I don't even need any of this stuff.
But I want it.
Time to liquid cool that DA2 😎
@@optimumtech Heck yeah!
Life would be pretty boring if people only bought what they need.
One of the lesser Reasons i bought a 3080FE XD
@@optimumtech I squeezed 3x 240mm radiators in my DA2 thanks to your review of the Barrow CPU/PUMP/RES combo!
The production quality is really awesome. You must like doing these vids quite a lot Ali!
He knows how to use a microphone too! Another channel is run by a guy who needs to take lessons from him or get a better mic. We should not have to set our sound to maximum volume and then turn it way down when we come back to watch professionals like this dude.
Some other waterblock manufacturers have started shipping the blocks with the thermal pads pre-applied, or at least pre-cut. EK is seriously behind the curve there.
seems like such a good way to increase value perception and user experience.
Couldn't agree more. Not to mention, most EK block require you to purchase the nearly $50 backplate separately when other companies are including a back plate with the waterblock for less than the EK block alone.
If some rube will pay extra for an ek anyways there's no incentive for them to do anything extra
@@ffwast there products are the best of the best. i dont want some pre installed pads that someone else could fuck up. yes the back plate has been a sour issue but has also not been needed for the large majority of the cards before now.

Really gorgeous
Well thank you ! :)
@@EKWBofficial Oh hi EK!
@@rossipietro
Hello there :D *impersonating general Kenobi*
@@EKWBofficial @ 7:58 -- Is the "EK-Quantum Vector FE RTX 3080 D-RGB - Silver" in this build paired with a "EK-Quantum Magnitude D-RGB - Nickel + Plexi" CPU block? Is that the best CPU block match for this GPU block? Or would a "EK-Quantum Magnitude - Full Nickel" with a "EK-Quantum Magnitude Accent - D-RGB" work just as well? Likewise, do the "EK-Quantum Torque - Nickel" match this GPU block, or are the "EK-Quantum Torque - Satin Titanium" (like used in the Optimum Tech ION build) the better match?
I aspire to have the kind minimalist aesthetics that this guy has one day.
Me too though he probably tidies up for the video
This has really become the pinnacle of tech tubers. Aesthetic, cinematography, and efficiency in giving us the info we come here for. Kudos to you man.
I watch you prettey long now, about 3 years and you really made bangers from the beginning. As is see you start to get the recognition you deserve, hope your channel keeps growing. Also nice is that you are prettey decent at fps games haha so you can really tell if a mouse is good or not.
Whish you all the best.
Gero
That's beautiful. Now I just need a graphics card.
nowhere to be found
Theyre a myth
So true, mate, so true 💆
Checked the Amazon link for shits and giggles. 2 3080s for sale. One was over $5000 the other over$3000 ffs
I saw a 5500XT with 4GB of GDDR6 for $1000. The 8GB version was for about $250 - and 4 gigabyte cards are supposed to be barely able to be used for mining - gone zombie! So I wonder who quintupled the price of my GPU if not miners.
Probably the best waterblock for a GPU I've ever seen
This block would make me okay with liquid cooling the FE card. When I can get one.
Great video!
It was hard to top the FE design, but we think we got pretty close :)
@@EKWBofficial it looks very very good. Well done. Love the nods to the FE design and the work that went into making sure the block could dissipate the 300w+ of heat.
1:07 this is classified as adult content in over 100 countries.
Damn that arrangement is satisfying 🥵
Every time you post it's like Christmas, your production quality is out of this world! Keep it up, we all love and appreciate the content :)
I really appreciate your straight forward review style as well your skillful and respectful handling of the components you use. It is quite a pleasant difference when compared to the GN teardowns.
I really wish EK would pre-apply their thermal pads. Corsair somehow manages to pre-apply thermal pads on their Hydro-X line, and they don't have the EK tax.
Bitspower and Alphacool at least pre cut them so it’s a lot easier than EK
Man. This is such good camera work along with the detailed instructions. #1 disassembly guide on the internet.
I love the aesthetics of this channel. Absolute benchmark!
Really appreciate the clarity of info and visuals on these videos. It's the reason I subscribe and watch, even if I've never get my hands on any of the hardware :)
No matter how awesome this looks, I would never forgive myself if I ruined my 3080 trying it. So I'll just watch the build videos of braver people :)
How can you ruin it? no way, it's like assembling a lego!
Sooner or later you'll have to change the thermal paste anyway
@@dallatorretdu to be fair, some of us (ex- me) are pretty bad at assembling legos lol
I really hope you show this off in an SFF case, I’m really looking to try out a liquid cooling setup in a small case
first time on this channel. sick camera work and overall video. looked super cool
This wb is why I wanted fe card... Not only it's really nice but those input output holes are on perfect spot. Sadly i won't get my hands on this one since I'm in eu
Alphacool makes a very similar block for the Reference layout, I've been planning to hunt for one of those ;)
how is eu relevant? it ships to ne de aus fr be and some others
@@A_Pro_Fuze I don't think the FE is sold in europe. They barely exist in the US. It looks like Nvidia is selling all of its dies to board partners because the Fe cards got restocked in November and that was the last time that I know of.
I preordered the 3090 FE block to DE. (I even accidentally ordered this one before 🤫, so it should be possible in the EU)
This block is literally made in eu, slovenia.
Man your video
quality is unbelievable for a channel of your size 10/10 thanks a ton for the videos
That block is amazing, single slot, very compact, looks fantastic, and has far more surface area for cooling? Yeah, that's awesome.
I have 2 x 240mm rads on my 3080 and it allows me to run my fans locked to 1100rpm and never seeing water temp going above 45 degrees! Silent and maximum performance and I love it!
You can also undervolt AND OC at the same time on the EK 360mm waterblock for some insane clocks. I found that Ampere undervolts REALLY well -- I have 2070 MHz stable on my 3070 Gaming X Trio @ 950mv. Overall 6 degree decrease in temp (from 65C to 59C), 30-40w less power consumption, and +100 MHz clock increase over the stock 1965-1980 MHz @ 1050mv.
Aesthetic and editing on point brotha! Great content and review info as well. My inspiration to build a SFF PC is all thanks to you!
Sir you are a MKBHD for PC tech. Production is just superb.
Your content is amazing man keep up the great work!
That block is gorgeous. Wish the aib blocks were as cool. I was looking at the Strix OC 3090 block earlier today and this FE block just blows it away IMO.
Great video.
That teardown was clean.
Thanks for your content.
I watercooled mine with a Barrow block. Works like a charm and it's beautiful. I placed it together with an ryzen 5800x in an Evolve Shift X. Rad is an EK 280 45mm thick. Everything runs very cool, that's so amazing to be able to play ray traced games in 4k with such a small enclosure.
Did I just fall in love with a water block? Great content!
at first glance on the thumbnail, I thought it was a Dave2D video LOL.
awesome waterblock and this'll be perfect for an SFF custom waterloop build.
Looking forward to the interesting builds. I'm currently working on a dual radiator Ncase M1 build using a 3080FE and I have some observations to share:
1) The FE stock cooler is damn near perfect for the M1. Thanks to the bottom fan mounts, the giant semi-passive fins in the center of the card get a lot of airflow, and cooling performance was much better than I originally expected.
2) The EK block featured here does not play nice with a dual radiator setup. Even using the XSPC TX240, you have maybe 2mm of clearance between the cooling system and the block. I'm not sure how badly this is affecting performance at this point since I don't yet have a proper comparison since I haven't done a 1:1 setup vs...
3) The Bykski 3080 FE block exists, and is thinner than the EK block, at least below the motherboard. I've run into no end of problems here though, starting with the backplate simply not fitting against the ROG Strix's IO/VRM package, then the IO shield for the block being some weird 1.5 slot monstrosity, and finally (no doubt due to the lack of backplate and shear dearth of cooling contact compared to the EK block) memory junction temperatures that match those articles you showed.
I have a few solutions in mind here, but I'm waiting on a cable kit from pslatecustoms, since I'm also looking at doing a delid and direct die mod and only want to take the motherboard out once, so I'm waiting for those to arrive to do the final routing before setting up two 1:1 tests with the EK block and the Bykski block. I'm also using liquid metal on the GPU, which I think is contributing to my GPU temperatures generally being better than my CPU temperatures watt-to-watt.
I need to thank you for last summer's Ncase dual radiator video. I'd been planning that build since January of that year, and your implementation gave me some good ideas on what I could do (those quick-disconnects were a 9000 IQ play). I'm looking forward to finishing this thing in about a month. Thanks for providing so much SFF focused content for me to enjoy while I indulge this expensive hobby!
The size and positioning of those ports on the waterblock should allow a DDC pump to be mounted in the space that would normally be taken up by the end fan on the FE card in a SFF build. Having a full powered seperate pump in such a SFF build should really unlock the power/noise ratio in an SFF build.
Nice editing, music and effects!
Keep up with the exceptional reviews. Love your presentation of builds. Inspirational.
Thank you for doing memory junction temp performance
Unbelievably good thumbnail
That intro music is perfect, man. Nice to hear something a bit different.
The founders edition cards almost always look so good!
thats so awesome how it integrates the fe backplate into the block
Bless you for uploading in 4K
I've bought a lot of ekwb products, they are cheaper made than everyone expects. I have 3 Velocity WaterBlocked with issues in the acrylic.
I went with the Aorus 3080 Xtreme WB. I added thermal grizzly and Gelid.
That strand of hair at 3:02 making an appearance :D Awesome video, we've included it in our 3080 FE product page :)
That looks pretty sick. Would love to see it in an NZXT H1 and the NCASE M1.
I would never watercool a FE card, simply because the FE cooler looks so cool :D
I have a 3090 FE and after being used to water cooled GPUs, this thing is very annoying.
Can’t wait until my EK FE block finally arrives.
@@Robert-G yup even though mines a tuf oc so the fans arent as quiet as the strix, so im getting an ek wb aswell
From what I understand, they don’t sound cool. My 3090 X Trio is *relatively* quiet (still easily audible over my Noctua case fans) and the FE is supposedly much louder.
I'd want to watercool it so I can put the FE cooler on a shelf
This block is also nothing short of that, but I just don’t see me getting the card any time soon without paying double the price, I guess I will have to just skip this gen completely
Crazy how you didn't undervolt and dropped just about 20*C. Personally, as a hobby cryptominer, I like to keep my cards as cool as possible to ensure longevity. Definitely thinking about putting a few 3080's in a liquid loop for the noise reduction and higher clocks. Also looks like a great side-project for my gaming setup. Thanks for the info.
Just got a 27GN950-B (in no small part because of OT's review) and upgrading from a pretty poor-quality 1440p to a 4K panel with colors this good is such a game changer. These videos look absolutely gorgeous.
I dont even care about the vids from now on , your channel is aesthetically very pleasing and production is top notch.
Great camera work
Haha, I love that this released just as I finished mine although I went with the corsair block. Have a 5x120mm worth of rad space paired with a 5950x. Seems to be working beautifully so far.
Loved the simplicity of the removal of the stock cooler here, straight to the point and with just the right amount of detail. Another great vid, well done!
Love those Thumbnails!
As always, great content and video quality! I got my hands on a powercolor Red Devil 6800xt whish i could block this beast! hahah I'm also about to assembly my 360 alphacool rad with barrow pump/block just for my 5600x, but i cant get my hands on a EKWB ZMT tube here in brazil and the direct shipping is around 80 usd... 😅
Love your video productions and your minimalist style and camera angles give me inspiration . SFF is the heart of the Channel but bring up more computers tech will get more View. . I believe your Channel will blow up in the future. Have a Awesome 2021 😎
Main thing with the FE cards is that they will fit so well with that waterblock in SFF builds. I got my hands on(luckily) 3080 XC3 Ultra. It’s quite a bit longer than the FE and the waterblock from Watercool is expensive!
Your B-Roll is just godlike!
I remember water cooling my GPU and didn't put heatsink on the MOSFETs, nice little pop and smoke
Nice music choice in the intro.
Thank you ,Very informative . I hope one day to be able to find a 3080 fe at msrp,so i can build this into my setup.
I love the look of that water block. If I can get a RTX 3080 FE I may go with this block.
Great setup! You list the rad and waterblock but what do I need if I just have the GPU without any water cooling at all? Pump, tubing, fitting, fans, reservoir?
That's one of the best looking GPU water block I have ever seen.
Great vid Ali, this is better than I was expecting for results and darn it looks good. I'm thinking a 280mm loop in the Meshlicious would actually be extremely viable and you may be able to use the rear facing GPU IO due to the shorter length, freeing up a lot of space at the bottom for a powerful and quiet pump/res combo - thoughts?
Ok, I really like the video and all... but what is the intro music track?
JAAMMMMMMMM.
I don't usually leave a comment, but great video as always Ali, keep up the great work and keep improving like you are doing right now!
impressive. I use external water cooling (MO-RA 3 Radiator) for my EKWB RTX 3080 Suprim cooler. It´s the thin version and I reach 40C at 2025MHz in load.
Great video, but the machining on that water block is horrendous. The cold plate should be a mirror finish - not have massive circular milling marks, which are going to negatively impact heat transfer from the die. You should check out the Bitspower 3080/3090 FE block.
No link to the driver kit?
Great stuff by the way.
I'm primarily an EK only shopper thanks to your videos. Expensive but really top notch stuff
I am getting the RTX3090FE block from EKWB, so hyped. :D
That water-block looks amazing
I have a full custom loop (cpu, gpu and nvme) with only two 120mm rad and only 3 fans for the entire build. I set my fans to 1200Rpm max and in heavy gaming after severall hours, my gpu doesn't go over 70 and same for the cpu (room temp is in the 20-25c). Forgot to say, it's an i9 10900K and a RTX 3080. I play max out in 4k.
i love the way you made all this hardwork and didn't even make this video to 10 minutes.
I am going to be doing a build with the EKWB in my SM 580 raw metal case... IF I can get my hands on a FE pcb that is. Great to see an up-close look at installation!
@optimum tech, do let us know if you are working on an SM 580 water cooled build. I've seen some stuff out there on reddit that might be worth a go!
Yes more water cooling videos
Man I can’t stop watching his videos cause they are just so good and relaxing
3080 FE: three slots
EKWB Cooler block: one slot
That's awesome for mini-ITX builds.
Hey, nice video. I have a question
What is the best wadiator in 240mm on the market
NVIDIA really made this card to not be opened. It’s fantastic how small the cards still are, when cooling is externalized. The future might just be cases made for watercooling and you just plug-in small components into the distro plates.
your teardown tutorial was 3000 times better than fat computer jesus's
I don't want to buy a 3080 just to do this, but the cutout in the PCB makes this compact package possible. Sad something like this doesn't exist for the 6900XT.
I’ve just installed mine! Went through two blocks... first one has an overtightened screw that I couldn’t get to move. Second had a cracked outlet... beautiful block though and temps went from 70 to 40
Watching this without having a 3080, no one does really.
Wow! This video is so well made!
Was planning on buying this block. It's £250 here in the UK, which is ridiculously expensive but that performance gain looks so enticing.
Oh and I need to buy an RTX 3080 in the first place so... yeah. Way out of my budget rn.
I just installed the ek 3090 fe special edition block today. The most difficult parts are thermal pad and aligning screw holes.
The FE design is very good looking. The bronze is very appealing and I would be hard pressed to remove the outer design unless I really needed to. But getting the most out of an ITX SFF system is what we're all here for so I'll probably do it anyway!
Out of all the hardware reviewers Optimum Tech has its own unique approach or style. You just watch and enjoy it in the evening after work, and you are sure the next one will be no worse.
Dave2D is drooling at the thumbnail...
Wouldn't recommend that back-plate for use with a 3090, the grooves on it will make adding any sort of additional cooling to the VRAM on the back difficult.
Absolutely beautiful block EK!
If you managed to grab a RTX 3080 FE at launch or near RRP then paying the premium for the expensive block is well worth it as it still be less than what the cards sell for. Especially as it basically now a 3090 in gaming.
You should ALWAYS spread the thermal-paste yourself if it’s on a direct die, since it’s not just a heat spreader you need to cover the entire die.
Just put this in my nr200 system. Dual 240mm loop, noctua fans all over. Super tight fit! But works well. I can also vouch for memory temps being 108c on my card specifically. They’re now sitting at 68c with a 900 overclock on the memory.
Got to admit, that EK 3080 block is damn pretty. I'm waiting for EK to bring out their watercooled backplate for my 3090.
A 240 radiator with full size fans should be enough but the 3090 had me thinking about going for a larger case just for a 360 radiator and be sure everything stays frosty.
Great build!
I'm just waiting for summer here in the norther emisphere to know how that 350W juice is going to dissipate in a 30°C plus room... I'm in for some good ol' drama on forums :-)
Such a brilliant channel! ^^
