excellent follow up to The Shining. Ewan McGregor is awesome, the visuals are mind bending, the music is effectively haunting, and I really love Rebecca Ferguson as the villain. You guys touched on this and what I like about Dr. Sleep is that it took a new concept that further built upon the genius of The Shining. The Shining has a very unique feel to it, but I have to agree with Stephen King, the transition (lack of) of Jack is non-existant, he just gets angrily randomly in one scene, and from then onwards is mentally ill. There's nothing before that to show a change, I completely understand Steven King's perspective, but other parts of the film were very very good.
Stephen King needs to get over it... It's not what he originally thought, it's much better... He's had PLENTY of success and has created soooo many amazing original stories, why is he still so butt hurt about The Shining?... Kubrick made a masterpiece inspired by his work, he should be proud.
Rob Weissman When I watched ‘The Shining’ film I hated it and I haven’t read the book yet. Despite this I’m not going waste my time claiming it’s a bad film and I acknowledge it’s great impact on the horror film genre. I’m a person who puts more effort into reading novels than watching films and I’m going to check out the novel at some point. From the honestly limited information I know about the film in comparison to the book. Neither is necessarily better than the other; a lot of what King wrote simply doesn’t translate well to film. I heard that King wrote the character of ‘Jack’ to be analogous to himself in some aspects (alcoholism); the way Kubrick chose to portray Jack’s story was in great contradiction to the purpose and message behind King’s story.
Saying that Kubrick's version of The Shining is better than King's novel is downright stupid. The book is a far better story. The book gives Jack a lot of depth and you know why he descends into madness, whereas Jack Nicholson looks crazy since the beginnig and the movie just turns him into a one-dimensional cartoon villain. And it also turns Wendy into a simpering idiot, whereas in the book she's such a badass.

Not counting King himself, I'm the only person in the whole wide world who preferred the mini-series over the movie. Didn't dislike the movie, it's very clean and tidy looking with great eerie and creepy atmosphere and tone. That said, the movie being cold and the mini-series/book being hot is not a bad way to compare them, in a non-derogatory way. Suprised the sequel wasn't called "Redrum." SPOILERSPOILERSPOILER: Also, it was way badass when kid-Dan went back into the bathroom to confront the creepy old lady for a second time and we just see him close the door and hear the lady's scream.
Most elements from The Shining (1980) were recreated with duplicate sets and lookalike actors, though three shots were reused: the aerial shot of the water and the island and the two shots after it of the car driving on the mountain road. The shots were degrained, recolored as day-for-night, and had snow digitally added. When writing Doctor Sleep, Stephen King had to be reminded of things from The Shining he'd forgotten. Although most of his stories exist in a shared universe (The Shining's Dick Hallorann appears briefly in IT, for example) it's one of only a few sequels he has written.
I'm glad to hear this because ever since seeing The Shining in a motel in the 90's, it's been one of my favorite movies. I didn't like the trailers, but I also never read the book. God, I hate watching Martin without Korey there. He honestly doesn't seem like a real movie fan and is always lost/out of the loop. He always misses obvious plot points and themes as well. I like Chris though...he makes this watchable.
I've read both books. Kubrick's film is my favorite horror film of all time. I really enjoyed Dr. Sleep as well. I liked The Shining miniseries as well nothing will outdo Kubrick's version
I liked the movie BUT if you are a super fan of the Shinning (the movie), it does take a lot of the mystery out and makes some of the elements of that first movie less scary. However, if you can compartmentalize both and see this new movie as some sort of 'what if' story in alternate universe but with a different take, you will appreciate it on its own merits. Much like it is pointed out here, it is not so much a horror movie but more of an adventure drama where some horrific shit happening here and there.
To me it was a superhero/vampire movie with the occasional thing going BOO just for the cheap jumpscare. Before knowing King wrote this himself I felt like the film could have been given to some writer or director and have nothing to do with The Shining but they then made a conscious decision to force The Shining into the plot so they could call it a sequel to attract more people to it. It just felt like a vampire film and the ending was like they had to crowbar in as much "Shining" in as possible just so people felt the two films were connected.
U.U.U **Patreon** I love the original. The remake, I consider to be a what if version. I do wish the remake had some of the creepiness of the original. I like that it was different from the original.
People bitch about "It: Chapter Two" a lot, but I enjoyed that a hell of a lot more than PS 2019, which really butchered the novel as far as I'm concerned. Forgettable POS and rightfully so. Give me 1989 any day.

God, I hate watching Martin without Korey there. He honestly doesn't seem like a real movie fan and is always lost/out of the loop. He always misses obvious plot points and themes as well. I like Chris though...he makes this watchable.
I can't stand Chris. Martin keeps me watching this.
I like Chris but prefer Corey
I've read both books. Kubrick's film is my favorite horror film of all time. I really enjoyed Dr. Sleep as well. I liked The Shining miniseries as well nothing will outdo Kubrick's version
You haven't read the books then 😂
@@dannyjorde2677 guess you thought that was clever yea I've read both books its called and opinion. Jackass
I LOOOVVVEEE THIS MOVIE DOCTOR SLEEP!
SO SCARY! AMAZING!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😃😃😃
CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT CHAPTER!
Careful guys martin spoils a major cameo if you don’t want to hear it don’t watch it. Wish Korey was here to wrangle in a bit
Chris did such a good job!
Juicy on the Microsoft Edge game
I liked the movie BUT if you are a super fan of the Shinning (the movie), it does take a lot of the mystery out and makes some of the elements of that first movie less scary. However, if you can compartmentalize both and see this new movie as some sort of 'what if' story in alternate universe but with a different take, you will appreciate it on its own merits. Much like it is pointed out here, it is not so much a horror movie but more of an adventure drama where some horrific shit happening here and there.
Good job Chris
Damn Corey you got vitalogo? You looking pretty light
Excellent movie. I really enjoyed it.
I love The Shining movie and Doctor Sleep
I miss Korey already 😂
15:34 So basically the exact opposite of Ghost Dad Harry Morgan (dexter) lol
A very underrated film 🎥
This movie was AMAZING!
Someone in another youtube video commented that the story line of Doctor Sleep parallels that of Logan's
Maximum Overdrive needs a remake.
Will be seeing it tonight.
Vs Pet Sematary ?
U.U.U **Patreon** I love the original. The remake, I consider to be a what if version. I do wish the remake had some of the creepiness of the original. I like that it was different from the original.
People bitch about "It: Chapter Two" a lot, but I enjoyed that a hell of a lot more than PS 2019, which really butchered the novel as far as I'm concerned. Forgettable POS and rightfully so. Give me 1989 any day.
8:45 "Janny a Dob"
Daniel Cubillas Valdez I didn’t even notice that xD
Trailer didn't do anything for me at all....but I like Mike Flanagan's work.
Mike D trailets didnt do it justice tbh. The movie is better than those trailers
This movie was dope as fuck, its a good follow up to the original
