Eflite finally did something right. They should bring back the ICON A5 as well. 1.4 m with 2200 4s battery gonna be sweat.
What do you mean "finally"? E-flite has been knocking it out of the park for at least the last 2 years. List any company that has done it better.
Bring back the icon!
You and Brian showed me this badboy so many times, I just had to get one 😂 Very much information in your videos without too much jibberjabber 👌 Great flying
Glad we could help!
Your flight reviews keep getting better and better! The on-screen telemetry from your iX20 is a game changer!
I really enjoyed this video Jon! Thank you!
Hi Jon. Got mine today using your link!!! Love what you are doing!!!
Awesome! Thank you!
I'm so happy that HH finally re-released this!
Thanks again love the plane on my way to get one 😊
While I would much rather fly my EC1500 scale, I love watching you fly yours like this. I share your enthusiasm for this beautiful plane, it's my favorite and I'm so glad to see it back in production. Amazing video.
Many thanks!
Indeed a nice model from E-Flite
Brilliant flying! And what a surreal & amusing model to see flown like that! Just watched a guy hover it through an open sided building. A very entertaining flight envelope, great fun 😊
Great review. I can feel the excitement. Thanks for the mixing overview at the end. I don’t fly a lot of 3D so I was curious what when you were calling out various flap settings during the flights.
We gotta share the love and spread the mix info - can't just talk about it and show it without giving you guys the chance to do it too! Thanks!
Nice one Jon. I'm happy for you man, I know you wanted this one! I'm happy for me too! Dude I love it. I knew you'd be mixing away. Lol...that's you're jam! It is amazing what you can get it to do with those mixes, but I must say...I was AMAZED that it will harrier and hover with the simple stock manual set up, and it was solid. This one surprised me, and I really am glad we got to try it. It's staying in our hangar for sure! Oh, and man I love how it looks with the painted floats you did. I agree, 10 out of 10.
Great minds think alike!
These videos are entertaining and informative! Man tell them you want a SR-71 or any of the black jets! Eflite doesn't need to figure out the sun problem. Just put a warning on box, keep covered unless being used
Sweet! Love the floats. Been looking for some lake fun. The carbon Z & now this. I’ll be racking up some points with your links.
Thanks so much! Hope you enjoy them. Feel free to join our Discord server via bit.ly/TBRCDiscord if you ever want to chat planes or need help!
You guys are giddy! 😎 I've been wanting something with a cargo door!!!
I was so worried when I got rid of the EC 1500! It's literally one of the best 3D aircraft that horizon has!
Awesome!!!
That Cirrus landing was a thing of beauty. Thanks for including it.
Good show.
You did right buy this model.
Fly it like you STOL it.
Cheers
Great video!
Another great video. I have one ordered and the floats. I really like what you did painting the floats. Question, what did you use to clean the floats before painting them? Acetone?
We just wiped them down with a wet paper towel and sprayed. They'd been used for over a year by the time we sprayed them and all of the leftover mold release agent was long since removed. We hope you enjoy it! If you picked it up via the link in the description, huge thanks to ya!
Good vid ,
Sup Jon!? Hope all is well brutha.
How did the primer hold up on the bottom of your floats? I'm wondering about applying clear coat to the bottom. Only the bottom of the Floats. 15:47
Decently well. It's easy to reapply if needed.
Do I need a Spektrum radio to pair with the receiver (or I can bind a 4-IN-1 TX16S radio) to the receiver?
We can't advise you on non-Spektrum equipment, but other radios can work. The best place to ask is our Discord server via bit.ly/TBRCDiscord
I didn’t see any landings with crow, despite your wing setup showing it was enabled on your Tx. Just curious if you’ve tried crow in flight, and if that would let you do spot landings with this too.
We've done a few landings with crow, but it was only in the wind to help cut through wind shear because of the extra thrust required to fly with crow. It's a neat flight mode but it's easier to fly without any flaps in wind.
Can I do full span ailerons and still have flaps with a nx8 they say it's available on stock set up but can't find a single video on how to accomplish this
That'll take 6 channels. The info is in the back end of this video. For help, join Discord via bit.ly/TBRCDiscord
Just got my ec1500 a few days ago. Did you move your linkages to the inner hole on the aileron and flaps? I moved mine to the middle but I'm about to run out of adjustment. Throw seems to be a limiting factor on this thing
Yup, max mechanical travel is how we do things.
Do you know if the new prop adapters will work on Version 1 ?
Doubtful considering the motor changed, or at least it appears to have changed.
So I gather from what you said that the low voltage cutoff isn't good for the plane. Please help me understand why? Is it hard on the motor?
Low voltage cutoff means that the ESC cuts power to the motors to keep the battery from getting over-discharged. We'd rather over-discharge a battery because cutting power to the motor means you'd have to dead stick it - and that's usually never preferred to avoid damaging the plane.
@@TwoBrosRC OO ok. I was thinking that the low voltage cutoff only causes the motor to pulsate. that make sense now thanks!
you should try doing a harrier flap landing!
Done it before with the old version. It just comes in nose-high lol
how many channels do u need on your transmitter to use the cargo door? i only have 6 channels
At least 7.
@@TwoBrosRCwhat about my gear switch? i dont use anything on that
great video thank you! what mixes would you recommend on a NX8?
Full span ailerons are a must-have. That's probably all you'll be able to get out of the model unless you're OK with giving up SAFE.
@@TwoBrosRC makes definately sense i guess, is it possible to only connect the flaps without y cable and Keep the y on the ailerons? Then i could also use thrust reverse with 8 channels, dont need safe. Greets from austria ;-)
That's totally possible.
OK so i did this same setup, but I have found as3x is interfering with travel. channel 2 for r ail set to -150/150 only travels to the same deflection as the original 100 setting. But channel 7 left ail set to -150/150 has much more throw. Did you have to mess with your as3x programming or settings to allow channel 2,3,4 to have more throw past 100?
Nope. Relearn servo settings and it won't have an issue.
epic. Youre a litteral genius. Do i need to change any as3x settings so it knows the ailerons are separate? Dont want the gyro to kick in and make it all wonky if it thinks the ailerons are on a y harness still. @@TwoBrosRC
Relearning servo settings will update the receiver programming with your current transmitter settings. Join us on Discord and we can go further in-depth via bit.ly/TBRCDiscord
trying to do a servo relearn on my ec-1500 and ix14. It has the ar 8360t in it, when I go to forward programming then gyro settings I get no "system setup" option. Do i need to unlock this rx in some way to allow this? or what could cause that option to not show up in the ix14 when in the forward programming menu@@TwoBrosRC
Definitely join us on Discord for help with this since it's going to be too much back and forth in the comments - hit up bit.ly/TBRCDiscord and post in #tech-and-setup
Watched both of these , live and this. I have one, possibly stupid question. Will it cobra?? or at least look like one. I meant to ask that on your V1 videos.
AirHammer out!!
Props do walls, not cobras lol
Hey mate any chance you can share you radio file for this plane cheers mate
It actually should be in our Discord server in the #spektrum-radio-setups channel. Find it via bit.ly/TBRCDiscord
Can you make a control setup for this model? Want to mix but would prefer to learn from someone who knows what they're doing. 😂
Setup guide is at the end. Look for the chapter.
Is it good for beginners? Also what about fpv? Thanks, u earned a sub!
This is definitely not a beginner level aircraft. It would work great for FPV though, since it has a dedicated hatch that you can remove to install a camera.
@@TwoBrosRC like gifting it to a friend who has never flown rc planes would be a bad idea even if they’re experienced with rc cars and drones? Anyways thanks for the advice and sorry for bothering you!
Any reverse demo?
Should be in there!
Would this be easy enough for a beginer thats never flown ?
Absolutely not - you'll want to pick up something like an Aeroscout to learn with long before moving to this plane.
You already have a transmitter: bit.ly/3D5vBth
You don't have a transmitter: bit.ly/3rkx506
@@TwoBrosRC Thank you I’ll check out for one now,I’d like a large A10 with 80 or 90mm once learned can you recommend one please? Thanks Drew
Need a grass test especially with such small wheels. Not all of us have the benefit of a paved/Concrete runway.
It'll absolutely work off short grass. We've flown V1 in that kind of environment before.
I’ve watched a few videos of these on grass, they are absolutely capable. There’s so much power to weight on tap, it will punch away no problem. Even on 3S
I bought 2 of these
Solid choice m8!
@@TwoBrosRC, I did because best twin prop ever from Horizon Hobby, I like this color better than the V1, that was orange, white coast guard colored version.
@@TwoBrosRC, I heard they discontinued the Canadian twin otter exempt the umx version. I kinda miss the british spitfire ww2 plane which was a rock solid flying machine
This thing is so cool but still could use retracts .
Retracts add unnecessary weight and complexity to the airframe.
Is it possible to set up old EC 1500s like the new version 2. If so what do I need to get this done in addition to the 8 channel receiver
It's probably possible but you'd have to replace so much that you may as well just buy the new airframe.
I should have checked here before commenting on Adam’s… lol
Adam's a great guy, we're happy you're watching his content!
@@TwoBrosRC - I follow both of you, Brian, Nate, and Gary as well. Between the 5 of you, not many stones are left unturned. The diversity in skills/experience/styles makes for a very well rounded virtual study!
THEY USED THE ACE COMBAT SONG
They did.
@@TwoBrosRC WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
201 temps are kinda concerning.wonder how long the brushless magnets will hold to those temps.great video man!you did a excellent job showing its potential 👏
The temperature is only for the ESC - and it's rated for up to 220. We'd forgotten to remove the little FPV cap when we did the initial float flight, which is why it had gotten so warm. It should stabilize around 160F on a cool day.
@@TwoBrosRC cool! It looks like a great parachute dropper😃
Cua es su velocidad máxima
We don't measure top speed for most airplanes.
What a slap in the face to the F-16 80mm owners that can’t fly their planes because of a complete lack of necessary parts. Hey look over here! We grabbed a bunch of EC-1500 bodies we had laying around and painted them gray. Never mind the fact that there are literal crickets in the parts dept. This hurts to see. Love the content man but I know other people have to be feeling the same way. Not just F-16 owners either. Tons of planes sitting around this summer that need simple parts with no comment from HH.
We're not sure how a new aircraft is a "slap in the face" to anyone. Could you clarify? HH is undoubtedly doing their best to get spare parts out to you. We'd wager that there's some issue out of their control that's preventing that from happening.
I believe you can fit fms f16 80mm parts
I don't think they had any spare Ec1500 bodies laying around, because I would have bought them .
@@TwoBrosRC In reference to the "new" release, it's lazy. In my opinion. It's just that: my opinion. I completly understand if people disagree. In reference to the parts, I can't say exactly how long because my nose gear was fine and took quite a bit of abuse before I needed a replacement. I've watched since March as month after month HH puts a little black tag at the top of the part listing that says "Next Shipment in March 2023, then April, etc... They haven't updated to June yet but I'm sure that's next however. Earlier today I read a post from a Horizon employee stating that FMS and some of their factories are using "unethical practices" and is therefor limiting HH's abilities the get parts shipped out. I've reached out several times and got nothing but crickets each time. My problem is not with the plane. It's great and while it was in flying condition it was wonderful. My problem is with spending $600+ on something and then when the is an issue that requires spare parts you simply can't get them. Nice weather day after nice weather day zip by and my $600+ plane sits on the floor. No word from HH. No announcement, nothing. Not one word to let their customers know that they are working on the issue or their going to make it right. The 80mm Thunderbirds isn't even that OLD lol! I understand times are tough and shipping is an issue but, HH deliberately working against FMS and some of their factories is not a shipping issue. The F-16 80mm isn't the only victim so I know I'm not the only person with a plane sitting around that would happily spend more money on the parts to get it working again that has a plane just sitting around with no way to fix it. Now back to the "New" EC-1500. It's fine. If people like it that's all that matters. I just feel like right now there are bigger fish to fry at that company and releases like this come off as distractions and show underlying issues. Either way we vote with our dollar and we all have a right to choose. No one is right or wrong either way. I still love your content and appreciate what you do for our hobby. I'm probably responsible for half of your F-16 80mm views lol. I'll continue enjoying your content and wish you all the best.
@@notbadgerbutrich Was just at the FMS site. Didn't see any 80mm F-16? Are you referring to gear for a different plane?
