7:20 Why wouldn't you simply bake the texture applied directly to the object? Yes, you'd have to bake it again for every object that shares that texture, but you don't need to UV unwrap, one of the several advantages of procedural textures.
I haven't personally tested baking to the object though I don't see why it wouldn't work. The reason I opted for an image texture approach is exactly as you said, because you can use it for multiple things without having to bake time and time again. An excellent suggestion for one-off models though where you know you're happy with the final texture.
I'm so glad you took your time doing this, this is like the first video i've seen so far that go deep into some serious issues when exporting a 3D model from blender. Your channel's unique, forever grateful!
Thanks for sharing, your videos are great. I have never worked with 3D, animation or any graphics editing before. I'm not a scientist but a technical trainer mainly in RF hardware and applications. Your videos are inspiring me to step out of my comfort zone a single handed you have shown me 3D objects are the way forward to explain complex concepts. Thanks again Sub'd & joint patreon, keep up the great work 👍
I am a PowerPoint Designer and our client work haven't been involved with adding 3d models yet. Looks like I need to explore more on this space. Thank you so much for this video. Subscribed and Hit the bell! Blessing!
TIP FOR EVERYONE! Create 1 slide with 3d model, duplicate it and in the second slide, rotate it round a bit, then in the second slide, go to transitions, and set it to morph transition, this will animate the object exactly how you rotated it when u change slides
Do you have a way to transfer and use 3D models with texture and animation from Blender tp ppt? I tried many tutorials and it didn't work. When I use FBX I lose the texture and When using GLB you lose the animation what can i do?
For animations I've always rendered videos from blender. Since ppt isn't exactly equipped with an animation pipeline (other than for slides) I'm not sure if the tools exist to do what you're asking
This might be something about needing to apply the rotation with Ctrl+A. It could also be something related to the baking settings. Those are just my best guess so hopefully that helps
Thank you for this useful tutorial. I am currently exporting several assets to powerpoint but I have difficulty to export glass. I add glass shader in blender on a simple sphere but it does not want to export the material. I tried with a principle BSDF and reducing the alpha value to make transparent but it does not work too.Do you have a solution ? Is glb format support transparency ? Thanks a lot in advance
Hey Joachim. I'm not sure about glass. My instincts tell me that it would require a separate back of the alpha channel. This post might have more answers than I do at this time blender.stackexchange.com/questions/129686/export-transparent-material-in-gltf-in-blender-2-8
Hey Rebecca, displacement is a tricky one. I think you would probably have to apply the displacement to the mesh directly, then export. AO baking is covered nicely in this video from Ansys ruclips.net/video/cJ66-WWY37I/видео.html&ab_channel=AGI%2CAnAnsysCompany
Hello. Help solve the problem. 3d models in power point are too much lit and look very pale. Everything looks good in Blender though. Tell me how to reduce the power of lighting in power piont
Hi Gordon, from my memory of this there are limited options and I believe I mention that in this video. To the best of my knowledge the only real option is to try to use the lighting options in powerpoint itself which you can access in the Format 3D model tab under 3-D Format - Lighting. Unfortunately those controls only offer a set of presets. Getting the model to match what you have in Blender is better achieved by simply rendering out the image or an animation.
@@gordonborden8821 Hi Gordon. Not at all. It's not a disturbance and I always welcome questions. I just don't always know the answer. My version of powerpoint is 365. I found the lighting options by right clicking my 3D model and choosing "Format 3D Model". That brought up a side panel and then under "Effects" (the pentagon) there is an option for "3-D Format" and lighting is at the bottom of that menu.
If I understand the question correctly then, with the node wrangler add-on installed, you want either Ctrl+T or Ctrl+Shift+T, depending on if you're dealing with a single texture or a full set of textures
I will definitely be doing chromosomes at some point. I've been trying to figure out how detailed I want to go with them (simple visuals vs a full set vs all the parts wrapped together, etc)

You are a lifesaver.

Exactly what I wanted

Saved me. Thanks alot. 👍
Joda por fin varios días buscando la solución y funciona
i tried glb and fbx, and both create problems (fbx don't show texture, and glb don't show the animation properly)
gltf does not show modifiers in PowerPoint
i want to use blender depht of field in powerpoint can i do that????

@@CGFigures Thank you so much for your reply. I will check the link !But export to ppt seems to no be easy. Some progesses are needed I think.
Hi, very useful, but could you gently explain what are the workarounds to preserve displacement and AO?

I'm sorry for disturbing you. Can you tell me where the tab with the lighting settings in Powerpoint is? Your version Powerpoint?

What is the shortcut to open the import texture pane again?

without subscription we can't use it i wasted 4 hours
what?
