  • In this video, we continue our Atlantic crossing from the halfway mark to West Palm Beach, Florida. This is part 4 of our mini-series of our Atlantic crossing. We loose and engine and do our best to get it back online again as well show you the recent work done to the exterior of the yacht. We give you a look at the duties and responsibilities of the crew during a crossing of this magnitude. Prepare to see what it takes to make a crossing like this work. From logistics to crew food, we show you everything. Sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's video!

What a great video and series Blair and the whole crew put together. I'm back onboard now, and we are preparing to depart for Antigua to begin our Caribbean season. All the crew are super excited to get down to the islands and start chartering again.
Thanks for watching and we'll see you next week. 🛥🥂

What a delight! I'm a grandmother about to enter my 85th year and remember at your age, in the 50's ,, All I could do was look forward to getting home to my boyfriend for the summer! (Can't remember his name now!) Next generation, my son had a gap year in Belgium grooming show horses and farming endive. Now my grandson is taking 2 months off from his emerging career to hike the Camino. It's something he missed during the pandemic, but his wonderful boss is making way for it now. So we should improve with each generation, and I can see that you people make me hopeful for our world and it's positive development. Thank you for this fun learning experience.!

I did two crossings as Chief on a 50 mtr motor yacht. The first from Mallorca to Fort Lauderdale, this crossing was uneventful, we even stopped exactly half way to go for a swim mid Atlantic, which was fun and enlightening, it was warm, not very salty and the visibility underwater went on forever.
The second from Miami back to the med wasn't so much fun.
We had finished our busy Caribbean season a little late due to being fully booked but our boss asked our Captain if it would be ok for a friend of the family could have a couple of weeks vacation before we set off back to the med.
This turned out to be a big mistake! Hurricane season was in full swing as we left Miami and there were three systems brewing, we were down to a delivery crew, with only me and the first mate being part of the normal crew, all the rest were taking a well earned rest.
We went north to Bermuda to try and avoid the systems that were starting to block our passage out of the Caribbean, only to discover that one of the systems decided to turn and run straight at us, after two days all of the delivery crew were laid up seasick including the delivery skipper.
With out a doubt one of the most frightening times of my life, going headlong into a hurricane is far from pleasant, you can't see the tops of the waves from the bridge windows on the way up because they are so high, and you have to gun the engines flat out on the way down because you are surfing and trying to keep from rolling over, at one point according to my logs we went over to 48 degrees, but were picked up and righted by the swell, we went through the eye and out the other side and survived, all me and the first had done was try to stay awake and keep the vessel upright through all of this chaos.
I could continue but condensing four days into a few sentences isn't that easy, but two things that are memorable from my adventure were seeing two hump backed whales surfing alongside the boat out of the starboard window during the storm, and discovering that one of the 22 ft Glastron tenders had been ripped from the deck during the crossing.

I can't believe the luck of having such good weather crossing the Atlantic. Crossings like this are rare and a return trip won't be this easy. On top of that, they need to rename the vessel "Lucky" because of the good weather crossing and no big mechanical issues. The potential for many problems would have been 12 ft swells and 40-45 kt winds on one engine. I could imagine a mess on the inside of anything not tied down because of rolling. Great video and thank God for such an easy crossing in spite of having one engine halfway across.

Brilliant flat sea crossing, well done to whoever planned that. Well done for keeping the boat going also, I would have expected an engine loss would have been a lot worse than just 2-3 days delay. Great video as always! Would be interested in hearing about the boat handling on one engine.

We lost an engine crossing in a (tiny by comparison 😂) 42’ SeaRay Sundancer from Grand Bahama to Fort Lauderdale and hadn’t quite made the halfway point to any Florida port. Knowing we had to drag a prop we decided to turn around and go back to Lucaya. Good thing we did because having left with a full tank we arrived back in Lucaya on fumes. That dragging prop which did spin freely created a lot of drag, along with slower than optimal cruise speed. Turning around is definitely an option to seriously consider in the case of losing an engine. We would not have made it to Florida on our fuel so going back was definitely the right call.
