Sorry but I find this absolutely disrespectful to the spirit of the original song. First off he went up-temp on it toward the end like it was some kind of 'jamming country song' which it isn't. Second, trying to win a competition with this song? Bad form. Extremely bad form. Wish he had lost because of this trashy stunt.
I disagree, I'm from NY and my family was impacted by 9/11. I moved to North Carolina around the time Scotty was on Idol and we lived about 5 minutes from each other. No one in our town knew anything about 9/11. It baffled me in school how little it was talked about, of course coming from NY it was taught every year and we all were educated on it. When I did a project on 9/11 in school a student said "oh yeah they fell down" I remember being extremely greatful when Scotty performed this because although he was never really introduced to or learned about 9/11, he took it upon himself to sing this song, and it really opened up a lot of eyes in our town
Are you serious? This was a 16 year old kid who had a chance to bring this song to a wide seen base. He was doing it to bring out emotion in his performance and the audience because it was something he believed strongly about. I love when people sing this song because it shows the strength America has.
