I was 8 when this movie first hit theaters and first saw it at 11, this movie hits a lot different rewatching it at 31 after you've been thru life a little bit and can really understand where everyone is coming from.

And this ladies and gentlemen is why I side with Quincy on the situation. Y'all can say Quincy was in the wrong because he could have went back to her dorm and they could have talked it out all night long but y'all fail to realize it wasn't meeting her at the dorm it was her repeatedly saying I can't I can't because of basketball. Monica got so caught up into being the star of the team that she prioritize basketball over a relationship she had with a boy before she became a star. Here we are 5 years later he's moved on about to get married to somebody else. I'm going to take a wild guess and say in the five years past Monica didn't try to entertain other guys and if she did it didn't last long because she still wanted Quincy. And here's Quincy about to get married and Monica expressing his love for him and she's acknowledging she understands why Quincy broke up with her in college. She said I should have been there for you I just didn't know how to prioritize that and be all about ball.
If that was the case and Quincy moved on, he would of never agreed to play against her. He would of stood firm on his love for his fiance.

Monica was definitely not submissive. Quincy was about to go back inside but she got in his way and stopped him. She was a fighter all the way and refused to let him go even when he initially wasn't going for it. Nothing submissive about her whatsoever.
Monica is definitely not submissive. Her mom was very much that way, which is why they didn’t get along. Monica never respected her mom and you saw why in one of the later scenes in the movie.
