I think instead of Nā they say Nō. Besides it makes more sense seeming as though nā usually means something said to the speaker in the past tense. Rather nō means from so “nō te tiriti” makes sense it translates to from the treaty. And change rātou to Mātou cause it wouldn’t make sense talking about their belongings.

@@makaibey8146 For context, I speak Hawaiian and much of the vocabulary and grammar of the two languages is nearly identical with some minor differences, however I’m fully open to being corrected on anything I’m about to say by Māori speakers regarding their language. I assume from context the song’s hook is quoting (or at least paraphrasing) the terms of the New Zealand Settlements Act of 1863, where they (rātou) is in direct reference to those considered to be in rebellion and their land. As for the nā vs nō grammatical distinction, this also exists in Hawaiian regarding alienable vs inalienable possession. It would be intuitive for a Hawaiian speaker to use the alienable class (na) instead of the inalienable class (no) in this context because the terms listed by the treaty are being produced by the treaty in a purely grammatical sense. I suspect this might also be the case in Māori, but again I am open to being corrected if this is not the case.

I'm Samoan and German. I love metal and have for a long time tried to find a Polynesian metal band. This is the first one I've heard of and have listened to their music over the past week. I'm a huge fan of Amon Amarth for the fact they tap into their ancestral roots and tell stories from their folklore, history and legends in their music. I have thought that many Polynesian people's could do the same with metal. I'm glad to see it here. I will be following this band for quite awhile. Please, come to Salt Lake City, Utah sometime. We got a large Polynesian community here. Albeit not many of them are metal fans, but I think showing you guys to them will give them a reason to be. Cheers!

Wow the talent the three of you have is just something else!! I've been listening to you guys since I first heard Ru Ang Te Whenua--which is my favorite, even tho it took me like 2 weeks till I noticed I could click the cc button to get translation 😂😂 So that should tell you just how much I love your music!!! But now knowing the lyric's and meaning behind your songs, oh and I watched the Documentary about how you want to bring the Maori language back. Now I know what the meaning of this song is about and I just think you guys with your talent and heart for what you believe in is just awesomely amazing!!! 🤟🤟🖤🖤🤘🤘

Reminds me of landgrabbing and displacement of the Lumads and other indigenous peoples in the Philippines for capitalist interests -
since the Spanish colonial era until today.
Raupatu = Kinawat (Cebuano for "stolen") = Ninakaw (Filipino for "stolen")
THEY CANNOT TAKE OUR MANA! (in Filipino understood as "inheritance" but also has the same connotations as the Maori and Hawai'ian 'mana')

I am not a metalhead in the slightest, but this track is very special. For the truth, for the plain truth.
They always knew they bit too much to chew, covered with lies.
The land they stole so sly.
They always knew they bit too much.
    Too proud.
    Too late.
The songs of lament continue to seal their fate.
    Shame on them.
Glory to the truth, and all who stand by it.

Im officially an alien weaponry fan! Ive now listened to this song a hundred times and dissected what it is i love about it, shredding leads of guitar have been replaced with raw band heaviness instead! I think that is what makes it different, straight to the point. Kind of like what nirvana did to rock music, this band has done it to metal music. The changes in drumming and guitar layers and signature timing changes during the song truly awesome! I cant understand what they are saying but, the song in hearing it makes me want to know! The main riff has this megadeth vibe. Anything megadeth level now a days, unbelievable!
