  • This Bible study devotional covers 1 Kings 3-5. In this passage, Solomon asks God for wisdom, and Israel flourishes as a result.
As always, we are committed to showing you how to see the good news of the Gospel in every passage of Scripture. In 1 Kings 3-5, we see that in a world after Eden, only a wise King can bring us the blessing God promised Abraham and the peace and provision Adam and Eve knew. That wise King is Jesus.

I really like the way you explain the chapter and then relate it to the gospel of Jesus. This is a perfect support of my women's Bible Study as we go through 1 Kings. Ty!

Very clealy explained message. I was looking for a study on this subject to affirm what the spirit inside was saying which was this: The goal is not to get more money but the perfect example was king Solomon and the love he had for God and that his greatest concern as a king was to gain wisdom and discernment. Thankyou for affirming what the spirit was telling me. Also add to that is: To love God with all our heart mind and soul and Love our neighbor as ourselves. One more: Do unto others as we would hope they would do unto us. Great lesson here to keep us on the steady path. All the fruit is a by product.

David, I enjoyed your lively presentation. May I ask two questions about vs. 16-28?
    1. By what wisdom was Solomon sure that the lying prostitute (who'd been saying that she wanted "her" baby) would suddenly change her appeal to "Go ahead, kill my baby"? Why was Solomon sure that she would not respond at vs. 26 by saying "Well yes, now that you're finally offering my baby to me, of course, I will take it"?
    2. Since the soldier of vs. 25 was likely aware that Saul had lost his kingship for hesitating to carry out Samuel's command to kill all the Amalekites (including the babies), why did he hesitate to carry out Solomon’s command to cut the baby in two?

Correction; he never asked for wisdom he asked for a understanding heart king James version. God gave him wisdom and understanding heart plus honor plus riches and if he keep the statutes and commands God would give him long life. And understand heart is a heart that God can work through but he gave the wisdom also.

What do we know of the book of Solomon and what lesson we .as Christian learn from the book of Solomon in the Bible.
Moreover, 1 Kings 3-5 Solomon ask Jehovah God of Israel to provided with wisdom Because in the book of kings Solomon became King of Israel in that time period. He ruled as King of Israel.
In addition, Solomon ruled with wistom and knowledge in the eyes of Jehovah his God. However, Solomon built the Temple of Jehovah his God where the sacred sits was placed as to the Ark of the Covenant where the 2 tablets which housed the ten commandments that God gave Moses.
We know for a fact that Solomon was wealth

In the book of Genesis Jehovah God made it clear to Abraham that do not take wife's from the land of the cannanite as your own. So in reference to Genesis we as Christians should never take wife's from none Christian women and of cause in the book of kings Solomon signed badly in the eyes of Jehovah his God.
