yet she only has 3 whole minutes of screen time
Let’s be honest the real star of this video is our boy, felix
I love Pepa and Camilo, Camilo is noticed a lot by the the fandom but not pepa-
People have posted about how unfair Pepa's powers are in the universe of the movie but I think, on a symbolic level, it's very fitting. When you have spiraling anxiety like she does ("Great, now I'm thundering. And that will lead to a drizzle, and that will lead to a sprinkle-!") it can really feel like your world is ending and you have no control over it. Just like a natural catastrophe.
Did anyone else her her say “I made a rainbow” as soon as mirabel walked in with the fireworks in the movie I swear it was adorable 😭
There’s a cute part where she says “look I made a rainbow”
02:48 Love that part!🤣😂🤣😂
Did anyone else notice at 0:40 when she takes a sip of coffee, her cloud disappears? 😂😂
her design style seems like the generic antagonist step mother, but she’s such a lovely character here!
I really appreciate Pepa and Isabela’s relationship. They have similar struggles (having to keep their powers at bay from their emotions) and I like to think they get along quite well from the few interactions we see in the movie.
I love how she always looks clinically insane
Just like Dolores
@@luv_kylah in my opinion, Dolores is the most adorable 😃
@@miraculoustdi211 👁👄👁
pepa is basically all of us istg 😭
2:01
*epik ASMR with screams*
pepa’s facial expressions are always so cute like at 0:48😩😭😂
She's honestly my favorite considering that she's representing pale Hispanics
Felix and Pepa together are so cute
TBH I'm not sure if she likes her gift.
I sure as hell wouldn't be. I cannot think of one genuinely significant and positive use for it
@@shipclip1092 It would be really useful. For example you could help nature a lot (water them, have the perfect temperature for them). You can also use it for agriculture or no outside evebts would be cancelled because of vad weather. Hell, you can also use it for fighting if necessary.
Yea man imagine getting wet from a literal cloud on your head whenever you're sad or stressed it'd make you more upset lol
Oh really?
I love Pepa's accent
Yea the actress said English aint her 1st language
I love when she says SHOO SHOO because of the cloud it’s funny how the cloud is just chilling
I love how everyone does things that use their powers to calm them down. Pepa said , “ Clear sky’s, clear sky’s…” to calm herself down. I want to be in Enconto so bad.
Pepa is a mood.
That’s it, the whole comment.
1:55 really loves spaceship
2:41 how is that transition so seamless
pepa = my spirit animal 😭💀
pepa pig 🐖
Pepa has some of the best facial expressions.
I love her husband, he's always such a calming presence constantly improving her mood and literally showing the cloud away as soon as it appears! And he has her back.
No kidding tho but the songs in 3.0x speed is FUNNY AS HELL
Especially in the end with bruno
I cant from: "we dont talk about bruno, we dont talk about brunoooo...BUT!"🤣🤣🤣
I love the way she says "I made a rainbow!" its so cute, but also I feel like she's proud of herself for making something other than a cloud
Pepa is such an Underated character , all the video are about Camlio or Bruno , nice to see one about Pepa 🙂
La Gaita really did a good job voicing pepa in both English and Spanish!
Yes she did!
I'm not a fan of how she was used as a comedic relief, her gift could've allowed for a much more interesting sub plot about anxiety, maybe even a whole song just for her
Pepa is my favorite, shes amazing x
Pepa has the definition of "cloud above your head"
