The BYD's Seal is already a headache for Tesla's Model 3 ! Already 20 dealerships in the UK and be expanded to 80 dealerships in 2024 just in the UK alone !
There's a news article out today about how Toyota's hybrid vehicles are leaving Tesla in the dust. If that's true, why are western countries only picking on Chinese companies like BYD?
EV Cars are everywhere in Shenzhen. I made a video about how quiet the traffic in shenzhen is thanks to all the electric vehicles in shenzhen and china overall.
Hey Lee, it is great to see China jump ahead of the US in EV tech. The problem is that Lithium batteries are super heavy, they take forever to charge, make roads far more dangerous because increased mass increases the deadliness of accidents with other cars and pedestrians, and lastly, they eat up huge amounts of energy-intensive raw materials. A far better solution for short-haul urban travel is compressed air vehicles if engineering details can be worked out. Tata Motors in India bought patents for improved compressed-air vehicle tech and made prototype cars but never took them to market. I heard there is some development in China. I would love to know if you've heard anything about that.
This is the first time I ever heard of a compressed-air vehicle. So a car that has a tank of high-pressure compress air. When you step on the gas pedal, it releases the air to power it. Sound very eco-friendly. Need to do some research on this.
@@darkcloud5830 It is human-friendly. No emissions in the city, fast refuel time and lower noise than combustion. Lower round trip efficiency than lithium battery but requires so much less resources, including energy and causes so much less environmental damage in production that it comes out far ahead in lifetime comparison. There's a Wikipedia article on the Tata OneCAT.
@@kavabeanI just saw a video on OneCat. Good idea, but the project didn't move forward for whatever reason. Maybe the automotive industry has suppressed it, just like the energy industry suppress cold fusion.
@@darkcloud5830 It wouldn't be 'the automotive industry'. It would be finance capital, which owns all of the industrial firms, including both oil and automotive (ICE/EVs). It wouldn't surprise me if it was being held back. I had hoped the CPC would fund research into it.

I hope these Chinese brands bring their cars to America - but if/when they do, I have my doubts as to whether they will do it properly. They should study the history of Honda America, Inc. - how Honda painstakingly built up a solid and well-supported dealer network and, just as importantly, a nation-wide, efficient parts distribution system in the US. In order to attract American buyers, they need to invest in these things in a long-term, committed way, and the process takes a lot of time and money. But without doing this, they risk their US operations failing to take root, as has befallen so many other foreign brands, such as Daewoo, Daihatsu, Renault, Peugeot, Saab, Citroën, Simca, Yugo, Fiat (pre-Stellantis), and Opel.
Nice to see a comment from you again. I think you are correct, however I think the biggest current hurdle to the U.S market is the tariffs which are making the cars much more expensive in the U.S. This may be overcome by the Chinese brands building factories in Mexico. Will be interesting to see how this pans out. I feel the Incumbent U.S producers, Ford, GM etc will lose a lot of their export markets over the next few years, as from what I see they are somewhat behind with EV technology.
As a mature market, there is not much space for new brands, especially considering the law and political risk, the ROI of USA market for Chinese brand is lower than other developing country market like south-america or mid-east or ASEAN countries, which makes Chinese brands lack the drive to enter the American market. But I believe there is one day that you can buy Chinese cars in USA.
Don't know about that dude. The Chinese EVs imported into the US cause more fires than the Tesla. One of the reasons why Chinese EVs do so well overseas is because of the pricing point caused by the massive subsidies. EU is going to impose massive fines and tariffs on Chinese EVs to counter the effect of the massive subsidies.
Based on this video, this vehicle is nowhere close to the Tesla M3 when it comes to fit/finish and ride quality. While it may have an opportunity to penetrate the US market if the company can manage to build a network of dealers and can navigate the stringent safety regulations, it looks like it’s not quite there yet.
