It was the fifth and final single from his third album, 1991's Ropin' the Wind, and in late 1991 it became his ninth Number One hit on the Billboard country charts.
The song is a mid-tempo country pop ballad in which a river is used as a comparison to one's dreams. Through the lyric, the narrator says that he will continue to pursue his dreams.
I have loved his voice since I heard him try out for the American Idol. I voted for him as much as they would let me. Scotty has always been a good, great singer. Thank You 🥰

I don’t think anyone is claiming Scotty was as good as Garth. Of course he doesn’t have the range or control that Garth has. And there is a richness to Garth’s voice that Scotty lacked . But good heavens, at this point, Garth was a grown man with years of professional experience. Scotty was a 16 year old kid with very little experience. But he did an amazing job, about as close to Garth as anyone else has done. Extraordinary for a kid his age. And plenty of time for growth.

I think saying he's a great singer is a nostalgic STRETCH. Go back and listen to Garth again. ;) He has a good voice but his RANGE isnt even close to Garth and he doesnt have the vocal control that Garth does.

Way too much showboating in this song. Reminds me of those countless R&B singers who riff all over the place on classic songs until they're about unrecognizable. I used to really like this guy, but listening to him more now and seeing how he destroyed songs like this I'm starting to seriously rethink that.
