Pretty crazy man!!! I've seen a small documentary on the Garrick that they jig illegally and that terrifies me, one part is that I want to catch one legally oneday and the other part is for the future, how many will be left if they carry on like that. Thanks for sharing, appreciate it. 🤙🏻🎣 Thanks for looking after our ocean.💪✌🤙🏻

You are 100% correct it was super tight! We were in a rush however, not wanting to tire the fish out too much, and with the fights already taking like 20 or 30 min we just wanted to get them in so we could hook the next one while they were still biting. I agree though, next time we will try and get some of those bigger ones out so we can see them and get footage. I bought a better net now with a much longer pole which will really help. Obviously we would never gaff a fish. Thanks for the comment.

@@FishingEasternCapeSA :) yeah I think these estuary people are fishing with too light gear... yeah it is fun until you must revive the fish for 1hour.... thats no fun.

Not at all the same thing. Our lures had much smaller hooks and we use light 15lb line and very light rods. If we put any real pressure on the line or rod would break. The illegal jigging is done with long lines of huge hooks and heavy surf line and tackle which actually tears the fishes flesh. We could not even see a mark where our hooks had hooked the fish. We also released all of the fish and some of them where hooked in the mouth as they were clearly targeting our lures as bait fish. This was not foul hooking the fish as they swim past in shoals. The jiggers foul hook the fish and they release none! They dont even care for bag or size limit let alone proper fishing techniques.
